The second decennium of the Munich Betrayal. Reflection of the year 1938 in Czechoslovakia 1948-1958 - formulation and development.
Nožička, Josef ; Čechurová, Jana (advisor) ; Mücke, Pavel (referee) ; Němeček, Jan (referee)
The dissertation explores the creation of a historical portrayal of the 1938 events in Czechoslovakia and the transformations of this portrayal in 1948-1958. In particular, it analyses the mechanism of its creation, its fundamental pillars, the most characteristic interpretation devices, motifs, and patterns, their changes and shifts in their priority; the materials examined include, primarily, specialist historiography publications and opinion journalism on political issues, and in selected cases also films, poetry, and fiction. Furthermore, the dissertation highlights the links between these transformations and the propaganda campaigns of the Cold War - the 'war of documents' and the campaign against bourgeois falsifiers of history. It searches for parallels between the Soviet and Czechoslovak historiography of this period, focusing on their mutual ties in their narrative about the Munich events of 1938 as well as on the gradual weakening of these ties in the mid 1950s.
WE WON'T RESIGN! - The magazine Mladý hlasatel 1937-1938 and his role in the defence of the Czechoslovakia.
Nožička, Josef ; Čechurová, Jana (advisor) ; Kvaček, Robert (referee)
This graduation thesis is focused on the children's magazine "Mladý hlasatel", which was published by "Melantrich" publishing house during 1935-1941, and his role from September 1937 to September 1938. This thesis would like to analyse principal aspects of its history, especially its influence on readers' interest in issues of active national and state defence. The branches of this analysis are these: current news, belletristic, instructional and educational articles. It also tried to describe the relationship between "Mladý hlasatel" and the other newaspapers and magazines published by "Melantrich", to compile the c. v. of Břetislav Mencák, editor of "Mladý hlasatel". At the same time it found and rebutted many mistakes and inaccuracies, which were unknown. It essentially made visual available this otherwise hard accessible magazine. This thesis would like to be a contribution to the history of "Mladý hlasatel", and to the history of Czech children's magazines and point to the neglected problem of a children's role and potentialities during the Czechoslovak crisis 1938.

Search for the knowledge within big companies could become pain not only for knowledge seekers, but as well for knowledge managers in case they want a solution, that reflects well actual state of knowledge of a company, allows discovering emerging areas of knowledge and at the same time its maintenance does not require huge amounts of effort. This doctoral thesis starts by a comprehensive analysis of needs of expertise location of current company, description of theoretical backgrounds, related approaches and fundamental directions in expertise location, analyses their advantages and disadvantages and on the ground of this analysis presents a new expertise location technique that tries to avoid disadvantages of current expertise location systems by keeping their advantages. The technique is designed to respect the needs of effective knowledge management within a company, which main assets are their employees, their knowledge reflected in unstructured documents they produce as a part of their daily work. Described knowledge mapping technique analyses document publication history of company members and proposes various measures to asses and characterize their knowledge. The implementation of the knowledge mapping technique allows its direct usage (as an expert search engine) as well as its own evaluation (validity of search engine results). The efficiency of proposed measures on various types of document sources (project directories/versioning repositories/etc.) and within various dimension configurations (current/overall knowledge search) is evaluated by the practical evaluation method introduced within the thesis. The evaluation took place in the environment of a middle-sized software company allowing seeing directly a practical usability of the expertise location technique. The results of the evaluation are presented not only in statistical form, but in a form of suggestions of how to implement the model on various document sources within the company. The results suggest that described knowledge mapping technique is a viable approach in expertise location.
