Výskyt patogenů v porostu lilku bramboru
Novák, Ondřej
This bachelor thesis is focused on the occurrence of pathogens in the potato (Solanum tuberosum L.) crop. The objectives of the thesis were to describe potato, to describe the pathogens that attack potato and, in the practical part, to observe and evaluate the occurrence of late blight, early blight (on chemically treated and untreated parts of the plot) and Y – virus of potato. In each section, pathogen incidence was monitored on 15 varieties. Late blight occurred only minimally in the crop. This was due to the dry and warm weather during the growing season, which caused minimal spread of the disease. On the other hand, early blight occurred on all varieties surveyed. This disease usually appears in the crops during the warm and intermittently wet season. Y-virus of potato was significantly present on one third of the varieties surveyed. The occurrence was caused by a record infestation of the peach aphid, which transmits the PVY virus.
Vliv vlhkosti a teploty na pevnost lepených spojů masivního dřeva s kovem
Novák, Ondřej
This thesis deals with the problem of bonding of metal and wood. It deals with the comparison of glued joints in wood-wood and wood-metal combinations stressed in shear by induced tension and stressed in bending. It also investigates the effect of exposure to different climatic environments over a period of thirty days, where half of the test specimens were left in normal conditions and the other half were exposed to elevated temperature and humidity.
Generation of harmonic frequencies of the high-power picosecond laser beam
Šatra, Šimon ; Novák, Ondřej (advisor) ; Trojánek, František (referee)
This work is dedicated to the generation and characterization of beams of harmo- nic frequencies of the Perla C-100 laser. In the theoretical part, coupled wave equations are derived with application to the generation of second harmonic and sum frequency, and a comparison of other systems for the generation of harmonic frequencies is made. The second part is dedicated to the design of the system for the generation of harmonic frequencies, the choice of suitable nonlinear crystals, and numerical simulations are used to determine the ideal parameters of the given crystals. The experimental part describes the set-up for the generation of harmonic frequencies, characterizes the important beam parameters, namely powers, pulse lengths, pulse spectra, M2 parameters and beam pro- files, and adresses the effect of changing the repetition frequency of laser pulses on the generation of harmonic frequencies. 1
Axon, in development and injury
Polčanová, Zuzana ; Kárová, Kristýna (advisor) ; Novák, Ondřej (referee)
The cytoskeletal structure of growth cones plays an important role in both the development of the nervous system and during periods of axon re- generation. The growth cone is a highly dynamic structure located at the tip of growing axons, providing navigation and movement. Signalling cascades are activated that lead to the regulation of the growth cone cytoskeleton, defining its displacement, rotation, or collapse. Despite advances in under- standing guidance cues and their mechanisms of action, knowledge of what happens to the nervous system after injury is lacking. Unlike axons in the peripheral nervous system (PNS), that are able to regenerate after neuronal injury, axons in the central nervous system (CNS) loose regenerative ability as they mature. Unravelling the mechanisms of axon guidance, together with their behaviour after axotomy and regeneration, is extremely important for the understanding of CNS injuries and to provide treatment of these injuries in the future.
FDTD simulace funčkních fotonických struktur
Novák, Ondřej ; Veis, Martin (advisor)
This thesis aims to (i) design and optimize the geometry of magneto-photonic crystal based on ferromagnetic garnet in order to resonantly enhance the magneto-optical re- sponse, (ii) to explore the possibility of using magnetic shape memory alloy to build an optically active photonic element, using advanced FDTD modeling. A Faraday rotation of 180◦ was reached but with low values of transmissivity. An investigation of the origin of such high values of Faraday rotation led to a conclusion that such structure has to be highly sensitive towards a change of a refractive index of its surroundings. This was confirmed, and so further development of this structure can lead to an efficient concentra- tion detector. Three designs of optically active element utilizing deformation of magnetic shape memory material in the external magnetic field were numerically simulated. Two designs (photonic crystal with cylindric holes in a hexagonal lattice and self-standing foil with cylindric holes in a square lattice) proved to be efficient and worth of further development. 1
Suppression of recoil in military equipment
Novák, Ondřej ; Žáček, Jiří (referee) ; Klapka, Milan (advisor)
The bachelor´s thesis focuses on dampening the recoil force generated by gunshots in military technology. For this purpose, several methods are currently used, which however limit the possible capabilities of firearms with respect to their accuracy and fire rate effective while being inadaptable to variations in the firing cycle. The goal of this thesis is therefore the compilation of currently used methods and subsequent selection of areas where these methods could be substituted or amended by applying magnetorheological technology. In the first phase a research study was carried out describing the technical solutions currently in use for recoil dampening. Approximate values of recoil brake forces and energies for a commonly used weapon system was also included. In the discussion part of the thesis, the research was then evaluated with respect to the possible application of magnetorheological dampening elements. The main areas suitable for the use of this technology are large-caliber cannons and automatic cannons, in which their use could improve their accuracy and increase the controllable rate of fire while limiting the load on the carriages of these weapons. Based on this thesis, further research may be carried out, focusing on a comprehensive analysis and modelling of magnetorheological buffer use in of the mentioned areas.
Translation potential of current preclinical techniques for gene therapy of neurological diseases in clinic. A critical review.
Žideková, Paulína ; Novák, Ondřej (advisor) ; Jendelová, Pavla (referee)
Research in the field of gene therapy has potential to become a revolutionary way to the existing treatment for a wide spectrum of neurological diseases. To treat these disorders causally, by specific substituting, deleting, silencing or editing faulty genes could be a privilege of gene therapy. The concept of translational medicine is to facilitate the transfer of working principles in preclinical research into treatment in humans. Its key issue is to overcome limitations associated with the gap between the tremendous variety molecular biology tools of preclinical research and the lack of simple corresponding options in humans. Clinical implementation of most of the preclinical approaches is still considered to be limited. The main focus of this thesis is to summarize latest advancements of molecular and genetic engineering tools that themselves or in combination have the potential to promote most preclinical gene therapy of neurological diseases to clinical use. Based on that, this study aims to suggest perspective methods of treatment for selected neurological diseases.
Vliv vynaložených finančních prostředků na výsledky voleb
Novák, Ondřej
This bachelor thesis deals with the quantification of the influence of spent funds on the results of elections in the Czech Republic and political marketing. The aim is to evaluate the relationship between finances and votes obtained in elections. The first part explains the concepts of political marketing. Subsequently, data from the presidential, senate and parliamentary elections to the European Parliament and the Chamber of Deputies of the Czech Republic are statistically processed. These data are commented and subsequently also transferred to the general level of elections in the Czech Republic. Recommendations are also made for setting up a successful election campaign.
London in Contemporary British Fiction
NOVÁK, Ondřej
The thesis deals with the novels of leading contemporary prose writers Ian McEwan and Martin Amis who set their works in the capital of the United Kingdom. The work first introduces London as both a multicultural centre and a scene of important historical events. Then it focuses on the concept of urban space in Ian McEwan's novels Saturday and Atonement in comparison with the author's earlier works that take place in London. The next chapter compares the portrayal of London in the work of Ian McEwan with Martin Amis's novel London Fields and tries to define the poetics and differences of the depiction of the environment in the context of the examined literary works. Balshaw and Kennedy's Urban Space and Representation serves as the theoretical basis of the study of space and environment. The theoretical part is applied at the core of the thesis to the work of Ian McEwan, alternatively to Martin Amis's novel London Fields.
