Abstract The thesis deals with the integration of a selected cross-curricular subject of the national curriculum for upper-secondary schools (Framework Educational Programme for Upper- Secondary Schools, Rámcový vzdělávací program pro gymnázia), namely Education towards Thinking in European and Global Contexts, into English classes. The thesis contains an overview of academic literature and research studies dealing with the integration of global education and language and culture education. It presents the global simulation method as an innovative method of foreign language teaching in the context of contemporary language teaching approaches and psychological theories. The paper includes an original teaching model of an integrated subject called "Model United Nations", namely its syllabus, guide for teachers, and worksheets. This model was tested both with regard to its suitability for the integration of the listed educational areas, as well as to its impact on the development of the students' self-perceived communication competence in the English language. Wound care in context of the nursing process

Wound dressing is a part of patient care not only in the departments specialized in surgical procedures. Given that the patient with a wound has certain specific needs, an effective method of providing nursing care can be found in the application of the nursing process. The aim of the thesis was to map the issue of dressing in the context of the nursing process. Other goals were to find out what patients expect in connection with the treatment of a wound from a nurse and what patient's needs are satisfied in the treatment of wounds. Three research questions were identified. How does wound dressing work in nursing practice? How do nurses perceive their competencies for wound dressings? How do patients perceive wound dressings? The method of elaboration of the empirical part was a qualitative research investigation, which was carried out by the technique of semi-structured interview with patients who had an acute or chronic wound and were treated in hospital in connection with its treatment. The second group of informants consisted of nurses who work at surgery department and take care of patients and their wounds during their work. The research group consisted of eleven patients and twelve nurses. Based on the study of the literature, ten basic questions for interviews with patients and eleven basic questions for interviews with nurses were created. With the consent of the informants, all the interviews obtained were recorded on an audio recording and subsequently cleaned from padding words and transcribed. The method chosen for processing the obtained data was open coding, the "pencil and paper" technique. The results of the research survey are presented in the form of categories and subcategories. From the answers of the informants it was clear that wound care is very different according to workplaces and care system. The results of the research revealed that the most frequently reported need of patients with a wound is the need to be pain-free. Furthermore, it was found that even though the informants claimed that the nursing process in their workplaces is both partially and fully used, they did not demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of the nursing process in other issues. Thanks to the mapping of the issue by the above groups, some opinions were connected, and the shortcomings or necessary changes were revealed, which can be the basis for new research work.

The intention is to present an overview of knowledge of the disease itself and map its impact on the activities of a normal day. The work is divided into theoretical and practical part. The introduction of the theoretical part is devoted to reasons of my decision to describe this topic, I define the aim of the work and the working hypotheses, subsequently there is described the disease itself in tabular form by each areas, such as the characteristics of the disease, duration of disease, diagnosis, treatment etc. Then I pay attention to daily life activities and needs of the patient. In the practical part is performed quantitative research through a questionnaire survey of patients from a specialized center for the treatment of demyelinating diseases in the Department of Neurology at the Motol University Hospital. Family Guidebook to The Museum of Decorative Arts in Prague: An Example of the Lifelong Learning Concept Implemented in a Museum

The thesis deals with the possibilities o f supporting and enhancing the educational role o f museums in the lifelong learning process, particularly in the process o f family learning. The author defines the conditions o f the preparation o f a self-guided museum programme for families. The author presents an example o f a family guidebook to the exhibition hall o f glass and ceramics o f The Museum o f Decorative Arts in Prague (hereafter UPM). The family guidebook draws on the study o f primarily British and American sources dealing with museum education and related disciplines. The thesis also features an analysis o f a small visitor study o f family visitors o f the UPM and a description and analysis o f a museum programme during which the guidebook was tested. According to the author, a self-guided museum programme for families should draw on family audience segmentation and on specific needs o f this visitor group. Such a programme should motivate visitors to learn actively from the exhibits, to encourage cooperation and sharing o f knowledge and skills among individual family members. The programme should make the visitors feel that the museum is a plače not only to learn new things but also to spend enjoyable moments, and encourage them to repeat their visit.

Communication of nurse with patient in connection with colonoscopy

The main aim of this work was to map the issue of nurse communication with a patient undergoing colonoscopy. Based on this goal, three research questions were set out, which had the following wording: What communication do patients expect before the colonoscopy?; How do patients undergoing colonoscopy evaluate nurse communication?; What feelings do patients experience in colonoscopy? In order to elaborate the empirical part of this thesis, the qualitative research methodology was chosen, which was realized by the technique of semi-structured interview with the patients who underwent colonoscopy. The research group consisted of nine patients who underwent either an outpatient examination or hospitalization in the wards. The interviews were conducted on the basis of 18 prespecified questions. Some of them were enhanced with supplementary questions, appropriately developing the considered issue. All interviews were recorded using audio recording, cleaned from padding words and transcribed. Subsequently, they were processed by open coding method using the "pencil and paper" technique. The results are presented in the form of categories and subcategories. The first category is focused on patient expectations and is divided into three subcategories in which the informants expectations regarding the information, communication and medical staff attitude are recorded. The second category focuses on information related to colonoscopy. In the third category, feelings experienced in connection with colonoscopy are recorded, and this category is further subdivided into four subcategories. The last, fourth category, is nurse communication from a patient perspective, which includes two subcategories. The results of the research revealed differences between patient expectations and nurse communication. Further, the feelings perceived by the informants before, during and after the examination were revealed. According to the information obtained, the informants were most often afraid of the pain and the course of the examination. They were rather satisfied with the nurses' communication. This bachelor thesis provides an insight into the issue of nurse communication with a patient undergoing colonoscopy, its shortcomings, but also positive aspects. The whole issue is observed from the patients´ subjective point of view and their needs, which makes the results of the work useful to both healthcare professionals and lay people.

Teaching methods in post-secondary-school English courses

The objective of the thesis was twofold. Firstly, to map the situation in one-year post- secondary courses of English organised by private language schools in the Czech Republic and to recommend teaching methods and materials suitable for the given age group and the aims of the courses. Secondly, to outline the legislation regulating this form of study and in view of the recent legislative changes to compile a set of arguments for preserving the student status for the course participants. The first part of the thesis summarizes the lingvodidactic principles of teaching English as a foreign language with respect to the specific characteristics of learners between 19 and 22 years of age. It also presents a brief overview of the historical development of teaching methods as a background to the methodology applicable to post-secondary courses and provides a basis for textbook evaluation and selection. In the empirical part of the thesis the organization of post-secondary courses at three private language schools was contrasted and two sets of questionnaires completed by their students were analysed. Based on the conclusions drawn in the theoretical background as well as on the output of the questionnaires the contemporary approach of principled eclecticism was recommended as the most suitable...
