Gambling and its impact - qualitative research of pathologically players

Thesis "Gambling and its consequences - qualitative research of pathological gamblers" is discussing gambling as a present phenomenon and about the effects of gambling on gamblers and his environment in different aspects of his life. Theoretical part provides the introduction to this problem, specification of definitions and also particular impact of gambling on itself, namely health, social, criminal law and last but not least, financial consequences. The practical part deals with stories of abstaining gamblers and their subjectively perceived impacts of gambling on their lives, hindering factors in the development of addiction and factors facilitating entering to the treatment.
Socioeconomic status and criminal problems of problematic opioids and metamphetamine users

of the thesis Introduction: This dissertation focuses on socioeconomic status and problems with law of problematic opioid and methamphetamine users. Long-term intensive use of drugs leads not only to health impacts, but also social such as the inability of financial autonomy, indebtedness, unemployment, failure to comply with the respective social roles, fiduciary social functioning, poor housing etc. Great number of users are influenced by the drug in situations such as interpersonal relationship, family functioning and partnerships, there is a change of social status, social isolation or exclusion. Effective interventions and service development should always start with a good knowledge of the situation and needs of the user, who claims the service. Claim: The goal of this thesis is finding socioeconomic status and criminal situation of problematic methamphetamine and opioids users consequently draw recommendations towards services that work with these clients. Well-being and tobacco and alcohol use in the Czech general population

Since positive psychology was founded the interest is moving from pathology to the impact of positive effects on humans. The concept of well-being starts to be further discussed and become an important part of drug policies. This document discusses the relationship between the rate of alcohol and tobacco use and well-being among Czech general population. This is an online questionnaire-based cross-sectional study. To determine the rate of tobacco use the scale HSI (Heaviness of Smoking Index) was used, for information about the extent of alcohol use was chosen the questionnaire AUDIT (Alcohol Use Disorders Identification Test) and for measurement of well-being was selected a questionnaire, which was standardized for Czech population: SQUALA (Subjective Quality of Life Analysis). Data were processed using the statistical program IBM SPSS 21, using analysis of variance (ANOVA) and correlation. The results show that the rate of tobacco use is linked to wellbeing. The hypothesis whether the rate of alcohol is related to wellbeing was not clearly confirmed, even if the results suggest the relationship in terms of a lower quality of life with increasing alcohol consumption. Problem drug use in the Prague's quarter without functioning specialised harm reduction programme

The bachelor paper undertakes a topic of problem drug use, it's development, nature, range of consequences for individuals and the society. It's focused onrecentsituation inproblem drug use in the Czech Republic and Prague, onwork of low-threshold services for problem drug users, drug policy of capital city and particular part of the city. The aim of the research was to analyse the situation of problem drug use in Prague's quarter Michle, where no specialized low-threshold program for drug users is operating. The intention was to find out whether problem drug use exists in the area, what is it's prevalence, patterns, specifics, and whether the low-threshold program is needed. The Rapid Assessment and Response methodologywas used as a method of data collection and analysis - analysis of available data and materials (annual reports of organizations, materials of Prague drug policy) and semi-structured interviews with key informants (problem drug users, representatives of institutions, workers of Prague low-threshold services, locals and informants in the service sector). Alcohol addicts in abstinence-oriented treatment and controlled drinking

(thesis): Backgrounds: The Czech Republic is at the top of the world regarding alcohol consumption. Alcohol is in the Czech Republic considered legal addictive substance which is commonly available. In the Czech population aged 15-64 years a lot of people consume alcohol in a risk way, only small part, however, gets into the system of treatment. Since 2005 the number of institutionally treated men and women has been gradually decreasing, although the number of alcohol users regularly increases. Objectives: The main goal of this research was to map extend of dependency of patients involved in abstinent oriented treatment. In specially selected clinics, this research was focusing on their behaviour and habitual practice while consuming alcohol and sorting out differences between men and women. It also pays attention to experience of these dependent patients with abstinence controlled drinking and their opinions on the whole situation after they finish their treatment. Drug-related Deaths in the Capital City of Prague in the Police Statistics

Introduction: Background: Police in Prague collects data on drug-related deaths, which is investigating. These data are not collected for later statistical processing. Objective: Epidemiological analysis of these data to describe the character of drug-related deaths, characteristics of deceased persons and their comparison with other available resources. Methods: A group of police investigators, dealing with drug crime was submited a list of items with request to finding of documentation of drug-related death. About drug-related deaths found only a limited range of information. Police were given only the data from the years 2008 and 2009. Data were analyzed and compared with data on drug-related death in Prague, which was extracted from a special mortality registry. Results: The Police recorded between 2008 and 2009 a total of 25 deaths associated with drug use. In 23 cases, most likely was an overdose. Two cases were reported as deaths in the presence of drugs. Police registered persons were mostly men - 19 cases ( 76%), women were in 6 cases (24%). Deaths were most often in the age group 25-29, in this age group occurred 12 people (48% of the total sample). The use of psychotropic substances in the "goth" subculture

The thesis mapping the use of psychotropic substances in the specific youth subcultures - Goth, which the author himself is a member. The theoretical part is briefly sketched the definition of culture and subcultures, and describes Goth subculture for notion of the survey respondents. It then states the author's previous research, which was conducted in Prague on monthly social event, and presents the results of population surveys on annual reports to compare the obtained data. The practical section provides the actual data from 169 respondents to a comprehensive lifetime, annual and monthly experience with psychotropic substance and the author states as well as daily and risk taking. It describes the process using a web questionnaire self- selection and focus groups for evaluation questionnaire. Questionnaire examine frequency of use of the twelve groups of psychotropic substances, risk taking (CAGE, CAST, Fageström test), and asked about the possible addiction (According to the criteria of ICD - 10). Gynecological care and reproductive health in female drug users

Backrounds: Usage of addictive substances is a factor which affects the reproductive health of the female users, it affects their risky sexual behavior and fetus healthy development during pregnancy of drug using mothers. Pregnancy also represents a moment in their lifes which affects certain bio-psycho-social aspects forming the beginning of usage of substance abuse. Objectives: The aim of the research was to map a degree and paterns among problem female drug users and changes throughout pregnancy, map the risks of their sexual behavior and quality of their reproductive health, try to find out the availability of gynacology care for female drug users, the amount of care available before, through and after pregnancy. It also includes specific needs and factors affecting reproductive health. The risk potential of gambling products for development of gambling disorder

BACKGROUND: A gambling disorder, which newly ranks among an addiction disorder, may develop with a lack of control over playing the hazard games. The structural and situational characteristics affects the risk potential of each hazard game for development of a gambling disorder. OBJECTIVES: The aim of the work was to map the perceptions and experiences of the addictology workers, who specialize on the gamblers, on the risk potential of the various types of the gambling products and their characteristics. METHODS: The research was designed as a cross-sectional survey with using e-mail communication. The convenient sample consisted of professionals working in addiction treatment a counselling programs for people with gambling disorder, who met the inclusion criteria. The questionnaire includes the filter with inclusion criteria, questions about sociodemographic profile of the respondents, the characteristics of the clients and the risk potential of gambling products and their characteristics. The sample consisted of 18 professionals (response rate 28 %). Descriptive analysis was performed.
