E-government in the Czech legal office environment

This thesis deals with the electronization in a specific private entity, namely in the Prague office of an international law firm. Electronic administration is a concept that resonates in society and concerns mainly public administration bodies, but nowadays it does not avoid private entities either. Most private companies today probably already work with electronic systems that help them in their daily activities. The theoretical part of the thesis will map the concepts of e-government within the European Union and the development in the Czech Republic since 1989, ending with the current situation. It will not fail to mention all the important legal norms that were gradually adopted and on the basis of which an electronically friendly public administration started to emerge for citizens. However, electronisation is also taking place within organisations, and the most significant shift is the performance of the records management in electronic systems designed for this purpose. The practical part of the thesis will introduce the electronic system for managing client documents and the procedures that the law firm has established for working with paper documents. Liability for harm caused by maladministration

This diploma thesis focuses on the topic of "Liability for damage caused by incorrect administrative procedure" under Act No. 82/1998 Coll., on liability for damage caused within the exercise of public authority by a decision or incorrect administrative procedure and on the amendment to Act No. 358/1992 Coll., on notaries and their activities (Notary Act), as amended. Formally, the thesis is divided into seven chapters, which are further split into individual subchapters. The first chapter deals with the historical development of legislation governing state liability within the exercise of public authority and with current sources of law, including the introduction of literature. The second chapter focuses on the characterization of the liability as a part of private law and on the basic definition of the term "incorrect administration procedure". This term is generally defined as any procedure of a public authority excluding decision-making activities, which is in conflict with generally applicable legal regulations. The third and fourth chapters respond to the adoption of Act No. 89/2012 Coll., Civil Code, and analyse individual impacts of its secondary application to liability obligations. Administrative procedure of long-term residence permit for the purpose of study

(in English): This work aims to analyze and critically evaluate the legislation of long-term residence for the purpose of study. Formally, the work is divided into four chapters, which are then divided into individual subchapters. The first chapter presents the issue of the stay of foreigners, a brief outline of the historical development of the Aliens Act and legislation in this area. The second chapter contains the characteristics of administrative proceedings in general and explains the purpose of the study of long-term residence. In the third, main chapter, an analysis of administrative proceedings in the matter of long-term residence for the purpose of study for foreigners from third countries and related legislation is performed. The last, fourth chapter evaluates the provisions of the Commission for decision- making in matters of residence of foreigners and explains its meaning. Finally, the topic is summarized, subjectively evaluated and possible solutions to shortcomings are proposed.
