Experimental and finite element analysis of composite gun barrels
Mochar, Dominik ; Trnka, Jan ; Chlada, Milan ; Valeš, František ; Gabriel, Dušan ; Červ, Jan ; Vtípil, J.
In this work experimental and numerical investigation of composite gun barrels was studied. The history of the stress-induced deformations located at the center of gun barrels on the outer surface generated by impact loading was measured for six types of barrels. The obtained signals were subsequently evaluated using wavelet transformation. Finally, the finite element analysis in Abaqus and MARC software for optimum composite material M46J was performed.
The methodology for modeling of dynamic processes using finite element method – phase II
Mochar, Dominik ; Mračko, Michal ; Gabriel, Dušan ; Kolman, Radek ; Kopačka, Ján
In this work, the dispersion properties of bilinear four-noded elements with reduced integration on the impact of two elastic cylinders for which an analytical solution is available were tested. Attention was paid to examining the effect of the element size and the time integration step on the accuracy of the numerical solution.

In this paper, explicit dynamic finite element analysis of a firing pin assembly was performed. Two different geometries of the firing pin were considered using the finite element software PMD and Abaqus. For both variants there was evaluated a stress distribution at the critical point of a tested component, that is going to be later used for a fatigue analysis of the firing pin.

In the report the results of explicit dynamic finite element analysis of a firing pin assembly are summarized. First, the verification calculation with no contact conditions is described. Next, the results of explicit contact-impact dynamic analysis are presented.
