The long pathway to the change of the family policy programmes of the CDU
Kaiserová, Tereza ; Kučera, Rudolf (advisor) ; Mlsna, Petr (referee)
The presented thesis deals with the development of the programmes of the Christian Democratic Union of Germany (CDU) in the area of family policy in the long term 1949 - 2009. During this period there was a significant transformation of the Christian-democratic image of the family and the whole concept of family policy toward the Scandinavian model, which supports the reconciliation of family and professional life. As a long-time ruling party the CDU fundamentally formed the (West) German family policy. The aim of the thesis is to analyse the transformation of the image of the family and the family policy programmes in that period. The main chapter examines the four phases of development of the programmes in this area in the context of social and demographic changes and the development of the party as such. The thesis shows on the basis of various sources, mainly of three long-time and several thematic party programmes of the CDU that its image of family gradually extended from the classical model of a married couple with their own children with the traditional division of male and female roles to all forms of cohabitation with children. The party emphasizes on partnership, equality and free choice of parents but also the constitutional protection of marriage and family. The thesis presents this...
German nuclear phase-out in 2011 and political motivations of CDU/CSU
Bundová, Klára ; Nigrin, Tomáš (advisor) ; Mlsna, Petr (referee)
This bachelor thesis focuses on the German nuclear phase-out in 2011 and political motivations of CDU/CSU. The main objective of this paper is to confirm or reject the statement that CDU/CSU was politically motivated in order to attempt to prevent large vote losses in the upcoming Landtag elections. Nuclear phase-out was not an entirely new development for Germany; there is a long tradition of a strong opposition to nuclear technology and already during the government of red-green coalition after 1998 the first nuclear phase-out was agreed. Nuclear energy was nevertheless considered to be a convenient bridging technology for CDU/CSU before Germany could fully rely on renewable sources of energy and belonged to the front supporters of nuclear energy. With the inauguration of the new federal government in 2009 formed by CDU/CSU and FDP, an amendment to the atomic law was agreed and the coalition managed to extend the operational lifespan of nuclear power plants. Their attitude to nuclear energy remained unchanged until the Fukushima accident in Japan in March 2011, which provoked a U-turn in their policy and they suddenly decided to support nuclear phase-out. The official explanation of the government seems to be insufficient since in no other country had the Japan nuclear accident such a big impact....

Špeciánová, Sára ; Nigrin, Tomáš (advisor) ; Mlsna, Petr (referee)
On 11th March 2011 was Japan hit by tsunami, which caused among others the accident in nuclear energy station in Fukushima. This disaster has influenced the German energy policy a lot and this despite the fact that Japan is situated on the other side of the world. The real risks of nuclear power in Germany didn't change as well. This paper follows the changes of energy policy that were caused by the accident. Because of the long-term character of energy decisions, is it important to mention the period of red-green alliance, which was very essential. The paper concentrates on the years 2010 and 2011, when the most changes happened. The changes in nuclear sector and renewable sources sector are described more in detail. The aim of this paper is the qualitative description of these changes and the evaluation of their consequences and the overall impact on the German power industry. The nuclear disaster in Fukushima accelerated the development within the energy transition, which started in 2000. The changes were very fast and the biggest impact was caused in nuclear sector, which was the acceleration of nuclear phase out. In renewable sources sector was the effect minimal, the targets remained unchanged. The energy transition goes very well, despite some negative effects. In future would it be...

Katedra německých a rakouských studií. Vedoucí práce PhDr. Tomáš Nigrin, Ph.D. Abstract A wide range of changes in the German energy sector, known under the name Energiewende, is associated primarily with the government of the Red-Green Coalition ruling in the period 1998 - 2005. Although the then government of the Social Democrats and the Greens introduced the whole concept, the centre-right government of Helmut Kohl, the predecessor of the Red-Green Coalition and the government of Angela Merkel in the years 2009 - 2013, helped significantly to implement Energiewende. The thesis is focused mainly on 3 factors with which the government of H. Kohl and A. Merkel contributed to the implementation of Energiewende. The thesis also examines the relevance of the aforementioned steps in relation to the whole energy concept. Comparsion of control boards and financing of the public broadcasters in the Czech Republic and Austria
Havelka, Vít ; Šafařík, Petr (advisor) ; Mlsna, Petr (referee)
This bachelor thesis focuses on the financing and broadcasting councils of the public service broadcasters in Austria and the Czech Republic, examining namely Austrian Broadcasting (Österreichischer Rundfunk) and Czech Television (Česká televize) along with Czech Radio (Český rozhlas). These institutions are often at the center of controversy due to their level of dependence on local political representatives. Their critics argue that they submit to political pressure and give up one of their main purposes - providing an objective, independent, unbiased, and balanced news service. The independence of public service broadcasters generally relies on stable, predictable funding and impartial supervision. For this reason, these two features are analyzed in this paper. More specifically, it examines how the aforementioned media are financed, how the broadcasting councils are appointed, and how the status quo interacts with the local political culture. On top of that, the discussion involves international recommendations of institutions such as the European Council, the European Union and UNESCO. This thesis makes use of the synchronous comparative methodological approach. At first the situation in each country is analyzed and subsequently compared to one another. This paper provides an overview over the...
Germany, France and Euro Crisis. Will Germany and France find a common solution? Convergences und divergences in the German-French crisis management
Audiová, Kristýna ; Mlsna, Petr (advisor) ; Novotný, Lukáš (referee)
This diploma thesis deals with the topic German-French cooperation on crisis management in the eurozone. Germany and France, represented by chancellor Merkel and president Sarkozy, cooperated together very closely during the crisis and contributed significantly to the further deepening of European economic and monetary union. The aim of this thesis is to analyze and compare the features of the German and French European policy and the German and French ideas about the functioning of economic and monetary union. Secondly, to examine the progress of the German- French cooperation on finding crisis solutions. And finally to define convergence and divergence in the crisis management of both countries. Due to different ideas about economic policy - the German ordoliberalism and French concept called Gouvernance économique - both countries were forced to make mutual concessions. The most important compromises within the anti-crisis measures are the bailouts to indebted countries, European rescue funds or tightening budgetary discipline of European countries by using the fiscal pact. Nevertheless, there are still areas in which both countries disagree, primarily the Eurobonds and other measures to support economic growth. The last part is devoted to the question of German models implementation into the EU and the...
