NEW ON THE „OLD“ – Brno, Bratislavská - Stará Corner
Vašut, Radka ; Bořecký, Petr (referee) ; Mléčka, Jan (advisor)
The specified plot is located close to the historical city centre of Brno, Zábrdovice, more specifically in the 'Bronx' area of Brno. This area has its own specific character, differing from the rest of the city. During the successive historical development the area has acquired a specific nature without typical city blocks. It is concentrated towards the inner courtyards, where various still functional services are located. The overall concept of the new urban development follows the current unique structure. My intention was to create a small 'town' within the city. A set of structures predominantly with residential function is included here. As a growing interest in living in this area is expected in the future, my effort was to design a great variety of housing that would be able to meet the demands of wide range of people. This diversity also complies with the requirements of anticipated future residents from different social or age groups. The whole concept is based on linking the buildings to their interior courtyards, which has been intended to become the heart of the project. The flats are mostly entered from the outside, from the open passages to the courtyards, or from the upper floor terraces. This way the anonymity of the local residents is reduced, while their safety and quality of community life increases.

The construction of the project documentation for construction is thoroughly resolved the southeast wing at a scale of 1:50. Furthermore, we can find several architectural details. Residential Complex in Brno - Komín
Frolík, Jakub ; Gale, Roman (referee) ; Mléčka, Jan (advisor)
An important element of this plot is its surroundings. Strictly morphology and slope of the valley in which the parcel is located. My first idea was to create two linear buildings apartment buildings, among which will reflect the valley in the form of a courtyard. Splits the parcel to a third of the 6 apartment house creates a sense of greater privacy and comfort. Because the emphasis is on orentaci to the cardinal, and the conclusion of three courtyards created a standardized apartment block in its open floor plan shaped L. Double odzrcadlením longitudinal axis vziknou three separate blocks, between which a meandering vine valley, connecting residents, as well as river connects the city.

Neighborhood
Bartoš, Roman ; Rudiš, Martin (referee) ; Mléčka, Jan (advisor)
For millennia people modified and adjusted their surroundings in an endless hunt for comfort, safety and survival. Humanity grew, evolved, matured and died together. The environment directly reflected the efforts made by its community. Families lived under one roof together, right next to the village common. Humans knew to respect the nature and coexisted with it. This changed drastically over the last couple centuries. After several technological breakthroughs and a few wars the technological evolution accelerated right out of control. The need for a neighborhood begun to fade. Sunday markets were replaced by supermarkets, eye-to-eye talks became scarce as we glued ourselves to various screens. Low fences were replaced by tall concrete walls, we built a system of selfish private bubbles. NEIGHBOR+HOOD attempts to find a compromise between both extremes. It is understanding and balance among the spaces for ME and the spaces for US. It is a place for neighbors, a tight-knit community of friends under one tree, sitting at a common table. It is a natural, comfortable, peaceful, safe and humane environment in the suburbs. The design offers to the fictional inhabitants of Udánky hill an opportunity to identify with their home and its surroundings. All that and more in total symbiosis with surrounding nature. NEIGHBOR+HOOD is human, self-sustaining, ecological housing estate. It is the home of neighborhood.
Two-generation housing in Slovakia
Šebová, Petra ; Jančok, Martin (referee) ; Mléčka, Jan (advisor)
The proposal deals with the topic of living in multi-generational family houses built in Slovakia in the 1970’s. Despite the former ability of the owners to adapt the original architects’ plan towards their own preferences, nowadays they feel discomfort using the house. The image of multi-generational usage of the house turned out to be false over the time. Currently the houses are only partially inhabited and the demanding maintenance of the large house is increasingly difficult for its original inhabitants, who are usually already retired. The project suggests transformation of the large family houses into flats while at the same time presents an alternative to the development of municipal housing in the village, currently planned by local authorities.
