Cosmetic equipment in the Aegean Late Bronze Age
Prchalová, Štěpánka ; Pavúk, Peter (advisor) ; Matoušková, Monika (referee)
This thesis aims to contribute to the knowledge of cosmetic aids in the Aegean region in the Late Bronze Age and to create an overview of selected types of aids. The main source of research is secondary bibliographies dealing with grave finds. The previous development of cosmetic aids in the field will be outlined. Selected types of aids are further described in terms of material, types, decoration and socio-economic context. Several significant findings are listed for each type. Within the framework of the work, the aspect of the cult of the warrior is highlighted, which runs through the entire theme. The placement of tools in the contemporary concept of the beauty of the context is addressed in the last chapter. Work on a more comprehensive view of the issue of cosmetic aids in the Late Bronze Age in the culturally related region of Egeida. The reason why people beautified themselves and what tools they used for self-cultivation may be relevant to historical circumstances. The information gained from the study of beautification and cosmetic tools could help to understand Late Bronze Age society and specifically the warriors in warrior graves and their role in society and overall historical context.
Scheduling problems under uncertainty with nonidentical machines
Matoušková, Monika ; Branda, Martin (advisor) ; Lachout, Petr (referee)
This thesis deals with operational fixed interval scheduling problems under uncer- tainty. The topic has been covered for identical machines and the theory is summarized in this thesis. The stochastic programming problem has a deterministic reformulation based on network flow under the assumption that the multivariate distribution of ran- dom delays follows an Archimedean copula. In this thesis, we focus on the problem with heterogeneous machines. When there are more possible types of machines, this problem somewhat complicates. The deterministic problem with no delays and more than one machine type is NP-hard. We generalized the deterministic reformulation of the stochas- tic problem with possible random delays for nonidentical machines. This formulation for more than one machine type loses an important property that holds for identical machines reformulation using network flow. Then an algorithm based on Lagrangean relaxation is proposed, implemented and compared with a solution obtained by MIP solver. 1
The Use of Symbols in Minoan and Mycenaean Iconography
Matoušková, Monika ; Pavúk, Peter (advisor) ; Blakolmer, Fritz (referee)
This Master thesis deals with symbolic objects appearing in the Bronze Age Aegean art in the 3rd and especially the 2nd millennium BCE. Recurrent types of scenes and motifs speak for the fact that there must have existed a complex iconographic system of Minoan and Mycenaean art. An analytical method aiming at single elements of composite scenes may bring us closer to better understanding of this system and to its more objective interpretation. The study, therefore, focuses on the iconography of each individual symbol and also discusses its possible parallels in art of the neighbouring Bronze Age cultures. Nonetheless, the Aegean iconographic system was not strictly codified throughout the entire Bronze Age and some of the themes evolved or were specific only for certain eras. For that reason, the studied material is treated in a diachronic approach so as to stress the iconographic evolution of the symbols' use. The aim is to provide a profound analysis of the rules applied to the symbols in Minoan and Mycenaean art, to investigate their possible origins, and finally to examine their mutual interconnections.
Measures of dependence
Matoušková, Monika ; Pawlas, Zbyněk (advisor) ; Dvořák, Jiří (referee)
The most common measure of dependence is the correlation coefficient. Its problem is that it can be zero for two dependent random variables. We will discuss two measures of dependence, which are equal to zero if and only if the two random variables are inde- pendent. We will compare them with Pearson's correlation coefficient. The first one will be the maximal correlation, which is often difficult to calculate. That is why we define the maximal polynomial correlation, which is easier to calculate and is non-decreasing in a degree of a polynomial. We also define the distance correlation and we discuss other ways of the expression of distance correlation, which can be used in the calculation. We deal with the case of normal distribution and we show some calculations of these measures of dependence. 1
So Called Sacred Knot in the Minoan and Mycenaean Art
Matoušková, Monika ; Pavúk, Peter (advisor) ; Mynářová, Jana (referee)
Minoan and Mycenaean iconography uses several symbols with religious meaning. One of them is the well-known sacred knot. This sign occurs on seals and sealings as well as on frescoes and pottery, and there are also a few three-dimensional examples. This thesis discusses at first the look and the shape of the sacred knot, in order to rule out confusion with similar symbols. Next, it is followed by the study of its use on various kinds of materials. Finally, there is the question of its origin, whether it is possible that the sign could have been derived from an Egyptian or Near Eastern symbol. Based on this research, we should be able to interpret the meaning of the sacred knot, although this explanation cannot be exact as we are still missing the decipherment of the Cretan hieroglyphic and Linear A scripts. Key words: sacred knot, seals, sealings, frescoes, pottery, ivory, faience, ankh, Isis knot tiet, sign of protection sa, symbol of Inanna, Knossos, Hagia Triada, Mycenae
Planning and managing of training and development of people working in organization
Matoušková, Monika ; Kocianová, Renata (advisor) ; Raisová, Tereza (referee)
Nowadays, the lifelong leaming and especially the continuing professional education has become increasingly important as a key instrument of the employment and the flexibility of individuals in the labor market. Not only the labor market, but also the ability to live in this world full of changes leads to the necessity of the lifelong leaming. Almost every organization has already been aware of the necessity of the training and development of its employees. It has a main importance for its continued profitable operation. The responsibility lies primarily in its planning, the management and the control of the personnel activities. Many companies are becoming "leaming organizations". In this environment, all people can leam and develop in the work process. Moreover, they can leam and develop mutually. The upgrade of skills and the development of the staff competencies are an integral part of the human resources strategy. For the effective system functioning, the organization must be in line with the human resources strategy and the business strategy. For the planning of the training and development of employees it is important the strategie human resources planning, which must be consistent with the strategie objectives of the organization, its cul ture and vision. If the company pays a constant attention to...
Perceptions of addictive substance of senior population.
Unemployment and its psychological-social effects in different stages of life
MATOUŠKOVÁ, Monika
The Bachelor Thesis deals with the issue of the psychological and social impacts of unemployment on human life. Its main objective is to demonstrate these negative impacts, to reveal how unemployment affects everyday life of adult people and to find essential differences as for the understanding of unemployment in three phases of adulthood. In the end, the work illustrates what difficulties people of a different age group have to encounter. The theoretical part focuses on the current situation of the aforesaid issue. The attention is concentrated on the following chapters: the importance of work to human nature, labour market, unemployment and characteristics of each period of adulthood. This part is concluded by the detailed description of psychological and social impacts of human life. In order to accomplish the objectives of this thesis, quantitative research in form of non-standardized interview was executed. The respondents from the following age groups, young people from 18 to 26 years, middle aged people from 30 to 45 years and people from 45 to 60 years, were asked according to the previously set criteria. The part dedicated to research describes the personal experiences of individual unemployed respondents. The latter are divided into three groups which are summarized in the end of this research and later analysed in the chapter dedicated to the discussion. The results based on this research proved the existence of the majority of psychological and social impacts stated in the theoretic part. They confirmed the fact that the older generation struggles with the problem of unemployment more than younger generations. The basic difference in how to understand unemployment was proved on a different perception of the aforementioned impacts. This problem becomes more serious depending on the age, as well as the difference of psychological needs which get worse with regard to the older generation. The acquired results of this Bachelor Thesis should further serve in order to extend psychological and social care of unemployed people registered at the Employment Agencies. The example is illustrated on the multidisciplinary team providing primary prevention and comprehensive care of unemployed people.
