Processing of heart sounds signals
Němcová, Simona ; Matějková, Magdaléna (referee) ; Vondra, Vlastimil (advisor)
This bachelor thesis is focused on the heart sound signal. It describes the principles of hear sound formation, measurement methods and especially the analysis of the measured phonocardiography signal. In the practical part of this thesis, the algorithm for detecting the first and the second heart sounds is designed by using MATLAB software. Its principle is realized in finding maximum or center of gravity in the filtered phonocardiography signal.
Assessment of the uncertainty of the ultrasound nuchal translucency measurement
Matejková, Magdaléna ; Pavlík,, Tomáš (referee) ; Jarkovský,, Jiří (advisor)
The issue of congenital malformations in the fetus is important part of fetal medicine. This project is comparing the measurement uncertainty of congenital malformations in the fetus markers and it is focused on screening markers in first and second trimester of pregnancy. The recommendations of Fetal Medicine Foundation (FMF) are decisive in this project. The issues of determination measurement uncertainty in biochemical laboratory and measurement uncertainty of ultrasound markers are also mentioned. These both issues are compared and methodology of measurement uncertainty determination of nuchal translucency ultrasound marker is designed. The methodic is based on biochemical determination of measurement uncertainty. The methodic is then realized on the data set from six medical doctors and is statistically evaluated.
Properties of pulse wave velocity in human body during various excitations
Matejková, Magdaléna ; Halámek, Josef (referee) ; Vondra, Vlastimil (advisor)
The thesis is concerned with the analysis of measuring pulse wave velocity in human body with the aid of whole-body multichannel bioimpedance which was developed at ISI AS CR, v.v.i.. The evaluation of pulse wave velocity can provide us with important information about the state of vessel compliance which is one of the basic parameters informing on their physiological state. The examination of the state of vascular system is a very important part of early diagnostics because its pathological states are the main contributor to the rise of cardiovascular diseases and disease mortality. The thesis is concerned with the theoretical analysis together with the available methods of valuation of the state of vascular system that use measuring of pulse wave velocity. The main part of the thesis deals with the analysis of the whole-body multichannel bioimpedance measurement. The proposed and programmed protocol that summarizes and visualizes all obtained information is a part of this thesis. This is currently used as an output of the experimental measurement by this method. Data file for statistical processing contains the values of the pulse wave velocity of 35 healthy volunteers and subsequently the properties of pulse wave are assessed at various excitations.
Spatial creation by Hugo Demartini
MATĚJKOVÁ, Magdaléna
The bachelor thesis named 'Spatial creation by Hugo Demartini' is processed in both theoretical and creative, practical parts. The theoretical part of the thesis is devoted to the life and work of Hugo Demartini, with a focus on his structural experiments. One part of the thesis is pictorial supplement, which complements the artist's work. The practical part of the bachelor thesis is composed of three sculptures with wood elements inspired by the work of art of Hugo Demartini.
Naegleria: from free-living protist to brain eating deadly pathogen
Matějková, Magdalena ; Mach, Jan (advisor) ; Marková, Lenka (referee)
N. fowleri is mostly a free-living amoeboflagellate which, in favorable conditions, can occasionally adopt a parasitic lifestyle. In such cases, the amoeba becomes causative agent of primary amoebic meningoencephalitis, a severe and largely fatal disease occurring in several mammals including humans. The treatment of this disease is complicated by many unwanted side-effects of available drugs and a lack of prompt diagnostic methods. Within the Naegleria genus, N. fowleri is the only human pathogen. According to up-to-date knowledge, the pathogenicity of this species is due to its metabolic properties as well as to a particular set of proteins expressed by this protist. Besides a wide scale of enzymes, some of these proteins participate in the formation of cellular structures which are crucial for the pathogenesis. All these particularities should be targeted in a search for a better treatment. The thesis is focusing on a comparison of N. fowleri with related species N. gruberi and N. lovaniensis, stressing out the differences of N. fowleri from these non-pathogenic species. Key words: Naegleria fowleri, primary amoebic meningoencephalitis, immune response, pathogenesis, facultative parasitism
The Phenomenon of Life within the Aesthetic Experience of Nature
Matějková, Magdalena ; Dadejík, Ondřej (advisor) ; Kaplický, Martin (referee)
The Verity in the Aesthetic Appreciation of Nature by A. Carlson and R. W. Hepburn Abstract The thesis being presented deals with the issues of aesthetic appreciation of nature. The aim of the work is to examine the possible meanings of the concept of verity as a feature of the aesthetic appreciation of nature. Firstly, the work analyzes and compare the theories of two recent authors, champions of the cognitive approach in the aesthetics of nature, Allen Carlson and Ronald. W. Hepburn. Each of them relates the aesthetic appreciation of nature with its discovering in a different way. Their approaches are analyzed in three main points. First, the analysis focuses on the terms the authors employ, second, it focuses on the significance the authors attribute to the veracity of the aesthetic experience, and finally, it describes the concept of thought component as it figures by both authors. Subsequently, these two approaches are compared and criticized. The final part of the work develops the ideas presented in the previous analysis. The thought component of the aesthetic experience is presented in a more relativist way and the advantages of such an open approach are pointed out. This new approach is roughly compared with the theory of M. Budd and it is confronted with the concept of indexical fallacy of C....
Garden as an Aesthetic Object
Matějková, Magdalena ; Dadejík, Ondřej (advisor) ; Zuska, Vlastimil (referee)
This text is focused on garden as a specific object of aesthetic appreciation. Its first part discovers some of the specificities of this aesthetic object, among others, its high variability, unpredictability and complexity. Within an accordingly formed aesthetic experience, perceiver's attention is focused on the temporal dimension of experience and his reflection is intensified. The same happens while experiencing melancholy, which can therefore be considered for a specific aesthetic emotion. After these considerations, cemetery appears to be an ideal environment for an aesthetic experience of garden tinged with melancholy. The natural proximity between garden and cemetery is emphasized thanks to the secularisation of death which makes it easier to employ a scientific narrative in the constitution of aesthetic value of both garden and cemetery. Key terms Garden, melancholy, cemetery, environment, reflection, aesthetic experience
