Author: Pánková Jitka Institution: INSTITUTE OF SOCIAL MEDICINE MEDICAL FACULTY IN HRADEC KRALOVE, DEPARTMENT OF NURSING Title work: Usage of humour in Nursing Supervisor: Mgr. Michaela Votroubková Number as regards: 98 Number supplements: 10 Year defences: 2009 Keywords: humour, nursing, geriatrics, experimental research, patient The thesis Usage of Humour in Nursing is divided into two main parts - a theoretical part and an empirical part. The first part summarises the main knowledge of gelotology and the ways of application of humour in patients. The branch of nursing, its main ideas leading to satisfying of patients' needs are defined in this part. Some typical problems of geriatric patients are mentioned in the theoretical part. The empirical part describes an experiment carried out in a group of patients in Teaching Hospital Hradec Kralove. Subjective and objective indicators of the patients' condition of an experimental group and a control group were observed and compared. Humour was applied bedside in both groups of patients. There were used audio and video recordings of known crowd-pleasers. The results indicate the possibility of successful usage of humour in nursing / clinical practice.

Author: Andrea Klímová Institution: Charles University, Faculty of Medicine in Hradec Králové, Department of Social Medicine, Division of Nursing Title of the thesis: The Possibilities of Using European Grant Programmes in the Area of Health Care and Education in Hradec Králové Region Supervisor: Prof. PhDr. Jiří Mareš, CSc. Number of pages: 170 Number of enclosures: 2 Year of the thesis defence: 2009 Key words: grants, allocation, absorption capacity, disparity The bachelor thesis elucidates the possibilities for obtaining financial support in the area of health care and related education for potential applicants in Hradec Králové Region from the European grant programmes, for the purpose of improving health care and education. A substantial financial allocation intended for the above-mentioned areas in the current programming period of 2007-2013 is emphasized. The Community Programmes which are not well-known especially amongst the non-professional public are also presented. Their importance will increase after the end of the current programming period when it is highly probable that the other grant programmes will be reduced for the Czech Republic. To inspire the potential applicants in preparing new project proposals, the projects which have already been carried out are described. This...
Quality of life in patients with epilepsy
Čechová, Eva ; Mareš, Jiří (advisor) ; Švecová, Dagmar (referee) ; Hojdíková, Helena (referee)
This thesis is focused on the quality of life of patiens with epilepsy. The theoretical part contains information about epilepsy, definition and treatment. There is also explanation of "quality of life" in general and quality of life with epilepsy. The next empirical part includes surrey performed on patiens with epilepsy. In order to find out the perception of own quality of life with epilepsy, has been used a specific questionnaire for patiens with epilepsy. Finaly, in the last part, there is a sumary of the surrey's results.
Long-acting stress factors at the intensive care unit (ICU)
Kalousová, Andrea ; Štefančíková, Mariana (advisor) ; Mareš, Jiří (referee) ; Rybářová, Marie (referee)
The medical care of a nurse at the intensive care unit (ICU) is both physically and mentally demanding. The bachelor's examination paper concerns the stress factors affecting nurse's work and methods are used to eliminate the stress. A question-form consisting of four parts was assembled for this purpose. First two parts were charting frequency and consequence of the stress. Second two parts located by the help of both-nonverbal and verbal methods use for elimination of the stress. The question-form was filled by 86 nurses from ICU in Teaching hospital in Hradec Králové. All data were summarized, analysed and annotated.
Professional stress of operating room nurses
Klicperová, Jana ; Mareš, Jiří (advisor) ; Slowik, Regina (referee) ; Míčková, Eva (referee)
In the thesis I tried to put the clinical practice operating room nurses into the psychosocial context. On the basis of scientific literature I tried to bring three different concepts of stress, show the relationship between stress and human health. Describe the typical history of stress and its external manifestations and characterize the concept of work-related stress. Characterize work-related stress for nurses operating theater and to give an overview of the main stress factors that act on nurses working in operating rooms. With support in the scientific literature summarized practices that facilitate the management of acute stress. In the empirical part of my effort was to determine how often stress acts in occurring of the operating room using a stress situation which the sisters are exposed the most personally. Find out what are the most common ways to approach these situations after working hours. What are the mainframe skills of nurses in the operating theater, how to rank themselves as operating room nurses in their field of knowledge and skills to which should be adopted.
Early diagnostic of mnestic disorders in neurodegenerative diseases
Laczó, Jan ; Bojar, Martin (advisor) ; Jirák, Roman (referee) ; Mareš, Jan (referee) ; Rektorová, Irena (referee)
The ageing of the world's population means that the number of people with dementia, especially Alzheimer's disease (AD), will dramatically increase. That's why there is now a great effort to detect the presence of AD in its earliest predementia stages, in the stage of mild cognitive impairment (MCI), and particularly to identify individuals with amnestic syndrome of the hippocampal type (Ha-MCI - preclinical AD). The aim of our studies was to reveal whether spatial navigation testing could serve as an early biomarker of AD - whether spatial navigation is impaired early in patients with MCI, especially in Ha-MCI patients. We used the human analogue of the Morris water maze, the Hidden Goal Task (HGT), which is designed t! o separate two different modes of navigation, egocentric (body- centred, hippocampus independent) and allocentric (world-centred, hippocampus dependent), using a real space navigation setting called the Blue Velvet Arena (BVA), fully enclosed cylindrical arena, as well as a computer version of the BVA. Our results suggest that spatial navigation is impaired already in patients with amnestic MCI, who are more likely to progress to AD, especially in those with amnestic syndrome of the hippocampal type. The Ha-MCI patients presented severe spatial navigation impairment similar to that seen in...
Statistical aspects of nuclear collective dynamics
Macek, Michal ; Cejnar, Pavel (advisor) ; Kvasil, Jan (referee) ; Mareš, Jiří (referee)
The current PhD thesis presents a collection of selected articles related to the theoretical and numerical study of low-energy collective dynamics of atomic nuclei. The articles were published or recently submitted to international physics journals and were authored or co-authored by the author of the thesis. The eects in collective dynamics have been studied within the framework of two common models-the interacting boson model (IBM) and to a lesser extent the geometric collective model (GCM). The "statistical aspects" in the title relate predominantly to the interplay of ordered and chaotic behavior observed in properties of quantum eigenstates as well as in the classical limits of the models. The main attention was devoted to correlations between the measures of regularity/chaos and the presence of exact and approximate dynamical symmetries. An important subject of the studies were also the relationships between the properties of the classical and quantum solutions of the models both in the integrable regime as well as in the mixed regime containing elements of regularity and chaos simultaneously.
