The Reveald: Non-radio reality show of Czech Radio

This thesis surveys the influence of technological development, digitisation in particular, on changing of working methods in radio broadcast. The key terms are multimédia, new media, interactivity und individualization of media content. The master thesis The position and the function of the public service radio in the age of multimedia deals with changes of production of Český rozhlas (Czech radio) from 2005 till the present time in connection with the beginning of multimedia technologies. The most important chapteres of the theoretical part introduce definitions of basic concepts which are important basis for the analytical part: multimedia, media convergence, concept of active audience, interactivity and digitization. Another chapteres deal with public service media and technological and cultural development in the territory of Czech republic. The aim of practical part is to analyze technological changes, which happend in Český rozhlas after beginning of multimedia era, by using the method of case study. The purpose is to do complex introduction of multimedia platforms by means radio mediates its production. Another aim is to find out, how multimedia influence interaction between radio and its audience. The master thesis focus on the analysis of social networks through which Český rozhlas communicates with audience. The text also deal with the question, if beginning of multimedia era influences forms of traditional formats of broadcasting or if new formats emerge.
Jan Petránek - the broadcasting political journalist

Bachelor thesis "Jan Petránek - The Broadcasting Political Journalist" deals with longlife activites of Czech journalist Jan Petranek and his contribution to the Czech political broadcasting. The text also contains overview of political and social situation in former Czechoslovakia in the second half of the twentieth century and how it is reflected in the overall operations of former Československý rozhlas (the Czechoslovakian Radio). The key method used to compile this diploma thesis was an Oral History i. e. interviews with Jan Petranek and his former colleagues, also journalists from former Československý rozhlas. The following personalities were interviewed: Věra Šťovíčková-Heroldová, Jiří Dienstbier, Ondřej Neff and Karel Tejkal. The Chapters in the thesis are listed in chronological order to link up clearly and describe logically the phases of Jan Petránek's career and his professional development. It briefly describes his childhood and parents, and explains why he begun to work as a journalist in Československý rozhlas in 1951. The following chapter describes in detail Petranek's broadcasting experience up until 1967. Contemporary radio reportage in the broadcasting of Czech Radio Radiožurnál

The objective of this bachelor's thesis is to define the contemporary radio reportage in the broadcasting of Czech Radio Radiožurnál, the most popular public radio station in the Czech Republic. In the theoretical part the author defines this syntetic genre and terms its symptomatic attributes. The author based his research on the genesis of the radio reportage documented in the academic literature and also he used variety of theories by renowned media experts. Collected data has created a complex chart to classify radio reportage and its derivatives. Concurrently it provides a complete outline of syntetic elements of reportage used in most radio genres. The research of this bachelor thesis focuses on series of interviews with selected respondents from the leadership of Czech Radio and also several case studies by professional radio reporters. The analysis of the material together with the statements of journalists in contrast with the theoretical part of this thesis delivers a comprehensive explanation of the contemporary radio reportage. Radio broadcasting of the CNC in the prague uprising in may 1945

This work deals with the Prague Uprising in May 1945. The main area of research is broadcasting Czech National Council, which was the highest authority for the organization of the rebellion on the right of the radio. And one hand Czech radio, but also Prague street local radio. This work deals with the way Czech National Council communicate with the radio as he passed messages to be sent, who were the people who these broadcasts were in charge, a significant space in the work focuses on the very content of broadcast messages, which are divided by days. The operational objective of this work is to deepen knowledge of the Prague Uprising itself, as the author of the text impression that this event is not very well known, while fighting on the barricades of Prague is one of the largest battles of Czech history, when within a few days of May 1945, died 2000 fighters.
Radio in the Netherlands

The purpose of this thesis (Radio in the Netherlands) was to compare the radio broadcasting systems in the Czech Republic and in the Netherlands, specifically in the relation to broadcasting for specific groups of population. Radio in the Netherlands is divided into four chapters. Chapter I presents the history of broadcasting in the Netherlands. The Dutch and the Czech radio broadcasting have a different history and structure, which reflects in the public broadcasting for specific groups as well as for the majority. The Dutch publicservice radio started with broadcasting for several divided groups of the society due to the splitting of the Dutch society into separate groups in the zo" century. Publieke Omroep of the 21SI century attempts to integrate the society better through integration of all groups of the Dutch society within its broadcasting (programs forMoslems as well as Hindus and Catholics, news in Arabic and Turkish) as well as trough universal programs of the organization NOS. This bachelor thesis focuses on Radio 1, its history, its programming format and specific language devices used by the presenters. The aim of the thesis is to identify and describe distinctive features of broadcast, which create "the identity" of Radio 1. The broadcasting scheme is not based on a previously scheduled playlist, as the presenters define the choice of music themselves. Their manners of moderating are essential for the analytical part of this thesis. In the first chapter of the analysis, the deviation from the Czech language standard is noted. The second chapter compares two programmes (Odvážné Palce - Radio 1 and Čelisti - ČRo 4 - Radio Wave) from three perspectives: the structure of content, language devices of the presenters and interpretations of the programme. Both radio station share similar programming format and both programmes are of the same genre and focus on the same theme. The conclusion presents the summary of distinctive features, which contribute to create "the identity" of Radio 1.
The Specifies of Alternative Radio Formats Targeted Towards Young Adult Listeners

The thesis on The Specifies of Alternative Radio Formats Targeted Towards Young Adult Listeners reflects radio broadcasting which is mainly targeted on young listeners. It focuses on the current image of this broadcasting in terms of Czech media environment. At first, the thesis familiarises its readers with basic terms that are used in connection with the issue of radio formats. Then it continues with the overview of music and journalism genres, which are crucial for the distinction between various radio formats. The closing chapter of the theoretical part introduces two radio stations which were chosen to represent the cathegory of alternative radio format; these are Radio 1 and Radio Wave. In the following empirical part, a one-week broadcasting of these particular stations is being analyzed. Afterwards, a summary of the main similarities and differences between the stations is presented. The main attributes of alternative radio format as such are summed up then. In the final chapter, the thesis presents an additional public opinion research, which explores the image of alternative radio held by young audience. For the sake of clarity, the findings of this thesis are presented from the most general facts to the most concrete ones.
