Changes in population structures in the European Union countries based on census data
Kahoun, Lukáš ; Šídlo, Luděk (advisor) ; Maláková, Kateřina (referee)
Changes in population structures in the European Union countries based on census data Abstract Population structures have undergone dynamic development in recent decades. This thesis focuses on the development of structure by age, marital status, economic activity and education in 1991-2011. The thesis primarily uses census data, because they have unified methodology across EU countries. In particular, the thesis analyses the state and the change in the shares of the different structure categories, but also uses more detailed analytical methods. According to the results of the age structure analysis, all observed countries have aged considerably, which also influenced the development of other structures. The dominant trend in other structures was the rise in the share of single and widowed people, economically active women and higher-educated people. The thesis also deals with the influence of geographical location on the researched structures. Bigger homogeneity of structural changes was observed among geographically close countries. Key words: population structures, age, marital status, economic activity, education, Europe, census data
Development of total mortality and mortality from selected causes of death in the Czech and Slovak regions since 2001
Mondeková, Alexandra ; Burcin, Boris (advisor) ; Maláková, Kateřina (referee)
The main aim of the bachelor thesis is to analyse total mortality and selected causes of death in Czechia and Slovakia, based at regional level. It means a comparison of their development for each region in both countries. The analyse is monitored from 2001 to 2018. The first part of the analysis is devoted to the analysis of the total mortality using various indicators as a life expectancy at birth and life expectancy at 65 years. Also, this part is finished by decomposition method which complements the results of life expectancy at birth. Following the development of total mortality, second part of the analysis is about selected causes of death. Only the diseases that are most numerous in both countries were chosen for this part of the thesis. In terms of total mortality, the main result is that mortality rates are improving in the Czechia and Slovakia, which is reflected in increasing of life expectancy. As part of the analysis of mortality from selected causes of death, it was found that during the observed period there was a decrease in the intensity of mortality from the category of diseases of the circulatory system. The trend from mortality in cancer is slightly different, because while the intensity of mortality is declining in the Czechia, in Slovakia the trend is very slow for men and essentially...
Regional differentiation of mortality from the most important diseases of the circulatory system in Czechia
Tvrz, Michal ; Burcin, Boris (advisor) ; Maláková, Kateřina (referee)
Regional differentiation of mortality from the most important diseases of the circulatory system in Czechia Abstract The objective of this thesis is to describe and evaluate, for Czechia at both the national and regional level and in the time frame of 1997-2017, the main developmental trends in male and female mortality from the diseases of the circulatory system as a whole and its most important individual diagnoses. The results of the analysis confirmed that the diseases of the circulatory system were the most common cause of death for men and women both at the national and regional levels throughout the period under review. Nevertheless, there was a significant reduction of mortality rates for the diseases in question in both sexes, especially in the case of ischaemic heart diseases, cerebrovascular diseases and atherosclerosis. In contrast, mortality from hypertensive diseases and other forms of heart disease increased in both sexes. Mortality from cardiovascular diseases in districts largely followed the trends from the national level. For the selected causes of death, the patterns of the regional distribution of the values of the standardized mortality rates were (during the observed years) largely similar for both sexes. Overall, mortality rate for the group of cardiovascular diseases decreased in...
The lowest-mortality countries: their specifics and trends of development
Stýblová, Julie ; Burcin, Boris (advisor) ; Maláková, Kateřina (referee)
The lowest-mortality countries: their specifics and trends of development Abstract The main objective of this work is to analyze mortality rates in countries with the lowest mortality rates between 1990 and 2013 for each gender separately. The life expectancy at birth indicator was used to assess the developmental trends of overall mortality, followed by the probability of death, which allowed for the expression of age-related mortality changes, and the contribution of individual age groups to the change in life expectancy at birth was determined by one-dimensional decomposition. For a more detailed look, the mortality rate of selected group of death causes was assessed using a standardized mortality rate. The two-dimensional decomposition allowed to quantify the contribution of age groups and the main causes of death and thus to evaluate how the age group and cause of death contributed to the change in life expectancy at birth. In all countries, the overall mortality rate is decreasing and no interruption of this trend is observed. The results show that the states are getting closer to each other and do not show much differences. All selected countries are characterized by a decline in mortality, mainly in older age groups. The states also change the order of the most important causes of death, when a...
Czechia in the European context of malignant neoplasms mortality: analysis of potential factors of level and structure of mortality from this cause of death in the latest years

Czechia in the European context of malignant neoplasms mortality: analysis of potential factors of level and structure of mortality from this cause of death in the latest years Abstract This diploma thesis sets two main goals. The first main goal is to describe the trends and the current situation of the level and structure of mortality from malignant neoplasms in Czechia in the European context. It is believed that there are significant differences between countries of the European Union due to many factors (such as lifestyle, level of prevention, availability and quality of health care). The significant part of this study is devoted to the analysis of possible factors that may be related to the incidence of neoplasms and the mortality from neoplasms, which is also the second goal of the work. The results of the analysis show that the situation of mortality in Czechia is slightly worse compared to the European average. On the other hand, in Czechia, compared to other countries of the European Union, the absolute highest decrease of the mortality rate from malignant neoplasms occurred in observed period both for men and for women. Significant reductions in mortality have been documented in many selected groups of causes of death and most of individual age categories between 2009 and 2015, especially for...
Sex-specific analysis of mortality for malignant neoplasms in the Czech Republic in the years 1994-2013

Sex-specific analysis of mortality for malignant neoplasms in the Czech Republic in the years 1994-2013 Abstract The aim of this bachelor thesis is to analyze and describe the evolution of mortality due to malignant neoplasms in the Czech Republic from 1994 to 2013 and to study mortality of malignant neoplasms by sexes in detail in the chosen spatial and temporal distribution for the purpose of identifying possible factors which can have an influence on differences between men and women. This thesis deals with mortality from selected causes of death in the malignant neoplasms in addition to the analysis of mortality for the whole group of malignant tumours. There was used standardized mortality rate as the main indicator of mortality and the probability of death by age and decomposition of the difference in life expectancy at birth by cause of death and age between 1994 and 2013 were also used as a more detailed analysis of mortality. During the reported period standardized mortality rate decreased for the whole group of malignant neoplasms and for most particular causes of death for both sexes. It was also found that the differences between men and women are rather decreasing, but for some causes of death such as malignant neoplasm of colon, malignant neoplasm of bronchus and lungs, and malignant neoplasm...
