Motivation of students of the selected grammar school for truancy
Slámová, Magdaléna ; Machovcová, Kateřina (advisor) ; Richterová, Magdalena (referee)
My work focuses on students' motives for truancy, which Salavcová (2017) explains as the unexcused absence of a primary or secondary school student from class. Kyriacou (2004) considers this phenomenon as crucial due to the possibility of indicating the proper functioning of the educational system. At the core of the theoretical part are the causes of this pathological phenomenon, which Thambirajah a col. (2008) categorizes into several categories such as those on the side of the student, on the side of the family, on the side of the peers, on the side of the school and cases where the student is in a difficult life situation. Čapek (2014) sees the most common causes in fear of written tests, disinterest in school, bullying. I used this breakdown of causes in the subsequent practical part, which was conducted as qualitative research in the form of a semi-structured interview with seven students from a selected high school, an educational counsellor and a prevention methodologist. In the analysis of the interviews, I focused mainly on the probands' motivation for truancy and the factors that ended their truancy. The study resulted in an extended model of the causes of truancy that almost matched the most common factors mentioned by Čapek (2014), except for the factor of bullying. In my case, these were...
Manipulation techniques in multi-level marketing
Staňková, Tereza ; Kollerová, Lenka (advisor) ; Machovcová, Kateřina (referee)
The thesis focuses on psychological manipulation used in recruitment in multi-level marketing companies. Despite the fact that multi-level marketing companies often use unethical practices and pose (not only) a financial risk, the number of their members has been growing steadily in the Czech Republic. They are particularly dangerous to vulnerable groups, including mothers on parental leave, the unemployed and students. However, the topic has not yet been sufficiently researched and thus lacks the theoretical foundation for developing a strategy to prevent the harmful effects of multi-level marketing. The aim of the thesis is to describe the recruitment process of multi-level marketing companies that operate in the Czech Republic, as well as the manipulation techniques they use. In order to meet the aim of the thesis, the participant observation method was used to observe the recruitment process of three selected multi-level marketing companies - Amway, Herbalife and Nu Skin. In addition to the observation, documents provided by the companies were collected. The results presented in this thesis can serve as a basis for educational practice to raise awareness of the issue of psychological manipulation in multi-level marketing companies and to design prevention strategies. The thesis is structured...

Data were collected in the form of individual semi-structured interviews, with the structure of the interview based on focus groups on a related topic. Interviews were conducted with 11 respondents of various gender and sexual identifications. The data were subsequently analysed by reflexive thematic analysis. The results of the research are presented in a thematic map depicting 9 themes and 9 sub-themes, including: School doesn't let LGBTQ+ people know sufficiently that they belong there; the impossibility of sharing, the impossibility of not knowing; even small comments have a big...
