spontaneous development of populations and the influence of human interventions. For situations where a certain part of the fish population needs to be caught, within the project 'Biomanipulation as a tool for improving the water quality of reservoirs', we tested the available approaches in terms of their effectiveness and difficulty. The target species of catches were mainly cyprinid fish (bream, bleak, roach, rudd, white bream), which feed mainly\non zooplankton and tend to form very large populations. Among the most effective methods of catch during spawning are catches using electrofishing boats and fyke nets. In the non-spawning period, it is possible to carry out mass catches using trawl nets. Catches are effective both before spawning (in April) and during the summer. However, with repeated catches in the same places, their effectiveness decreases as a result of the fish being spooked. The efficiency of the catches partially improves again if the catches are repeated with a break of approximately 1–2 weeks. Catches also vary according to the stocking density of a given water body. With effective catches, the cost of catching 1 kg of fish is in the range of CZK 15–50.
Complex survey of the fish stock of Karhov, Obecnice and Pilská Reservoirs in 2021.
Muška, Milan ; Blabolil, Petr ; Kočvara, Luboš ; Soukalová, Kateřina
The report describes the results of an complex survey of Karhov, Obecnice and Pilská Reservoirs fish assemblages and recommendations for their further management.
Final report from the mapping of the weatherfish (Misgurnus fossilis) in the NPP Žehuňský rybník and its surroundings.
Muška, Milan ; Blabolil, Petr ; Draštík, Vladislav ; Kolařík, Tomáš
The report evaluates the results of a survey focused on weatherfish in the NPP Žehuňský rybník and the surrounding area. During the survey, a large population of weatherfish was found in the tributary part of the pond and the adjacent pool. This finding is essential for future revitalization planning and also significantly expands current knowledge of species distribution. Based on the results of the survey, the local population is one of the most important in the Central Bohemian Region.
Results of extended research of the ichthyofauna of lakes Laka and Čertovo, including adjacent streams.
Blabolil, Petr ; Hlaváč, J. ; Hůda, J. ; Kolařík, Tomáš ; Kortan, D. ; Muška, Milan ; Peterka, Jiří ; Vrba, Jaroslav
The report describes the results of an ichthyofauna survey in two areas of the Šumava National Park, where catches were made by an electric generator in the spring of 2021. This is the first direct evidence of natural reproduction of brown trout in the parts previously heavily affected by acidification.
Results of the autumn extended research of the ichthyofauna of the lakes Laka and Čertovo, including the adjacent streams.
Blabolil, Petr ; Bartoň, Daniel ; Draštík, Vladislav ; Jůza, Tomáš ; Hladík, Milan ; Holubová, Michaela ; Hůda, J. ; Kočvara, Luboš ; Muška, Milan ; Peterka, Jiří ; Vrba, Jaroslav
The report describes the results of a unique survey of the ichthyofauna in two areas of the Šumava National Park, where catches were made by an electric generator in the autumn of 2021.
Hydroacoustic assessment of the fish stock in Lake Balaton in 2019.
Tušer, Michal ; Muška, Milan
The presented report summurizes results of hydroacoustic surveys in Lake Balaton, including both littoral and open-water regions in all three basins of the lake. The report is describing the spatial distribution and size-composition of the fish stock in Lake Balaton in autumn 2019. The results are presented in terms of fish density, biomass and fish size distribution for particular hydroacoustic transects and lake basins. In the report are summarized all available data from previous hydroacoustic surveys and the development of fish stock is discussed.
Results of malaco-ichthyological survey of the Vltava River between 287,625-288,24 river km.
Muška, Milan ; Peterka, Jiří
The aim of the surveys was to determine the species composition and abundance of large bivalves and fish in the 287,625-288,242 river km section of Vltava River affected by planned alluvial mining and subsequent evaluation of this impact on protective conditions of specially protected species in accordance with Decree No. 395/1992, on Nature and Landscape Protection.
