The Town Tábor in the era of the "Prague's spring" and in the beginning of normalisation (1968-1970)
Rozkydalová, Pavla ; Mücke, Pavel (advisor) ; Hlaváček, Jiří (referee)
The paper primarily aims to depict the cultural life in the district city of Tábor against a background of the 1968 - 1970 historical events. The author describes, against the historical background, the individual cultural events and the life of the city, as well as the influence of political events which had the result that the city, and indeed the entire country, returned to the era preceding the "golden sixties". Employing the method of oral history, the author has interviewed narrators who had a proactive relationship to the cultural events in the city. Their testimonies were used as a basis for selecting topics which illustrate the cultural movement in the late 1960s as a period of liberalisation ending with normalisation which suppressed the cultural development of the city; the author especially invokes those events which were irreconcilable with the subsequent political developments in the country. The paper also refers to other resources which outline the atmosphere of the era, namely resources provided by the political authorities of the city and the Tábor City Chronicle. Using the testimonies provided by the narrators and the archival resources, the author has endeavoured to paint the most accurate picture of the atmosphere surrounding the events happening in the city in the said period....

Transformations in the behavior of football funs in the 1st and 2nd Czech leagues (Concentrating on developments from 2006)
Baran, Ondřej ; Mücke, Pavel (advisor) ; Diestler, Radek (referee)
Sport is one of the most important leisure activities in today's Euro-American civilisation. We are not talking here only of active engagement in sport, but also of sport as a source of mass-entertainment for millions of people. In this thesis I focus above all on the conduct of spectators in football stadiums in the Czech Republic. I will approach this theme by way of oral history, where the narrators providing me with interviews regularly go to matches in the First and Second Divisions of the Czech Football League. I concentrate here above all on the motivation and attitudes of the various groups of spectators to the events in the football stadiums, and I pick out three groups in particular: normal fans, ultras and hooligans. I endeavour to delineate the main differences between these groups which, in my view, are rooted not only in their varying motivation, but also in their modes of communication, as well as in their social composition and their age-structure. At the same time, however, I also attempt to highlight the specific environment of football terraces in which, though all the spectators may conduct themselves as individuals, they at one and the same time become, in a certain way, part of a mass of spectators, and they may therefore be in certain circumstances overcome by the situation...

Children and the War: the Year 1945 in the Memories of the Contemporaries from Beroun and Pilsen Regions
Slomková, Veronika ; Mücke, Pavel (advisor) ; Franc, Martin (referee)
The thesis called Children and the War: the Year 1945 in the Memories of the Contemporaries from Beroun and Pilsen Regions is focused on a crucial period of the Czechoslovakian history. It observes everyday life of "common people" during the Protectorate and it places emphasis mainly on the final stage of the war (e.g. Czech territory bombing by Ally air forces or Soviet and American soldiers coming). Currently recorded memories of the contemporaries are analysed and set into the wider historical context. Six respondents from Beroun and Pilsen regions spent the Protectorate years and the end of the war during their childhood, which was continuously disrupted by the Protectorate condition reality. These children had to act as adult people in especially tense situations (during air raid warning etc). In spite of the fact that their memories are related to the period of time seventy years ago, they are an important contribution to the never ending completing of a historiographical image of that time. We must take into consideration the fact that these memories were influenced by various factors such as propaganda, film or literature of course. An oral history fulfils its irreplaceable function in this situation: we are getting closer to the time, when it is not possible to record the personal memories...
