Solar Radiation Measurements
Mazoch, Jan ; Málek, Petr (referee) ; Beneš, Petr (advisor)
This Bachelor's thesis discusses design and verification of an inexpensive method for indicative measurement of direct and diffused solar radiation, in order to estimate the heat gain of buildings. Theoretical part focuses on the analysis of solar energy and types of measuring devices. Practical part presents results of patent research and market research. The design of an ideal solution of a measurement circuit is also presented here. The last chapter concentrates on the practical verification of selected inexpensive sensors. It includes the design of a suitable datalogger and measurement circuit, plus the comparison of measured data with reference sensor. The conclusion is devoted to describing possible solution for the sensor which should be applicable in operating conditions.
Flow Measurement - oriffice plates
Krátká, Lucie ; Málek, Petr (referee) ; Šedivá, Soňa (advisor)
The aim of the Bachelor thesis is to approximate the fluid flow measurement using differential pressure transducers inserted into fully filled circular cross-section conduits running full in the industrial sector. The introduction of the Bachelor thesis describes and explains the principle of fluid flow measurement using differential pressure transducers and the basic types of primary flow elements. Practical part consists of the design of practical calculations of individual parameters of standardized orifice plates, the design of a program for calculation of these parameters, comparing the achieved results with the output from the program Conval, evaluating these results and analyzing the measurement uncertainties for the parameters that affect the design of the standard orifice plate.

Multimaster communication over long distances
Hedvíček, Michal ; Málek, Petr (referee) ; Uher, Miroslav (advisor)
This bachelor project deals with a theoretical analysis of employed serial buses and a comparison of their qualities especially with regards to a medium-range distance. Also, it considers the possibility to extend I2C-bus by special circuits, which guarantee communication for longer distance. Next deals with measuring draft program for the collection and evaluation of measurement data. Following measurement itself and evaluation parameters of signal on the bus under different conditions.
Ladislav Klíma. His Reception in Czech Culture
Klíma, Matěj ; Vojtěch, Daniel (advisor) ; Kosák, Michal (referee) ; Málek, Petr (referee)
The thesis deals with the reception of Ladislav Klíma's work and personality in Czech culture. It is divided into four sections. In the first one we focus on the reactions to his work during his lifetime. In addition to the reflection on the plays and published books, we also follow small magazine polemics and partially explain the biographical background of published books. In the second section we examine the changes in the perception of Klíma after his death in 1928 until 1948. We present reviews of posthumously published books, obituaries and key interpretations of Klíma's thought. We examine the relations of avant-garde artists to Klíma and the personalities who significantly influenced the fate of his work. The third part presents reflections on Klíma's work after the communist coup in 1948 until the revolution in 1989. We look at the efforts to eradicate the author's name from cultural consciousness, marxist interpretations of his thought, the prominent authors of Czech literature who were influenced by him, interpretations from the 1960s, and the reception of his work in the alternative culture in the 1970s and 1980s. In the final section, we examine the situation of Klíma's reception after 1989, disputes over the approach to publishing Klíma's texts, selected interpretations and...
Critical reflection of the feminist and gender-oriented approaches to literature
Malcová, Markéta ; Málek, Petr (advisor) ; Heczková, Libuše (referee)
The purpose of this master's thesis is a critical reflection of those strands of Literary Theory which were inspired by Feminism and Gender Studies (Feminist Criticism, Gender Criticism, Gay/Lesbian Studies, Postfeminism, or possibly other theoretically closely related strands such as Etnic and Postcolonial Studies). The work aims not only to summarize the philosophical and theoretical bases that these movements share but also to critically think about their ideological and methodological shortcomings and limits, as well as gaps and stereotypes, primarily from the point of view of Literary Theory. The main focus of this work will be on the Anglophone world not only because it can be considered the source of most of these theories but also because it is there that these movements have reached a stage at which it is necessary to evaluate and re-evaluate their basic presumptions and key questions: which philosophies and cultural influences stand behind these movements, what is their relationship to marxism and neomarxism, how and why they became as popular as they are today and how do they influence the thinking about literature on Western European and American universities itself, be it as an academic discipline on the one hand or as political activism on the other. Secondarily this work also...
Surrealist "game" and its use in the work of Richard Weiner Hra doopravdy
Vitouš, Ladislav ; Heczková, Libuše (advisor) ; Málek, Petr (referee)
The presented thesis seeks to clarify Weiner's concept of the game as a specific experience of the world. The concept of the game is correlated to several related concepts, primarily to the artistic conception of the Le Grand Jeu and wider philosophical context, especially the Surrealist project. The aim of the work is not to assign Weiner's works to existing literary creations, orientations and tendencies (even its fragmented parts), but rather to define its uniqueness in contrast to them. It is not limited to one plane in the text, but takes into account all the poetic devices to reveal the author's concept of the game and the world in general. The subject of investigation is the author's last work Hra doopravdy. Keywords Richard Weiner Hra doopravdy Le Grand Jeu surrealism surrealist game
Improving Investment Timing
Málek, Petr ; Novák, Jiří (advisor) ; Cingl, Lubomír (referee)
This masters thesis is based on study of technical analysis of financial markets, i.e. analysis of dependencies between past and present price data, especially when it comes to "supports" and "resistances" or historical price levels where price recently tended to stop and reverse. First of all, summary of the most relevant literature on technical analysis is presented, together with literature on psychology of investing, behavioral finance and market efficiency. Following that, theoretical arguments in favor of possible edge in trading of technical levels are introduced and possible objections are addressed. This theory - in the form of several thousands of unique but similar trading strategies - is then tested on historical data of the most important financial assets. Results are compared to those of conservative buy-and-hold strategy and random trading. We reached the conclusion that trading based on technical price levels brings positive capital gains which are better than those achieved by random trading and buy-and-hold strategy. Parameters of our strategies influence the results in expectable manner more often than not.
