Design of settlement structure of contemporary city in historical context.
Suchanek, Tomáš ; Obrtlík,, Jan (referee) ; Májek, Jan (advisor)
The topic of this master‘s thesis was to create a settlement structure on the territory of the cadastral territory of the town of Náměšť nad Oslavou. Specifically in the southwestern part of the town, in the places of today's agricultural areas. The main goal of the thesis is to create a quality residential structure for the entire area, which will connect to the surrounding development, to create a center with urban amenities for this newly designed neighborhood. A key aspect of the design is the transport connection to the existing road network of the city and overcoming the barrier formed by the railway line. The proposed development responds to the current and future anticipated needs of the city. Taking into account the size, the proposed area is divided into three parts with regard to the time sequence and the nature of the development. From an urban point of view, the first phase builds on the existing network of streets and creates a transition between the original and the proposed development and proposes transport connections to the area. In the second and third phase, the remaining area of the proposed area is resolved, by a system of regular streets designed in places with a small slope of the terrain, connected by short streets with a higher slope. The master‘s thesis addresses the connection between the city and greenery, increases the attractiveness of the area by designing public facilities and services and works with visual axes from the existing housing and commercial development to the proposed location.

Kukuts, Olga ; Cahel, Tomáš (referee) ; Májek, Jan (advisor) ; Bantová, Sylva (advisor)
The bachelor thesis is based on the studio project created in the winter semester of the 2nd year of bachelor study. The topic of the studio was to create a study of a new kindergarten. The aim of the project was to create the most illuminated and safe space for children. The chosen territory is located in Brno and is defined by the northern slope and the spiers of Spilberk along the Údolní street in the context with adjoining Obilní market. The school is designed for two groups of children aged 3-6 with 25 children in each group and for 5 workers. The entrance is from the paved area adjacent to the parking lot and the sidewalk from the north side. The school is accessible from two sides; there are entrances for parents and employees. The building is made of cubic shapes and is designed in the form of U with a short cut, which is influenced by the world's sides in an attempt to brighten up as many social spaces as possible. The facade of the building consists of a simple plaster and a slat wall made of sliding and swinging slats on the windows. The facade is made in a simple style. It is a light beige plaster that is used in lower and higher reliefs. The main color element is the proposed various-color outdoor sliding aluminum lamellas. The object is moved away from urban communication and it is assumed that the free space between the school and the communications in the future will be stopped by living and administrative objects such as extending the paved space from the south.

Design of a contemporary city district in the environment of the historic city.
Landa, Karel ; Obrtlík,, Jan (referee) ; Májek, Jan (advisor)
The assignment of the diploma thesis was set to design new structure inside of historic city, which in the past went through major changes due to construction of main road leading through and dividing it to the 2 parts by creating a psychological barrier. This road was built mainly because of the construction of nuclear plant Dukovany to transit its part and component via this road. Simultaneously the thesis assignment was to design new bus station to replace existing one which is oversized from its completion and to incorporate this bus station to the life of the city. In my proposal I was creating the city structure by using principles set by historic structure of the city adapted to modern normative requirements while finding new genius loci of the area, which is in my proposal created by uncovering the Stařečka stream, which was hidden by construction of bus station. Next goal of the proposal was to improve possibility to walk faster through city by creating shortcuts and paths for the main and most important users of the city which are the people.

Průšková, Kristýna ; Obrtlík,, Jan (referee) ; Májek, Jan (advisor)
The assignment for this thesis was to prepare an architectural plan for barracks in Černé Pole in Brno. As part of the assignment, I attempted to rejuvenate and open up the given territory to the town and to its people and to connect it to the surrounding structures. I expanded the territory in question with adjacent panel construction from the north, as one of the objectives was to gradually incorporate this development in a way so that it does not create a barrier. The second objective was to revive two historical barracks buildings and a panel building dormitory, which serve as a reference for the image of the place. The thesis is split into two parts - analysis and proposal. In the proposal I discuss specific materials, transportation and public spaces. Most of the territory is made up of residential spaces with civil and commercial spaces, which together make the entire area functional. In my proposal I try to show how the entire territory can be solved, with the involvement of the historic and panel buildings, and not just building on an empty brownfield.

Hlinky Town House in the Old Brno district
Pill, Tomáš ; Bělovský, Michal (referee) ; Májek, Jan (advisor) ; Hradil, Dušan (advisor)
The topic of this bachelor thesis is the design of a town house in a gap on street Hlinky. The site is located in Staré Brno. The site has an important location - the foot of the Yellow Hill, near Brněnské výstaviště. The site is a narrow rectangle with a shorter side facing the street. It is accessible from only one side. Current usage is for three automobile garages, but is mostly unused. Retaining wall crossing site, stops the slope from the north side. The designed object responds to its location with a mass and spatial solution. It tries to fill in broken street line, connects the two adjacent buildings. In terms of height, the building creates a slight local height dominant, but suppresses its height by gradual pushing in of the top floors and their material differentiation. This also reflects the usage layout of the floors. The building uses the whole site. Functionally, the building is designed as a mixed-use house with a predominant administrative function, and the secondary component is permanent housing, namely two apartments. The building thus respects the existing master plan. One of the design's priorities was natural lighting. The site allows sun tho pass to the building only from the southern and northern side. This fact was key to the mass and layout design. The layout consists of a closed narrow strip where stairs, elevator and sanitary facilities are located and an open space with a glass façade on both sides. All rooms which require daylight the most and do not prevent light from reaching central part of layout are located on the southern façade.

Brno brownfields by the Svitava river
Muzikář, Vladimír ; Ležatka,, Lukáš (referee) ; Májek, Jan (advisor)
This diploma thesis deals with urban studies on the territory of Svitavy river in Brno-Husovice. Part of the solved territory is defined as a brownfield - specifically, it is a former Zetor site. New backbone roads are proposed in the defined area, new residential complexes that integrate the area into the surrounding area. In the north of the proposed area, I propose the Park & Ride Park House at the large city ring road in Brno. The proposal also includes the creation of recreational areas - near the embankment, a city park is set up near the Provazníkova road. An interesting feature is the creation of a public space shielded from traffic.
