The influence of changes of land cover on connectivity of fluvial processes in catchment

The connectivity of fluvial processes or hydrological connectivity are terms often used to describe internal linkages in landscape that intensify/reduce water and sediment fluxes as well as the substances they contain. It is based on the concept of landscape connectivity defined, in particular, by fragmentation of landscape and barriers that obstruct the movement of material. While researches focusing on water erosion or runoff focus on the volume of different fluxes, connectivity reveals new information on catchment functioning as well as reactions to various types of stimuli, and thus represents a more complex phenomenon. This master thesis informs about the topic as a whole, it describes the main forms of its modelling and specific influences that have major impact on presented results. Three approaches of modelling were tested. The main concept lies in evaluation of the index of connectivity, firstly, with approach proposed by Borselli et al. (2008) and implemented in software ArcGIS and secondly, in software SedInConnect 2.0. The third approach is modelling connectivity in software LAPSUS 5.0 that belongs to landscape evolution models. Modeling of mass transport causal conditions

The evidence of a flood wave passing through a catchment remains visible even for a long time after it occurs. The morphological update in the channel and floodplains, together with the processes related to the mass transport within the aquatic environment, can be regarded as flood event evidence. The advancement in hydroinformatics brought the development of numerical modeling as a tool for the solution of broad hydrological tasks. Thanks to the scenario modeling, flood events with interconnected processes can be explored in detail. This thesis is broadly focused on the mass transport initialization issue both in the polluted and clear middle-European water environments. The aim of the thesis is the evaluation of the principal issues connected with the mass transport initialization based on complex and integrated numerical modeling. The thesis brings original datasets resulting from several case studies. The aim of the thesis is also to bring a comparative study of methodological approaches evaluating the possibilities and limits regarding the accuracy of inputs vs. outputs and computational time requirements. Analysis and dynamics of the fluvila system of the Roklanský and Javoří brook

This thesis is focused on fluvial dynamics in gravel bed mountain stream. As model basin was chosen Roklanský brook catchment in Šumava mountains, some methods was used on a part of its tributary Javoří brook. We wanted to make an analysis of Roklanský brook catchment by characteristics and course of channel, river floodplain and fluvial erosion and accumulation forms, to find context and factors natural and anthropogenic influenced character and dynamics of the fluvial system. There were used methods based on field mapping channels and fluvial forms, grain size distribution, lidar data, historical aerial photos by 1949 to 2015, bankfull discharge and study old maps and other historical documents from archives. The results show that fluvial system of Roklanský brook has high rate of dynamics. We get known that placement of accumulation and erosion forms relates with longitudinal slope of channel and geological forms. The train of channel changes often, in past according to anthropogenic intervention. In floodplain of Javoří brook is a lot of potential channels. We get known height of water level which causes significant channel changes.
