Analysis of the Frequency of Connections in Czech Rail Transport

Analysis of the frequency of connections in Czech railway transport Abstract This paper deals with cartographic representation of frequency of connections in maps and with analysis in suitable level using software ArcGIS 9.3. Theoretical part is aimed at train categories and use of GIS mainly in analysis of traffic accessibility. Next there is a description of used methods which are isoline and cartodiagram. The main part of the paper discribes a creation of relevant data layers and methodology of data capture. Here is also evaluation of the results and suitability of used methods. The frequency of connections is devided into two types. Their differences are discussed in final section where is also warning about several complications that occurred during the work. Evaluation of suburbanization in Prague's hinterland - influence on landuse, landscape stability and structure Abstract The aim of this study is to evaluate the background of suburbanization in Prague, to evaluate the development of landscape, landscape structure and landuse. The first part of this work is devoted to analysis of domestic and foreign literature, which deals with suburbanization and evaluation of landscape structure. Another part is devoted to practical evaluation of the landscape using air photos and satelite pictures and orthophotos in three cadastral in 1994, 2004 and 2007. It concerns the cadastral Šeberov, Hole u Průhonic and Újezd. The evaluations are based on selected factors. It is found that the proportion of buildings and vegetations is increasing all the time and also found that for example scrub and forests were protected from new development. Furthermore, the most significant changes in land use were described and the landscape structure was evaluated according to selected factors. The outputs of this work were maps of land use in different years, maps of stable und unstable areas in different periods, maps of vegetation changes and tables summarizing the results of the evaluation parameters of the structure. Evaluation of global changes in forest area based on remote sensing data Abstract: The aim of this project is using remote sensing data to assess change in global forest area. This work should give the outline of the principles of land cover classification, with a focus on forests based on satellite images, but also show a real solution in the evaluation of changes in forest areas in two selected regions. The first part is performed a literature review of all aspects of this sub-topic from the basic principles of remote sensing across the typology and characteristics of satellite sensors, which are giving the satellite images to land cover classification systems and characteristics of forest area. The next section describes the basic procedure for classification of satellite imagery and its possible variants. In my work there are explain the image corrections, the supervised and unsupervised classification, the method of checking the accuracy of classification or use of software. Selected area for my work was Riau in Indonesia and state of Oregon, USA. To these regions there are demonstrated practical procedure for classifying land cover and then its changes from the forest areas. Social metabolism in Czech and Czechoslovak territory in historical perspective

This dissertation is based on the conceptual framework of social metabolism and it applies methods of Material and Energy Flow Analysis and Ecological Footprint. It studies interactions between human activities and natural environment in Czech/Czechoslovak territory from the historical perspective (after the division of Czechoslovakia for Czechia and Slovakia together). The term of social metabolism is a metaphor inspired by biology. Society or human economy similarly to a living organism which extracts materials from the earth, processes biophysical materials to maintain itself and emits its wastes back. So the economic system functions in an analogy to a living organism and those processes are called "social" or "industrial" metabolism. This dissertation comprises seven individual empirical studies: (I) An introduction to a research topic covered in following articles. It is based on the work of leading world environmental historian and it interprets selected Czech realities within the context of the world environmental history. (II) The historical series of MEFA indicators together with ecological footprint. Land cover changes in District Nachod using remote sensing data

Land cover changes in District Nachod using remote sensing data Abstract The purpose of this project was to create a classification of the land cover of Náchod district for years 1979, 1991 and 2001 based on multi-spectral images gained from publicly available archive images database provided by Landsat satellites. Data used in this paper are described in details. The created classification system is based on CORINE Land Cover and adjusted to a measured area and data available. The method used for images classification was method of supervised classification in PCI Geomatics program and classification algorithm of Maximum Likelihood Classification. The result was smoothed by majority filter and converted to the vector form. Accuracy of the classification was evaluated in details, based on the check points. Overall accuracy was quite low (2001 - 82 %, 1991 - 74 %, 1979 - 67 %), depending on the quality (mainly spectral and spatial resolution) of the images and also availability of other reference data. Land cover changes for the whole time period were therefore evaluated using just the balance method (i.e. overall classes distributions in district were compared between separate years). Evaluation of suburbanization in Prague's hinterland - influence on landuse and on territory function The main goals of this thesis are to describe land use changes in three time periods in cadastral units Dobřejovice, Modletice and Jažlovice situated in Prague's hinterland, to evaluate their influence on the territory function and to create a database of commercial objects in this area. There is a theme introduction in the first part. Furthermore, the thesis describes methods used for the data processing. The main part of the thesis is focused on the characteristic of the area of interest and describes the detected land use and territory function changes based on spatial overlays of time series of very high- resolution image data. The outputs of this work are maps of land use in 1994, 2004 a 2007, maps of land use changes in the particular time periods and the database of the commercial objects with their utilization purpose.
Monitoring of water eutrofization in model reservoir of Czech republic by remote sensing data

Present study compares possibilities of monitoring water eutrophication in the Czech republic using remote sensing. The theoretical part describes basic spectral characteristics of water and their change caused by eutrophication. Chlorophyll-a was chosen as the quantitative indicator of trophic rate. Methods of obtaining value of chlorophyll-a content from scanner TM and ETM+ Landsat satellite data and from in situ measurements data are described. Three regression equations, that employ variety of channels or channel ratios of Landsat data were utilized. The regression equations were applied on three satellite images of model area of Vltava's steps (water reservoirs of Lipno, Hnevkovice, Korensko and Orlík) from the years 2001, 2004 and 2007. The regression equation ln(chl-a) = a.TM2 + b.TM3 + c.TM4 +d gives the best results, where the determination coefficient varies from 0,245 to 0,422. Maps showing distribution of chlorophyll-a concentration in water reservoir Lipno and in the part of water reservoir Orlík were created based on obtained results. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)
Classification of line features from remote sensing data

This work deals with object-based classification of high resolution data. The aim of the thesis (paper, work) is to develope an acceptable classification process of linear features (roads and railways) from high-resolution satellite images. The first part shows different approaches of the linear feature classification and compares theoretic differences between an object-oriented and a pixel-based classification. Linear feature classification was created in the second part. The high-resolution QuickBird satellite images showing Prague surroudings were used for this classification. Using Definiens Developer software and the paper of Nobrega et al. (2006) the segmentation and object-based classification was created on the selected area of the satellite image. Minimum distance method of a pixel-based classification of the same part of image was generated to compare these two methods of classifications. Another classification was created in an another satellite image to verify developed classification process. The development of the subject orientation of land change science can be divided into two phases. (i) During the first phase (50's/60's of the 20th century) the description of landscape and its morphology (structure) were at the centre of research interest along with the research of the potential for agro-production. This particular type of study was motivated by the need to find a solution to the problem of the increasing inability to supply a growing (European) population with agricultural products. (ii) In the second phase (circa from 70's of the 20th century), the attention of scientists towards the accelerated rate of land change on a global scale that can be associated with: the increase of human population, changes in agricultural techniques, mining, environmental exploitation et cetera.
