The fortification and settlement of the Bohemian oppida: The contribution of modern non-destructive methods

The fortification and settlement of the Bohemian oppida. The contribution of modern non-destructive methods. Celtic oppida represent a special type of extensive hillfort that were founded and intensively settled in the late La Tène period. These distinctive sites in Bohemian archaeology were investigated mainly between the 1950s and 1980s by means of long-term, intensive archaeological excavations. The subsequent processing of additional information from these investigations still requires more time and intensive work by archaeologists. But in terms of the areas of the oppida, only a small fraction of the total (1- 3%) has been subjected to detailed excavation up to now. The remaining varied terrain of the oppida commonly extending up to several dozen hectares is without any archaeological verification or information. The application of modern, less expensive, non-destructive methods mainly during the last decade offers further opportunities for the systematic survey and research of larger unexcavated areas of Czech oppida. Enviromental and social aspects of the settlement structure in the prehistory (since the neolithic) and early middle ages

Krajina na severozápad od Prahy je krajinou s bohatou historií. Nejpádnějším důvodem, pro který byla tato pracovní oblast zvolena, nebyla jen předpokládaná nadprůměrná četnost archeologických lokalit, nýbrž i důvěrná znalost území. Členité území nepříliš velké rozlohy s bohatou nálezovou základnou se jeví takřka jako ideální pro zamýšlené zpracování vlivu přírodních a sociálních aspektů na strukturu osídlení. Oproti jiným podobným pracím si tato však klade za cíl dobrat se pokud možno nezkreslených výsledků, je tedy nutné pracovat s přesnými vstupními daty, precizně je zpracovat i věnovat velkou opatrnost při zacházení a výkladu výsledných informací. V práci této dochází ke spojení manuální práce s mapovými podklady, znalostí terénu a geografických informačních systémů. K uspokojivému zvládnutí problematiky je zapotřebí sledovat nejen data archeologická, ale i přírodovědecká. Není možné se při zpracovávání takovéto problematiky spokojit pouze s "plochými" daty zastupujícími jednotlivé lokality či komponenty v mapových či textových podkladech, aniž bychom se s nimi seznámili přímo v terénu. Každá komponenta je individuálním projevem přítomnosti našich předků v krajině a jako takovou ji musíme nakonec brát. Nicméně tento směr (při předem přesně definovaných otázkách) archeologických prací nabývá na intenzitě....

Prehistoric cultural strata as archaeological source

Některé zdánlivě chybějící a často skutečně nenalézané (neviděné), původně však nepochybně existující archeologizované součásti naší živé minulosti nám stále nedávají spát (z poslední doby např. řada příspěvků in: Neustupný ed. 2002). Jako dobrý příklad takového nedostatkového zboží - nemovitého archeologického nálezu, terénní situace, či, chcete-li, archeologického pramene, nám dobře poslouží často postrádaná tzv. kulturní vrstva, nebo kulturní souvrství pravěkého (raně středověkého) stáří. Jejich absence na většině našich pravěkých (raně středověkých) rovinných sídlišť byla již mnohokráte konstatována, stejně jako příčiny a procesy, vedoucí v minulosti často k úplnému odstranění tohoto druhu archeologického pramene (např. Neustupný 1981, 154; 1996, 506; Kuna 1994, 19-20, 31-32; 2002, 120; 2004a, 31 0-318; Vencl 2001, 608 atd.). Cílem této práce je především vyvrátit vžitou představu o tom, že kulturní vrstvy či souvrství na našich rovinných sídlištích téměř nenajdeme, zpochybnit podobně zažitý názor o jejich informační méněcennosti a na příkladu konkrétních situací ukázat, že jde naopak o zcela běžný, byť velmi podceňovaný typ archeologického pramene. Bez jeho výzkumu a patřičné analýzy však zůstávají informace získané pouze z výplní do podloží zahloubených částí objektů většinou pouhým z kontextu...

Prehistoric settlement of the northern part of west Bohemia

Prehistoric settlement ofthe northem part ofWest Bohemia This thesis describes and analyses prehistoric and early medieval settlement of the northem part of West Bohemia on the basis of archaeological sources. Selected sites together with history of excavation on them and some fmding situations are briefly described. Data processing from 300 archaeological sites were done using computer programs for Geographic Informational Systems and statistics, spatial relationship of archaeological sources to natural environment was the evaluated data. The analysis shows different intensity of archaeological evidence of settlement in the northem part - upward flux of the river Ohře region, and the southem part - the river Mže region, within themselves and also a strip of area virtually without any archaeologically significant data between them.

The position and methods of archaeology: the case of Roztoky

The paper discusses the relationship between history and archeology in the reconstruction of early history. The author highlights the potential risks of subordinating archeology to history. Using the case of the Roztoky archeological site as an example, he presents a set of questions that can only be answered using archeological methods, these methods are grounded not in the humanities, but in the natural sciences.

This bachelor’s thesis evaluates the most important factors influencing business effectiveness of Anglia-Trading.cz e-commerce web site. The first part contains a theoretical introduction to the topic of on-line selling and business effectiveness. In the second, practical part of this work, the theoretical findings are used to evaluate the effectiveness of the above mentioned on-line store. This evaluation is focused mainly on uncovering possible critical points and undiscovered opportunities. In the following chapter, several improvement suggestions and possible solutions of problems uncovered during the analysis are outlined. In the final part, main outcomes of application of these suggestions and solutions are described.

The first part deals with the issues of importance of the internet, marketing management and their correlation. Then, a definition of the most important terms and current trends in this field follows.
