Allelopathy of aquatic plants and its possible application to control cyanobacterial blooms
Kolářová, Anna ; Jandová, Kateřina (advisor) ; Kučerová, Andrea (referee)
The excessive growth of phytoplankton and the development of water bloom leading to the damage to aquatic ecosystems are becoming a more and more frequent problem. There are many methods to control the water bloom from which mainly those that use interactions of living organisms have been developing lately, with the utilisation of aquatic plant allelopathy being one of them. Allelopathy is a type of relationship between two organisms when one of them influences the other by secreting allelopathically active compounds in the environment. However, the effect of these secondary metabolites depends on many biotic and abiotic factors, which also has consequences for their potential use to control the water bloom. Although the results of many studies suggest that allelopathy can affect the community of phytoplankton, its role in aquatic ecosystems is still unclear. This thesis summarizes the knowledge about the occurrence of allelopathy among aquatic organisms, the modes of action of allelochemicals and the impacts of the key factors influencing the allelopathic effect. At the same time, it evaluates the prospects of using the allelopathy of aquatic plants to control water bloom and reviews experimental approaches to studying allelopathic interactions.
Iterative methods for Tichonov regularization with generalized regularization terms
Kučerová, Andrea ; Hnětynková, Iveta (advisor) ; Carson, Erin Claire (referee)
The aim of this thesis is to study hybrid methods for solving ill-posed linear inverse problems corrupted by white noise. These approaches are based on the combination of iterative Krylov subspace methods and the Tichonov regularization with a general regularization term. We explain the basic properties of ill-posed problems, the idea of regularization, the role of the regularization term to enforce desirable properties to the solution and the theoretical background of Standard and General Tichonov minimization. Then we explain shift invariance of Krylov subspaces. This allows us to describe a hybrid approach where the full size problem is first projected onto a Krylov subspace of a smaller dimension and then the Tichonov minimization is applied to the small projected problem. We focus on the regularization based on the finite difference approximation of derivatives of the solution. The well known regularization terms constructed from forward differences for the first and the second derivative are summarized, then we use the Taylor expansion to construct finite differences of higher orders of precision. We incorporate different variants of boundary conditions. Then the impact of the order of precision of the finite difference schemes on the quality of the solution is studied. In the experiments we use the...
Research report on the occurence and composition of autotrophic communities in Lakes Milada and Most.
Znachor, Petr ; Bešta, Tomáš ; Čapková, Kateřina ; Mareš, Jan ; Řeháková, Klára ; Čtvrtlíková, Martina ; Kučerová, Andrea
The limnological measurement and research of periphyton and aquatic macrophytes were conducted in the framework of 'Strategy AV 21, post-mining landscape restoration' in 2020. Despite the good ecological potential in Lakes Milada and Most, there are several indications of possible future deterioration of water quality (e.g., the occurrence of subsurface cyanobacterial maxima in Lake Most, excessive growth of periphyton mats in both lakes, strong bottom anoxia in Lake Milada).

Importance of Metformin in the Treatment of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus
Kučerová, Andrea ; Vlček, Jiří (advisor) ; Šmahelová, Alena (referee)
Importance of metformin in the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus Mgr. Andrea Kučerová, Department of Social and Clinical Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Faculty in Hradec Králové, doctorate thesis, 2010 Metformin is biquanid which, during its therapeutic use, has undergone a period of perdition and fall followed by again rising up to the imaginary pharmacological-therapeutic summit when it became a "gold standard" in the treatment of patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Currently, it is recommended by the professional authorities abroad and in the Czech Republic as a first choice drug after determination of diagnosis together with diet and physical exercise. How these recommendations follow and reflect the diabetological prescription situation? What prevents the physicians-prescriptors from implementation of the recommendations into their daily practice? The aim and subject of this thesis is the issue of therapy of type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM) by means of oral antidiabetics (PADs) with a special focus on the decision mechanisms of selected prescription groups of physicians. A historical development of metformin must be reminded in the theoretical part of this thesis in order to better understand and substantiate these prescription habits, and furthermore a development and changes of its position in...

The bachelor thesis Teacher's social skills and the possibilities of its development are concerned with the topic of social skills in relation to the teacher profession and with the methods by which these skills can be effectively developed. The aim of the thesis is to describe in particular what the definition of social skills is, how they are reflected in the profession of teacher and what the possibilities of their development are. The literary overview section therefore deals with defining the concept of social skills, their specifics in the teacher's profession, and the possible risks of a reduced level of social skills of the teacher. In the research proposal, the thesis deals with the comparison of selected methods of social skills development among secondary school teachers, grammar schools and the second level of elementary schools.
State regulation of prostitution in Egypt (1798-1952). Application of the French and British system of reglementation
Kučerová, Andrea ; Gombár, Eduard (advisor) ; Veselý, Rudolf (referee) ; Mendel, Miloš (referee)
The dissertation thesis examines the system of state regulated policing of prostitution based on police control and medical examination of prostitutes that originated in France at the turn of the 19th century and provided subsequently in the second half of the 19th century an inspiration for other European countries. Great Britain approached the French system of the so called reglementation of prostitution during the 1860s when the state regulation of prostitution was applied in several British garrison towns and ports. Afterwards in 1880s Great Britain applied the system of reglementation of prostitution also in occupied Egypt. The thesis traces the system of state regulation of prostitution from its birth in France, through its application in Great Britain and examines its progress to the final implementation in Egypt. It also portrays the atmosphere in the society that accompanied the application of reglementation in the above mentioned countries. The first chapter examines the birth of the state regulated prostitution in France and follows its progress through the 19th century till the time when reglementation started to be challenged by an intensified antiregulationist campaign. The second chapter deals with the application of the French system on the British soil that stirred up the growing feminist...
