Influence of romantic comedies on young adults'perception of relationships

The diploma thesis "Influence of romantic comedies on young adults' perception of relationships" focuses on the effect of the consumption of romantic comedies. The goal of the thesis is to whether a correlation exists between the consumption of romantic comedies and young adults' attitudes towards romantic relationships, including their opinions, ideas, expectations, and relationship behavior. The theoretical section introduces romantic comedies as a movie genre. It presents the history of the genre, key practices and approaches, and typical characteristics. The work further describes how audio-visual media can potentially influence the audience, presents major theoretic approaches to audience research, and summarizes current knowledge and results in the field of the influence of romantic comedies. The following practical section shows the process and results of the research, which was done using a mixed approach including mainly interviews with young adults. In contrast to previous research, this work emphasized a gender-equal research sample to describe the influence on men as well, even though they are not the primary target group. The development of representation of classical heroes in film and television production

For centuries classical myths have been an unfading source of inspiration for various fields of human production. Integral part of the myths are their heroes. This bachelor thesis aims to explore the development of the representation of classical heroes in film. Introduction to the theoretical part defines the terms myth and mythology. A brief study of the circumstances surrounding the origin of myths, their significance for classical society and the role of heroes in these myths follows. The end of the theoretical part is dedicated to the study of representation in film and other relevant concepts in the field of film and media theory. The methodology chapter sets out the procedures used to perform the empirical research. Three pairs of films with the same mythical theme have been selected for this research. The practical part contains performed analyses and comparisons of the examined films. At the end of the thesis are presented interpretations of analyses and research results and outlined the possible causes of the described development in the representation. The work fulfilled its goal and confirmed the established hypothesis of a certain correlation between the development of society and the representation of classical heroes in films.
The Analysis of Product Placement in Movie - James Bond

The aim of this diploma thesis, entitled "The Analysis of Product Placement in Movie: James Bond", is primarily a quantitative and qualitative content analysis of five films, specifically those featuring Daniel Craig as Agent 007. Due to his announcement of the end in this longest running and most successful film franchise in history, I decided to conduct a comprehensive analysis of product placement, as it is very important to this film and one of the most significant if you say product placement in filmmaking. So, this is specifically an analysis of Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace, Skyfall, Spectre and No Time to Die. The first part is devoted to product placement as such its definition, history, types, advantages and disadvantages or regulation. The second part contains information about the origin of James Bond, its creator Ian Fleming, the predecessors in the film franchise and the style of Agent 007. The third section is devoted to the individual films, and includes the names of the filmmakers and cast, the content of the film, and the curiosities and brands that appear in the film. The fourth section is a quantitative analysis that looks at the portrayal of product placement in the plot of the film and includes information on which brand or industry appears most often or the total minutes...

The aim of the submitted thesis "TV show Ulice (The Street) as the first Czech daily Soap opera is to analyze TV Nova's daily series Ulice. The first part of the thesis defines soap opera as a genre, it's history, development and definition. It defines characteristic elements of genre. Then the thesis concerns with TV show Ulice. It describes creation of the show, production, environment and characters of the show. Ulice is compared with British shows Coronation Street and EastEnders throughout the thesis.
Programme Diversity in Czech Televisions between 1998 and 2006

The present thesis entitled "Programme Diversity of Czech Nationwide Television Channels in the Years 1998 - 2006" focuses on the normative requirement of the society regarding the diversity of mass media, and the approach of mass media thereto: we distinguish between media diversity introduced in the market media model and the diversity presented as part of the public sphere media model. Furthermore, this thesis attempts to search for and determine the requirements regarding media diversity as laid down in the applicable legislation of the Czech Republic or the European Union. The research part of the thesis deals with one of the many levels of diversity in the mass media environment, particularly the diversity of television programme types, i.e. television genres accepted by the interest groups: academics, broadcasters or audiences etc. The present analysis includes nationwide TV stations providing analogue broadcasting via terrestrial transmitters in the years 1998 to 2006, focusing on majority audience - Czech TV1, Prima TV and TV Nova. Subject of this thesis is a phenomenon of a new digital world - internet memes. These are concept spreading from one user to another through new media. As a source of memes serves for this work the club New Internet Humours from discussion forum nyx, we introduce on a few selected examples the main differencies between memes and traditional approach to humour, perhaps even to communication in general.
Sport news on RTVS, TV Markíza and TA3, and their camparison

This thesis deals with characteristic and differences in sport broadcasting between chosen televisions. The aim of the work is to analyse sport broadcasting of these TV stations and compare the form by which they give information to the viewers, what they concentrate on and what they pay the biggest attention to. It defines basic terms in making television broadcasting and the author's work of a reporter. It characterizes each television, their birth, the quantity of sport offered to viewers, editorial staff and the list of regular magazine programmes. The work offers a look into the backstage of the televisions and opinions of two managing editors and one reporter on the sport broadcasting in Slovakia. They explain the work of sport reporter and operation of sport editorial department in television. The sport reporter, who worked in two of the compared televisions, offers a comparison of the work system in those televisions. Viewer's opinion is very important and they demonstrate how they look at the final product of the televisions. To the conclusions said in the chapters of this work I use mostly viewer's opinions and my own personal knowledge gained after long lasting watching of television sport broadcasting.
Content analysis of selected on-line television channels and their uses of entertaining content.

This master thesis deals with the internet - television media relations, more specifically how selected tv publishers use internet channels to communicate with users. It is based on several previous analysis, which argued that publishers apply old television logic on the internet as well, and therefore they do not use full potential of the new medium. Goal of this thesis was to test this argument, as well as to discover how Czech and foreign publishers use internet websites and social media, and how they approach internet audiences. In order to do so, content analysis was executed, analyzing publisher websites and social media of 20 selected television shows. Based on this analysis user approach of each show and publisher was categorized employing typology of Eugenie Siapera. Due to significant communication differences among shows this thesis also attempted to identify major factors, which shaped the communication.
The developmnet of TV Programme guides after the Year 1989 (1190 - 2009)

Diploma thesis "The Development of TV prograínme guides after the year 1989 ( 1990 _ 2005)" deals with the section of programme guides in the Czechrepublic in the context of the whole market of Program me magazines in the historical perspective of the years 1990 - 2005, It's goal is to offer a compact ovetview of the development of TV Programme guides in this Period. In doing so, it focuses on content and graphical changes, which the selected periodicals went through, and compares them with the current formats of the magazines. ln the context of focusing on the past changes, it also brings the comparison of the very limited market before the year 1989 and the gradually developing one in the nineties, and mainly in the new millenium, At the same time, it concentrates on foreign publishers, whose entering into the Czech market, was the key element for the development of the home trade,It also looks at newspapel supplements, electronical (internet) and digital (EPG) media, as their possible competitors, considering the future existence of the TV programme guides.
