Innovation Aspects of the Electronic Toll System in the Czech Republic
Šindelářová, Jana ; Basl, Josef (advisor) ; Krsek, Libor (referee)
This thesis deals with the innovation of information system (IS) as a decision problem. The main objective of this thesis is the construction and the application of a method to select an optimal innovation variant of IS in an organisation of any scale. The designed method is based on the conception of the innovation of IS in the methodology "Multidimensional Management and Development of Information System (MMDIS)". The proposed selection method (Method of Innovation Modules based on MMDIS - MIM) is intended to serve mainly for decision-making on a strategic level. The IS structure is mapped in accordance with the MMDIS methodology. Innovation aspects are derived from two approaches: innovation aspects based on the MMDIS principles ("module of principles" - e.g. integration, flexibility, standardisation, measurability) and innovation aspects based on the IS dimensions defined in MMDIS methodology ("module of dimensions" - e.g. software, hardware, processes and functions, finances). The proposal method enforces a systematic approach to evaluation of the innovation variants, ensuring that the innovation aspects (the principles and the dimensions) are aligned with key requirements. As an example, this method is applied to an existing electronic toll system operated in the Czech Republic. Basic innovation variants of the electronic toll system are described - the microwave, the satellite and the hybrid toll system. Case studies from the Czech Republic, Austria and Germany are used for support the proposed innovation variants, as well as evaluation of variants. The principles and the dimensions form a framework for description and evaluation of the telematics, of the electronic toll and of the innovation variants of the electronic toll. The variants are compared within the framework of refined principles and dimensions, the optimal variant is proposed. The used evaluation parameters are a result of an analysis of published studies and specific toll system technical designs. The Method of Innovation Modules was constructed on the basis of MMDIS methodology and demonstrated by application in an example scenario (electronic toll). The key result of the proposed method is the comprehensive structured map of available system innovation opportunities.
Visualization as one of the factors that sell the products and services
Baumrt, Tomáš ; Horný, Stanislav (advisor) ; Krsek, Libor (referee)
This diploma thesis deals with a subject of taking advantage of visualization during the process of product presentation. Its main aim is to find out, if visual presentation (design) of the product cover affects consumer's behaviour during the decision process of buying a particular product. If this influence is proven, a second goal is set up, namely detection of effects of chosen factors of visual presentation on consumer's decision process. Diploma thesis is divided into 6 chapters. The first introduces the topic to the reader and familiarize him with the goals and structure. Second chapter theoretically describes fundamental terms of communication, especially visual communication. The third chapter covers issues concerning the product itself and its advertisement. This chapter brings to the end theoretical part, which gathers information partly from professional literature and partly from authors' knowledge and experiences. Practical part forms the main element of the thesis. Fourth part consists of various methods for analyzing previously questioned problems in detail. Sample questionnaire examining consumer's preference is drawn up as well as graphical proposals of product design. Chapter ends up with a summary of results found out during the query survey. Results are interpreted in details in the fifth chapter, together with an attempt to draw general conclusion. Last chapter summarizes gathered information and evidence. Contribution of this work is not only to emphasize the significance of product cover and its effect on sale. Corporations or more precisely their marketing departments should realize this fact while creating marketing plan and especially advertisement plan. They should pay more attention on appearance of the product cover. Benefit further consists in processing the whole topic, with neither theoretical nor practical literature is concerned, although proven that opposite should count. Thesis tries to show the direction of further investigation, possibly followed by more complex and extensive surveys, which should bring valuable results and could be used not only by firms but also by consumers themselves.

Corporate identity and its application
Jeřábková, Kamila ; Krsek, Libor (advisor) ; Horný, Stanislav (referee)
The aim of my bachelor thesis is to create a logo for the Board Game Club of the University of Economics. The methods used to accomplish the goal include an investigating on how to create a successful and working logo and a study of factors which affects it such as the role of symbolism, typography and colors. The work does not just summarize facts about a corporate identity and logo, but is also valuable in creating something that is practical and usable. The first five chapters are theoretical and the last one is practical in which I am applying the gained knowledge on our Board Game Club.

Possibilities and usage of multimedia communication instruments in practice
Malý, Michal ; Krsek, Libor (advisor) ; Horný, Stanislav (referee)
The main purpose of my work is to describe and chart the possibilities and use of the means of multimedia communication as the title prompts. In the work there is shown their broad variability in use in many different areas. My work is divided into several chapters. At first the reader is introduced into the broad issue of multimedia including definitions and descriptions of individual elements. Then follows an overview of areas where the multimedia material is possible to apply such as in education, households, as well as in work and public places. There is also a sub-chapter about virtual reality. Next my work deals with the ways how the multimedia content is presented to people by which I mean with what technologies and equipment it is spread. An overview of today's trends, new technologies together with a prediction of future development is not missing. The closing part of my work is dedicated to a comparison between theory and practical situation in particular the use of multimedia in the chain stores Baumax.
Redesign of information systems in multimedia laboratory(GML) on VSE
Burda, Adam ; Horný, Stanislav (advisor) ; Krsek, Libor (referee)
This paper aims to describe and propose solutions to problems impairing the functionality of the Prague School of Economics' Graphics and Multimedia Laboratory (GML). The problems to be solved arise in the current information technology devices, more specifically in data back-up, usuitable hardware and lan connection as well as missing software. Finally, the paper discusses the idea of puchasing devices to be used outside the GML. The multimedia laboratory is concerned with issues relating to graphics creation and video adjustment. The solution put forward in this paper proposes using specific hardware designed for editing and graphics applications. While an effort is made to seek a multiple solution, the proposed adjustments require purchasing new hardware and software which are innovative if rather costly. Financially demanding as those are, both the optimal and the more budget-friendly options are introduced. Finally, an overview table summarises the costs, supplemented by detailed calculations. The solutions proposed are based on generally accepted procedures. These are modified in view of the author's experience of network administration and devising specific coputer systems.

Jeřábek, Michal ; Horný, Stanislav (advisor) ; Krsek, Libor (referee)
In contemporary times internet plays without doubts, a key role in our life. It is one of the most effective information channels of modern economy and a powerful tool of citizen society. Great number of new web pages is created daily and the competition is becoming stronger. This Diploma Thesis is dealing with the information architecture of web pages and applications an its significance for projects of Web2.0 In our territory, "information architecture" is relatively new term and therefore, the first part of the thesis endeavor to define it. It attempts to emphasize that the web page is not a pretty picture only but it must contain well-designed communication of the goals of the page creation. For attaining them, it is essential to define precisely the expectation at the very beginning. On the other hand, it is also necessary to have on mind the web users who opens the page for to fulfill their specific needs and with their own expectations. Web page therefore should meet both the goals of the designers and expectations of the users. Further part of the introductory chapter deals with the history of the information architecture having its roots in the sphere of the information design. Beside other topics, there is discussed the work of Ladislav Sutnar, who significantly contributed to the development of this topic. The following chapter deals with the process of the information architecture design proper. It is not a detailed instruction for web page creation, but rather a description of individual steps and factors able to influence substantially the web page presentation success. The last part is devoted to the recently frequently referred phenomenon of Web 2.0. There was attempted to describe its principles and answer the question whether it is only an empty word used as attractive label for promotion of certain projects or really a new direction in the web development. Then there is discussed the influence of Web 2.0 on the information architecture and whether this topic is for its design necessary at all.
