THE PRINCIPLES OF ALTERNATIVE THEATRE IN THE CONTEMPORARY PRAXIS OF PROFESSIONAL PUPPET THEATRES IN EUROPE OUTSIDE OF EU
Krstić, Marija ; MAKONJ, Karel (advisor) ; KROFTA, Josef (referee)
This thesis conserns the process of preparation of the performance ?The Jungle Book?, based on the original contemporary adaptation of the stories by Rudiard Kipling for childrens' puppet theatre. The curiosity of this process relies on specific conditions in the post-yugoslav Balkan countries, more precisely in Zagreb, Croatia, where the performance will be presented at the beginning of 2013. In order to realise the project at the institutional theatre, it was neccesary to apply for an international grant that supports cooperation projects with Balkan countries. The questions of tolerance of differencies and inclusion of the underrepresented social groups have become the key topics of the project. On the basis of personal experience with specific prejudices of the Balkan folks I've worked out the directing concept for the puppet theatre performance with the elements of contemporary circus. In the atractive manner it introduces the healthy social values to children 5 - 11 years old. This thesis presents the reaction to the situation in the contemporary puppetry in the Balkans, explains the process of creative decision making and reflects the struggle for the financial support for the project.

Převorovský, Zdeněk ; Chlada, Milan ; Krofta, Josef ; Farová, Zuzana
The report introduces the results of monitoring of crack initiation and growth during fatigue tests of the three airplane structure parts. The method of acoustic emission was used together with nonlinear elastic wave spectroscopy (NEWS) and nonlinear time reversal mirrors (NLTRM).
Nondestructive evaluation of concrete structure of the nuclear reactor cavity by nonlinear elastic wave spectroscopy (NEWS) : contract number-771318
Převorovský, Zdeněk ; Kudrna, P. ; Kober, Jan ; Krofta, Josef ; Chlada, Milan ; Chlada st., Milan
The structural health of two model samples of concrete shaft of nuclear reactor was non-destructively tested by three variations of nonlinear ultrasonic spectroscopy methods denoted as NWMS, SSM a TR-ESAM. The results of measuring procedures approved inherent nonlinearities of tested concrete compounds given by their inhomogeneity.
Localization and Identification of AE Sources by the Help of Time Reversal Mirrors
Převorovský, Zdeněk ; Krofta, Josef ; Chlada, Milan ; Farová, Zuzana
In this paper we suggest new concepts of more precise acoustic emission (AE) source localization and identification in komplex structures. The method is based on a Time Reversal (TR) AE signal processing. The new offline procedure, called TRAED (Time Reversal AE Deconvolution), is relativem simple and does not require any knowledge on the structure material and geometry.
Theatre Marketing
Sulženko, Jiří ; Dvořák, Jan (advisor) ; Mathé, Ivo (referee) ; Krofta, Josef (referee)
This thesis should not serve as a "how-to-do-it" marketing hadbook on theatre marketing. The aim of the thesis is to look behind the basic marketing tools towards the actual situation and development in techniques of marketing communication, in audience preferences trends and lifestyle changes. Thus it should help to better understand the changes that have occured in last years in the field of theatre marketing. It should also sum up the main marketing issues and issues of marketing communication.
Searching for the Principles of Inclusion of Self-Direction while Creating a Stage Role.
Glogarová, Štěpánka ; Svobodová-Hrabová, Jana (advisor) ; Krofta, Josef (referee)
The author's purpose is to name the acting processes. She reflects upon the goals that actors should have before they start to work and how they can discover new levels of acting while working on their stage role. The author deals with the complex possessions of an actor and tries to define the term self-direction. She is convinced that the process of searching is never ending and necessary component of the dramatic work. She reflects on how the dramatic work looks like when the actors allow themselves to be surprised by their own selves and everything that is tied to the work on their stage role. Actor's independence is very important for the author of this thesis. To further explain these issues, the author uses her own experiences as an example. Experiences, that she gained while working on a performance called Kočka v pytli with the Dutch dancer and performer Frank van de Ven. The author documents her experiences by putting d own detailed description of the key dramatic exercises that she took with Frank van de Ven.
Music as the servant, partner and boss of puppetry performance
Račková, Dana ; Krofta, Josef (advisor) ; Šrámek, Vratislav (advisor) ; Klíma, Miloslav (referee)
The work is a précis of general knowledge about the problem of stage music in the theatre and subsequent subjective view of the given problem with the accent on puppetry theatre. Authoress, on one side as a director on the other side as a theatre-goer, is trying, on the basis of acquired theoretical informations, to organize her own experience with using the stage music as a part of a sound component of the puppetry theatre. Work piece is the study of few musically interesting moments of the authoresses creative work history that is concerned especially in puppetry theatre and partly radio. Based on this chosen examples she is trying to deduce the rules that would be taken in consideration in her creative work as general. Subject of the work is not the sound component generally but stage music as its member. She examines its functions and roles during the creative process and result of the single staging too. She takes a think of concrete examples, when the stage music (so do whole sound component) is superior, secondary or equal to the other components (visual, actor´s...).
Structural Health Monitoring in aerospace and civil engineering supported with two ultrasonic NDT methods - AE and NEWS
Převorovský, Zdeněk ; Krofta, Josef ; Farová, Zuzana ; Chlada, Milan
Structural Health Monitoring (SHM) becomes today an important technology improving reliability and safety of aeronautical and civil structures. Combining of two ultrasonic NDT methods - Acoustic Emission (AE) with Nonlinear Elastic Wave Spectroscopy (NEWS) - in SHM systems brings many advantages. AE enables real-time detection and localization of initiation and progression under operational stimulations, and NEWS methods provide retrieval of structural faults and complete information on AE sources. Examples of a complex SHM system design for critical parts of both aircraft and building roofs are discussed in this paper. The NEWS pseudo-tomography procedure, based on Time Reversal Mirrors (TRM) with Excitation Symmetry Analysis Method (ESAM), enabled zone-location of initiating defects, not detectable by other classical NDT procedures. Our results reflect good robustness of both techniques, and support their helpfulness in SHM of aircraft and building structures.
Motion Techniques and Patterns - Creative Freedom of Expression
Riedlbauchová, Veronika ; Laštovková-Stodolová, Adéla (advisor) ; Krofta, Josef (referee)
Riedlbauchová, Veronika. Motion Techniques and Patterns - Creative Freedom of Expression. M. A. Thesis, Academy of Performing Arts in Prague, Theatre Faculty, Prague 2009, 111 pp. In her M. A. thesis, the author focuses on the education of an open and all-round actor and stage director by the means of movement. In doing so, she draws from her artistic practice as well as from her personal experience with physical acting she got acquainted with during two years of study at Institut del Teatre in Barcelona. She points out that the contemporary theatre still keeps omitting movement - one of the most important stage elements. Through a detailed reflection she presents various motion techniques and patterns, which may signifícantly enrich the actor´s or stage director´s expression capabilities subsequently leading them to creative freedom. The author emphasizes an empiric approach to the search for a stage expression and she presents a variety of concrete exercises. She also demonstrates some ways of applying the knowledge of particular techniques in modern practice. The paper is divided into two parts. The first part called Body Language focuses on general patterns of motion and its communicativeness in theatre. In the first chapter the author pursues motion as a specific element of stage work, in the second chapter as a component of the theatre language. She explores motion and its energy, the motional expression and its capability to reveal the personage´s emotions, motion in a mutual interaction with the space and time, motion in relation to the sound and word. In the third chapter she expresses a necessity of a lifetime development and training of an actor and stage director, which reinforces their creativity and makes them equal partners. In the second part called How to Apply a Mask Technique in a Contemporary Practice the author focuses in detail on the application of the knowledge of two concrete mask techniques in a broader theatre practice. The fourth chapter presents work with a neutral mask inspired by the method of Jacques Lecoq and its employment in the creation of a stage personage. The last, fifth chapter concerns the old technique of commedia dell´ arte and its application in teaching the improvisation. This chapter is innovatory as it presents practical instructions how to train the actor´s improvisatory abilities in the framework of the whole onstage composition.
