Revitalization Program of Floral Garden in Kromeriz
Bílý, Petr ; Koutný, Jan (referee) ; Kopáčik, Gabriel (advisor)
The floral garden is a UNESCO heritage. Every visitor comes here to see its formal part which it gets its status for. My point was not to make a composition or objects which would cut capers too much. I have placed the most of the required functions in the original entrance building. The function of both the tropical and cold greenhouse was preserved. A visitor entering the garden is given a choice of two paths where to go to the Floral garden. He may either use the original one which goes through the yard of honour to the boundary of the flower garden and garden nursery or he may go via the information room towards the dutch garden. Then it goes through the colonnade connected with the yard of honour by a clear gate-way between the entrance building and the tropical greenhouse. The colonnade heads towards a caffé and a visitor going here walks through two pavillions where there are some information pannels with detailed information about the garden development. This path ends in the caffé where there is an area for some exhibitions as well. The caffé is situated by the north-west wall of the allotment and it contains a library, a study and a separated bathroom as well. External walls of this object consist of repeating pillars (1,2 meter long) and free space (2 meters long) where there is always a table. There are sash glass pannels in the two layer pillars in summer. These gaps are closed in winter. There is a rabbit hill replica in the agricultural area of the garden and there are some children slides and playground and the greenhouse pair.
Roots of Moravian Urban Structure
Mohelník, Ladislav ; Löw, Jiří (referee) ; Prokeš, Oldřich (referee) ; Hrabec, Josef (referee) ; Koutný, Jan (advisor)
The thesis has been written on the basis of main architectural concepts and their application in real life within a historical context investigation. Main architectural concepts are represented in a harmony of architectural composition that deals with relations among form, structure and space in the unique art work. Genius loci play very important role in the architectural creation - it represents a special and extra-ordinary urban locality and its architectural value in the historical, geographical and cultural context. The origin of Ostravice village within the historical frame concept of Moravia domain is the topic of this thesis. Other historical documents gave information about Bruneswerde as the Brno Castle. That means Brno Castle had to be founded not in Brno (as it has been consid-ered for many years) but it was located in Beskydy at Ostravice. The sacred city – Civitas Dei had been located in Bruneswerde region in early ages as the centre of European culture, education and spiritual life. Civitas Dei – divine Jerusalem in the transcription of St. Augustine's book De civitate Dei – is not only glorification of God and religious fantasy. It is also one of significant clues for recognition of historical architecture. The depiction of unknown settlement from the book of unde-fined origin is a superb testimony about extinct architectural works. They are legible from cadastral maps. Brno Castle - residence of nobility and power served shelter to St. Vojtěch, St. Prokop, St. Václav and St. Ludmila as it is obvious for the mentioned picture. Three major temples, three com-position axes symbolized by three towers on coins are in analogical relation to Brno triangle of four saints - the Saint family of Brno temples. Powerful ambitions of Brno City principals and clergy are inscribed into the urban structure in the way of composition relations which are legible to them who devoted themselves to the mystery of harmony. The absence of historical continuity affects personal attitudes and also identity of the whole community. The architecture truly reflects the past state of polis and it is eloquent even after its death. The architectural composition relations influence the natural environment for long time, longer than the architectural work existence. The geometric order of Renaissance Brno existence has not been in attention of architects so far. The features were discovered in characteristic paintings by Albrecht Durer. They are evidently secret works of the genius. A meaningful collaborator and follower in the extensive project was also his friend Jan Čert from Brno and lately from Vienna. His noble genealogy played a significant role in history of Silesia and Moravia for centuries. It is tendency to consider him as Austrian or even German architect. It is because of the fact that the genealogy tree of his noble family had roots in Moravia. It is supposed that Durer with Jan Čert´s support created the extraordinarily monumental architectural and urban works in Brno. A remarkable consensus in the urban composition of two squares and transition of traditional urban structure of Ostravice Civitas Dei into the modern Brno is also confirmed due to the identification of noble creators and owners, who were at the foundation, transformation and extinction of elements of the Moravian urban structure.

The theme of this dissertation is “Management of the regeneration of post-industrial areas”. The aim of the work is to identify support mechanisms for the redevelopment of post-industrial areas in the Czech Republic. Such support mechanisms were researched and analysed in those EU countries that have broad and varied experience with the regeneration of post-industrial areas. The most favourable case studies were selected from Germany, with a particular focus given to the districts around the city of Leipzig, and the United Kingdom, highlighting the city of Manchester. For these chosen examples, I have analysed the legislative, institutional, and financial tools of urban regeneration support. One chapter is dedicated to the analysis of the environmental assessment tools for buildings and urban communities as alternative approach to the support of municipal regeneration. Findings from all chapters are contrasted with the analysis of four typical examples of derivation of post-industrial areas in Czech cities, which were chosen as being typical of unsuccessful redevelopments. Based on these examples I have compiled recommendations gained from successful mechanisms for urban regeneration abroad which could be considered and put into practice here in the Czech Republic.
Konvergence krajů České republiky pod vlivem ekonomické krize
Koutný, Jan
This diploma thesis examines the influence of the economic crisis from 2008-2009 on the convergence of the regions of the Czech Republic defined at NUTS 3 level. Trends in region convergence are identified based on the beta convergence and sigma convergence analysis using panel data from 2002-2015. Subsequently are discussed the reasons for the observed differences and the consequences of unequal economic development in the regions for private companies that are located or are operating in the regions.

Karaba, Lukáš ; Plášil, Jiří (referee) ; Koutný, Jan (advisor)
The main goal was to create a place that will enrich the cultural life in the city and will inevitably link to the Besedni House both indoors and outdoors. The goal was also to create a pleasant environment for the pedestrian zone with greenery instead of the current parking lot, and to expand the city center to a more usable area for the public.
New scene of the Beseda House in Vyškov - neoplasm in a historical setting
Pagáč, Martin ; Plášil, Jiří (referee) ; Koutný, Jan (advisor)
The aim of this thesis was to create a completion to an existing beseda house in Vyškov. The proposal solves the space in the place of the loopholes created during the 20th century and the attractiveness of the entrance to the city center in this part of the urban conservation area. The proposal in this area favors a pedestrian passage with parking spaces only for employees of nearby buildings, employees and theater workers of the beseda house and potentially for residents. The car park is moved to the rectory (house number 2). The designed building respects the connection to the height of the floors and the height division of the facade of the neighboring house of the new object. Beseda house consists of many functions which implies that there is a high burden for this building in its current state. The completion refills by a new house with a new hall with foyer, facilities for employees and members of the theater association and also operate as a multifunctional object. The proposal is divided into 3 phases. The first phase solves the traffic situation in Kostelní street and also deals with the continuity not only of the new object, but even with of the surrounding buildings, including the market store and residential buildings in this place. In the second phase, the new building is realized with minimal disruption of the present beseda house. The third phase discuss the nearby surroundings and landscaping in close proximity to the building and allows for a sufficient pre-space for the scattered surfaces before entering the newly designed building. The third phase is connected with modifications in an existing beseda house - moving of hygienic equipment to the new building and enlarging the foyer.
