Petra Nováková Opponent: Title of bachelor thesis: Physiotherapy treatment for patients following a fractured lumbar vertebra, focusing on conservative treatment using some elements of the McKenzie method ABSTRACT This bachelor thesis focuses on the possibilities of physiotherapy treatment as a part of conservative type of treatment for patients who have had a fracture of the lumbar spine. The general part consists mainly of anatomy and kinesiology of lumbar spine, classification and diagnostics of fractures of the lumbar vertebrae. The special section presents case histories of two patients who were treated by conservative type of treatment. With these patients, I did a therapy under the supervision of an experienced physiotherapist, focusing particularly on using of the McKenzie method. Patients were instructed to independently exercise that was focused on recovery the ROM of the lumbar spine, eliminating pain and reducing the overall feeling of stiffness in this area. Next part of this bachelor thesis is a manual with photographs, which contains information about a Jewett corset that patients wear a few weeks after the injury and provides detailed explanations of exercises to recovery the ROM of your spine. Recent promising treatments for Huntington’s disease (HD) may require pre-clinical testing in large animals. In 2009, we generated HD transgenic (TgHD) minipigs with one copy encoding the N-terminal part (548 aa) of human huntingtin (HTT) with 124 CAG/CAA repeats integrated into chromosome 1 q24-q25. The successful germ line transmission occurred through four successive generations.

Romana Lavičková Opponent: Title of bachelor thesis: Functional electrical stimulation of nervus peroneus of patients after stroke Abstract: This bachelor thesis consists of a theoretical and a practical part. The theoretical part is mainly focused on the option of managing foot drop with the use of functional electrical stimulation. It provides background research of available thematical literature, information about current options of using funtional electrical stimulation and information of its combination with other types of therapy. It also provides results of research studies that have been realized and describes effects of functional electrical stimulation on different aspects of gait and function of the lower limb. Described effects are both of orthotic (immediate) and therapeutic (long-term) character. Goal of the practical part was to compare gait of one patient after stroke with no compensational device and with functional electrical stimulator and to sum-up the orthothic effect of electrostimulator. It was anticipated that both quantity and quality of gait would be improved, but there was no noted improvement in quantity. Methods of physiotherapy after fracture of the distal forearm

Eva Svobodová Title: Methods of physiotherapy after fracture of the distal forearm Abstract: The thesis deals with the issue of distal forearm fractures and subsequent physical therapy. The theoretical part contains an anatomical description and the kinematics of the forearm and the hand. The next chapter is about injuries to the skeletal system - fractures and their healing and classification. The part focusing on distal forearm fractures describes the mechanism of the occurrence of the injury, possible complications and finally the conservative therapy (the surgical therapy is briefly mentioned as well). The theoretical part concludes with a chapter about physical therapy in patients after conservative treatment. The practical part contains the methodology, the definition of the objective, the characteristics of the chosen group and the applied methods. This is followed by the description of the cases of two patients after distal radius fractures, treated in a conservative manner. Problem of painful shoulder in hemiparetics patients

This bachelor thesis is focused on a painful hemiparetic shoulder as a frequently observed complication in patients suffering from stroke. Basic information about stroke, anatomy and kinematics of shoulder joint is included in a theoretical part of the thesis. The largest portion describes a pathogenesis of painful hemiparetic shoulder, its prevention and commonly used physiotherapeutic approaches. The practical part of the thesis consists of two case reports of patients with stroke suffering from painful hemiparetic shoulder. In both cases, a combination of physiotherapeutic approaches applied in ten cycles over a period of 4 to 6 weeks was used. To prove an effectiveness of the therapy, I used kinesiological assessment as well as a faces pain scale for an evaluation of shoulder pain. To assess a mobility of the shoulder, I used a goniometry and functional tests for upper limb. Results of the therapy are described in a discussion part of the thesis and indicate that the combination of physiotherapeutic approaches may decrease pain as well as improve the mobility of affected shoulder. Low back pain - overview of rating scales and their use in physiotherapy practise

Title: Low back pain - overview of rating scales and their use in physiotherapy practise Abstract: The thesis is focused on the creation of the overview of rating scales deal with low back pain. This overview includes 28 scales in sum. Eight scales from this summary are selected for a practice. Four ambulant patients were attended in the research. These patients go to physiotherapy for low back pain regularly. Two patients have a radicular symptomatology and the other two are without this irritation. Each patient was physical examined by physiotherapist. The results from respondents were compared with the results of examination of the therapist. Each of these respondents chose the most appropriate scale from his focus. The time-consuming of filling and scoring of scales was determined. In conclusion the most appropriate scales were noted for the needs of ambulatory care in physiotherapy practise. Romana Lavičková Title: Overview and use of rating scales in patients after stroke in physiotherapy Abstract: The work consists of a rough overview of rating scales used in physiotherapy in patients after stroke. The theoretical part contains information about the formation, classification and clinical picture of stroke, then a chapter about physiotherapy methods used in these patients. The last part consists of individual tests and knowledge about them. The practical part is focused on five selected tests that are applied in the examination of the 3 patients. These tests are: Modified Rankin Scale, The National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale, Fugl-Meyer Assessment of lower extremity, Stroke Rehabilitation Assessment of Movement and Stroke Impact Scale.
