Evaluation of the sunshine policy of the Republic of Korea towards the DPRK

The thesis describes Korean Peninsula political development from 1998 to 2008, in the frame of historical context from 1948 when two independent states were oficially founded. Discussed decade was characterized by the policy of engagement or the sunshine policy of the Republic of Korea, respectively. This represented a concept of friendly relationship towards the DPRK, aiming at final unification. Detailed description of the political development year by year and its evaluation is the subject of this thesis.

Chinese View on the Korean Peninsula: the Presence and the Future

The thesis focuses on the relationship between China and the Korean Peninsula. It examines China's view on the peninsula, its ties to and influence over this region and its conceptions for the future of the peninsula. The thesis concentrates on the relations between the People's Republic of China and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. Nevertheless, the relationship between them is analyzed in the context of the Chinese long-term strategy for the Korean Peninsula. The primary Chinese interests related to North Korea are identified together with instruments that can China use to accomplish them. Special focus is given to the assessment of the economic influence that China has over North Korea. However, the Chinese economic leverage is examined in connection with political and military relations between those two countries and in broader context of the development of international relations in Northeast Asia.

Foreign direct investment in the Czech - Taiwan relationship

The paper deals with the role of FDI in a country's economic development. First the economic development and the role of FDI in this process is described for Czech Republic and Taiwan. Further, the relationships between the two countries and EU as a major international player are analyzed. Next a comparison of the economic development and FDI in both of the named countries is carried out. In the the mutual economic and FDI relationships between Czech Republic and Taiwan are analysed. These relationships are demosntrated on the case of taiwanese FDI in Czech Republic including the reasons which lead the investor's decisions.

India as an important participant in international relations: application on the example of Africa

The significance of India in the international system has been increasing not only because of its fast economic development. As one of the manifestations of India's growing position can be considered the expanding of interests to African continent, which is the pivotal topic of this diploma thesis. The presence of India in Africa and its foreign policy towards this continent was analyzed on the basis of the method of four level analysis, which means foreign policy of India towards Africa is examined on levels of international system, state, domestic influences and individuals. To show the position of India in Africa in full context the part comparing its activities with another Asian economic power -- China - is included.

Russian-Chinese Relations at the Turn of the 20th and 21st centuries

Práce pojednává o vývoji a současném stavu rusko-čínských vztahů. V první části stručně shrnuje historický vývoj vztahů zhruba od konce 19.století do rozpadu SSSR. Hlavní část práce se pak věnuje období od 90.let 20.století do současnosti a předkládá i možné varianty do budoucnosti. Největší pozornost je věnována politickým vztahů, ať již bilaterálním, tak v rámci mezinárodních organizací (RB OSN a zejména Šanghajská organizace spolupráce), dále pak vztahům ekonomickým.

Médiá a propaganda

Diplomová práca sa venuje problematike propagandy, úlohe a postaveniu médií v propagandistických kampaniach, najskôr obecne, neskôr so zameraním sa na jednotlivé typy masmédií a zmeny ich roly v propagandistických kampaniach. DP obsahuje historický vývoj propagandy a nezastupiteľnej roly médií v nej, upozorňuje na faktory, ktoré síce nepredstavujú propagandu v pravom slova zmysle, avšak rovnako ako propaganda narúšajú objektívnosť mediálneho zdelenia, ako aj obsiahly súpis uvedomelých a cielených propagandistických metód a techník, využívaných k presadzovaniu propagandistických cieľov. Druhá časť DP sa venuje procesom zmien postavenia a úlohy jednotlivých typov médií a na konkrétnych príkladoch poukazuje na zlomové body v histórii toho ktorého masmediálneho prostriedku, so zameraním sa na oblasť vojnovej propagandy a zmeny roly médií v nej.

Boj medzinárodných inštitúcií proti chudobe a chorobám

Diplomová práca spracováva problematiku boja proti chudobe a chorobám z pozície medzinárodných organizácií ako sú Organizácia spojených národov, Medzinárodný menový fond, Svetová banka a skupina G8. Hodnotí vybrané projekty rozvojovej pomoci, pozornosť venuje najmä Miléniovým rozvojovým cieľom. Zvýrazňuje kľúčové prvky pre úspešný boj. Záverečná časť práce analyzuje dôležitosť vzdelávania v boji s chudobou a popisuje vybrané vzdelávacie projekty jendotlivých inštitúcií.
