Bertolt Brecht's Dreigroschenroman in Czech translations
Šimůnková, Helena ; Veselá, Gabriela (advisor) ; Kloudová, Věra (referee)
My thesis is a comparison and translation analysis of two translations of the Dreigroschenroman, a novel by the renowned German author Bertolt Brecht. The first translation, by Jaroslav Zaorálek, was published in 1935 with the poems translated by Břetislav Mencák. The second translation, by Rudolf Vápeník, was published in 1973 with the poems translated by Ludvík Kundera. As of now, no other translation of the novel into Czech has been made. The empirical part of my thesis, in which the translations are analysed, is preceded by the theoretical part. In the theoretical part I present some basic facts about Bertolt Bercht's person, the Dreigroschenroman, the reception of Brecht's work in Czechoslovakia and the Czech Republic as well as abroad, and the Czech translators of the novel. I have attempted to place the author and his work into a proper literary, social and historical context. The theoretical part is divided into several chapters. Chapter One is an introduction to the topic and the structure and aim of my thesis. Chapter Two is a summary of the current state of research. I mention biographies of Bertolt Brecht, Czech master theses on Brecht's work, and relevant articles on this topic. Chapter Three is about the person of Bertolt Brecht. The first part of this chapter is a summary of his life, with a...

Koptík, Tomáš ; Kloudová, Věra (advisor) ; Šemelík, Martin (referee)
This thesis demonstrates the necessity of inventarisation of word-formation components in the bi-lingual dictionaries, taking adjective affixoids as an example. Describing the hands-on approach to addition of these word-formation components into the upcoming Large German-Czech Academic Dictionary, it points to the issues arising in connection with the inventarisation itself.
