Interjections in the Czech language system

The aim of this thesis is to study interjections, their position in the Czech language system and their status and functioning in the written and spoken speech. In the theoretical part the thesis describes, analyses, compares and partially evaluates the concept of interjections in some Czech grammar and dictionary-type manuals. The thesis is focused on the definition and classification of interjections in the case of grammar and also reflects the problematic boundary between interjections and other word classes, especially particles. In the case of dictionaries, the thesis focuses on the grasp and processing of interjections as dictionary entries. The practical part of thesis is devoted to exploring the use of interjections in various types of written texts (professional, non-fictional, journalistic, fictional and written dialogical texts on the Internet) and dialogical spoken speech (excerpts from the Czech national corpus, TV discussions, talk shows and normally spoken language).
