Matějková, Erika ; Fraňková, Slávka (advisor) ; Kebza, Vladimír (referee) ; Pařízková, Jana (referee)
This work is directed at determining the stereotypes with which men, women of normal weight and obese women perceive other women on the basis of their figure. Specifically we looked at first impressions. Materials and Methods We surveyed 166 respondents from the Czech Republic. The first part of the survey included 10 questions about how men and women judge other women based on their body size and what attributes they give them. This was followed by 21 statements (descriptors) to be matched with photos of women of different body size who were felt to possess that characteristic. The last part of the survey contained projective questions about perceived and ideal figure. In addition there were enclosed photographs of five women of different body sizes. The women had their faces blurred to obtain a true projective testimony. Results Attributes ascribed to women Statistically significant differences in how women are perceived by men, women of normal weight and obese women include the following. Men assume that when a woman lets her body weight go to either extreme, she is the least intelligent. Men perceive thin women as being pliable while fuller figured women are viewed as being more self-confident and assertive. In contrast women of normal body weight perceive thinner women as cold. Obese women view thin...
Objectivity, subjectivity and Karl Raimund Popper
Fafejta, Ondřej ; Uhlář, Pavel (referee) ; Kebza, Vladimír (advisor)
The author of the dissertation finds three approaches which can be taken as for the topic of objectivity and subjectivity: the cartesian, the kantian and the postmodern. He adopts the kantian approach, which leads to K. R. Popper's philosophy of science. On the basis of Popper's thoughts the author finds two concepts of objectivity: outer unknowable objectivity of the world, and inner objectivity of logic as a tool for knowledge. Outer objectivity or the world per se is a metaphysical concept for the unreachable limit of our knowledge. The author also distinguishes two concepts of subjectivity: subjective (known) experience, which is the most immediate tool for knowing outer objectivity, and objective (experienced) experience or experience per se which is identical with outer objectivity. The author's theory of objectivity and subjectivity thus contains three parts: outer objectivity/objective experience, subjective experience and inner objectivity. The author applies it as background for conversations in the sphere of helping professions. The first part which is metaphysical can only be presupposed. Therefore subjective impressions are the base of the conversation, purely individual for everybody, but presented if possible in so logical context that they can be understandable to other participants of the...

Fibigerová, Kateřina ; Šulová, Lenka (referee) ; Kebza, Vladimír (advisor)
The present thesis is conceived as a theoretical study mapping the problem of the representational and intentional mental content, as principal psychological concepts, on the background of fundamental semantic conceptions of sign and its meaning. The intention is to model the mental representation and intentionality as semantic functions of mind, and than, from this point of view to understand the concept of mental content by analogy with sign meaning. The assumed analogy is observed at the level of structural and ontological caracteristics of the content and the meaning. The objectif of this paper is to elaborate a critical survey of main trends in this problem, which haven't yet been object of any integrated study.
