Projected User Interface - Card Game
Brestič, Tomáš ; Kapinus, Michal (referee) ; Najman, Pavel (advisor)
Current effort to make human-computer interaction more intuitive leads to utilization of gestures replacing the need to use a conventional input device. At the same time there is a tendency to integrate the output into the physical world around the user and therefore to minimize any artificial means of interaction in general. The aim of this thesis is to implement a card game that can be controlled on the basis of the principles described above. Fundamental issues are human motion tracking, hand detection and gesture recognition. The application uses depth data from the second generation of Kinect sensor, analytical description of gestures and allows up to four players to play the game. Its graphics are projected on the table to maximize compliance with the real situation.
Tabletop Object Detection
Timko, Martin ; Veľas, Martin (referee) ; Kapinus, Michal (advisor)
The aim of this thesis is to design and create a module for robotic platform PR2. This module has to detect objects in front of the robot on a table and enable various operations with these objects. This thesis describes methods of object detection which were used in the implementation of the module. The thesis also describes the methods used for design and implementation of this module. The module testing and evaluation of results are mentioned at the end of the thesis.
From a Dumb Boiler to a Smart One Using a Smart Socket
Grünwald, Adam ; Kapinus, Michal (referee) ; Materna, Zdeněk (advisor)
The goal of this thesis is to extend a smart home by a smart boiler created from a dumb one with help of a smart plug and two temperature sensors for measuring values in a boiler. This smart boiler will be able to adapt to the household's schedule of using hot water using a learning algorithm, which uses historical data of hot water consumption measured on the boiler. Heating to higher temperature is happening before expected consumption or on request, which is represented as a special event in Google Calendar. The boiler can be either turned off with help of Google Calendar, which can be used when the whole family goes on holiday and it isn't needed to heat the water in the boiler. Programs for collecting and evaluating data, managing the heating of boiler, the database, and service showing statistics, run on a laptop in a local network. The main benefit of the thesis is creating a device, which can adapt boiler to smart home and reduce electricity costs on hot water heating by more than 30 %, which on 80 l boiler represents savings of more than 130 Euro per year.
Augmented Reality for Desk Games and Educational Applications
Záleský, Jiří ; Kapinus, Michal (referee) ; Beran, Vítězslav (advisor)
This bachelor thesis deals with the topic of augmented reality and its use for board games and educational applications on the interactive table. The goal was to create a stand-alone system for an easy interactive game table creation, by designing a system that allows communication with the interactive table and the creation of a demo-application that presents the functionality of the system. In the system design section, the technologies and tools used, such as C ++, Qt, or Catkin, were introduced and the first design of the game - demo-application was created. The implementation section explains how to transform the design into a functioning application, and includes a description of the internal structure of the application. The last part of the work focused on testing brings, in addition to revealing the application errors, other suggestions for its expansion in the future. The result of the work is a functioning system for augmented reality and demo-application for it, which in the future will help to create other programs for an interactive table. The system is designed for use on the interactive ARTable3 table.
Robot Control with Voice Commands
Hájek, Pavel ; Kapinus, Michal (referee) ; Španěl, Michal (advisor)
This bachelor's thesis describes design and development of a robot voice control application aiming at platform PR2. It explains the procecess of voice recognition and describes the robot operating system as a target platform.  The application uses library Sphinx-4 to translate speech to text, which is than published in ROS. In the end, the set of tests is described. Tests discovered, that the best way to control robot with a few simple commands is developing own grammar.
Home Automation Based on Arduino/WeMos/RPi Platform
Bubeníček, Daniel ; Materna, Zdeněk (referee) ; Kapinus, Michal (advisor)
This thesis deals with design and implementation of home automation system based on Arduino, WeMos and Raspberry Pi platforms. Twelve modules for home automation were designed, which can be easily built on these platforms. The implemented prototype allows to control heating system and LED light, track temperature and humidity, detect newly connected Wi-Fi devices, human motion, door opening, create custom automation rules etc. The system uses pre-existing household equipment. The new hardware used in prototype cost only 1.600 CZK.
User Interface for ARTable and Microsoft Hololens
User Interface Based on Kinect
Kapinus, Michal ; Španěl, Michal (referee) ; Beran, Vítězslav (advisor)
The aim of the thesis was to create and evaluate a concept for the design of touchless user interfaces based on Kinect. It describes various devices and methods which are used for creating of the depth map. Furthermore the thesis includes the design of experiments that were used for testing of the speed and the accuracy of Kinect-based interactive kiosks. Results of these experiments are evaluated as well.
Strategic Game on Interactive Table
Jiruška, Adam ; Najman, Pavel (referee) ; Kapinus, Michal (advisor)
The aim of this work is to implement strategic board game on an interactive table. This table is ARTable, a platform which is developed at the Faculty of Information Technology, BUT. Here the principle of combination of the projected user interface and the touch layer on the table is used. The created app allows to play slightly modified version of the wellknown game Settlers of Catan for up to four players, including the ability to edit and create new maps.
IoT with Raspberry Pi, Mobile Phone, and Samsung Galaxy Watch
Koudelka, Jakub ; Kapinus, Michal (referee) ; Zemčík, Pavel (advisor)
The goal of this bachelor's thesis was to design and implement smart home system. System can be used by user oriented applications for mobile phone and smart watch. The thesis analyses an existing solutions and technologies used for smart homes. Based on analysis is determined technical product specification, which is used for implementation of system and application. Product of thesis is functioning system manageable by Android application and application for Galaxy Watch.
