Forms of active cooperation with a senior family in inretiment houses.
KOUBKOVÁ, Michaela
My Bachelor thesis addresses the topic of cooperation between retirement homes and families of elderly people, since the demographic aging represents a world-wide issue associated with the increased aging of population. The thesis aims to determine which forms of cooperation with families of elderly people are used by selected retirement homes in the South-Bohemian Region, and to specify the forms of cooperation in terms of efficiency, perspectives and current options implemented by retirement homes. The sectional goals of this thesis are to determine whether the retirement homes consider the cooperation with the families of elderly people as important for the purposes of providing comprehensive care and whether the elderly people are satisfied with the manner in which the institution cooperates with their family. The quantitative manner of research was used for the purposes of implementing the survey, while being performed via questionnaire surveys in selected retirement homes in the South-Bohemian Region. Thereupon, the secondary analysis of data was compiled in the Microsoft Office Excel 2007. The outcomes of the thesis may be used by retirement homes for the purposes of improving the quality of their services. Moreover, the retirement homes may also clarify whether the elderly people are satisfied with the particular cooperation between the family and the institution. The questionnaire surveys uncovered that the retirement homes consider the cooperation with the families of elderly people to be important for the purposes of providing their clients with comprehensive care and that the elderly people are usually satisfied with the cooperation between their families and the retirement home. As for the form of cooperation, the retirement homes mainly use the option of involving the family in the care being taken of the elderly person.
The Use of Meditation in the Care about a Client
Koubková, Michaela ; Sivek, Vojtěch (advisor) ; Lhotová, Marie (referee)
The thesis titled, "The Use of Meditation in the Care of Clients," explores the benefits and limitations in using meditation as a supplemental tool in the field of psychotherapy, with an emphasis on clients dealing with addiction. The report first gives some general background about meditation, recognizing its religious origin. The focus of the study, however, then narrows to a more universal aspect of meditation, which can be understood as achieving a higher state of awareness of the self in present circumstances. Certain essential guidelines in the use of practical meditation are also highlighted in the report. The practical portion of the study presents interviews with therapists using meditation in their practice and answers obtained from questionnaires given to clients being treated. The thesis concludes by stating that although evidence does suggest that meditation practices could help clients, the technique should be used in addition to more conventional practices rather than replacing any of them.
