The (Epistemological) Status of the Concept of the Eternal Recurrence of the Same in Philosophy of F. W. Nietzsche
Kocourek, Petr ; Sandkaulen, Birgit (advisor) ; Pulte, Helmut (referee)
The (Epistemological) Status of the Concept of the Eternal Recurrence of the Same in Philosophy of F. W. Nietzsche. Abstract This work aims to reconstruct the intention and position of Nietzsche's thinking in the period of introduction of the theory of Eternal Recurrence in order to find out the latter's epistemological status. The disposition is set up through an analyzing of Nietzsche's thoughts on vanity, will to power and the act of giving. The Eternal Reccurence is consequently presented as "productive idea." Key words: The Eternal Recurrence of the Same, Will to Power, Vanity, Act of Giving, Productive Idea
Intermission of the game on the grounds of breaking the rules in young-junior boys categories
Kocourek, Petr ; Velenský, Michael (advisor) ; Kaprálek, Tomáš (referee)
Title: Intermission of the game on the grounds of breaking the rules in young-junior boys categories. Objectives: This diploma thesis aims to find out intervals of the game and intervals of the intermission of the game in young-junior basketball and youth boys basketball matches, and to compare the detected data. The other aim is to discover the reasons leading to the intermission of the game of each catogory during these matches. Methods: As a research method, the method of observation of the video recordings of youth basketball and young-junior basketball matches from the website tvcom.cz was chosen. Using the basic statistic and arithmetic methods, the measured data were processed statistically and, consequently, graphically also. Results: It was discovered that children playing the young-junior basketball have the shortest average interval of the continuous game in all studied categories and that this interval is shorter than the interval of the average duration of the intermission of the game during young-junior basketball matches. The most frequent reason for the intermission of the game in all categories is a personal foul of the player and a ball, or a player with a ball out of bonds. Keywords: playing time, youth, sports education, basketball, rules
Development of Activities of Chinese Organizations in Vancouver (1896-1923): Case Study of Chinese Benevolent Association
Kocourek, Petr ; Fiřtová, Magdalena (advisor) ; Sehnálková, Jana (referee)
The Chinese are currently the largest Asian national minority in Canada. Tthey make up about thirty percent of the total population of Vancouer. The Chinese have played an important role in the history of British Columbia. The first Chinese arrived on the shores of British Columbia in the first half of the 19th century. A significant increase of new Chinese immigrants comes with the construction of the Canadian Pacific Railway, which was built primarily thanks to hard work of Chinese workers. After completion of the railroad, a large proportion of immigrants settled in Vancouver, which in the early 20th century became the city with the largest Chinatown in Canada. However, the Chinese encountered resentment from Canadian society, which considered them to be representatives of the inferior race, and part of the white public even demanded their deportation and a total ban on the entry of new Chinese immigrants. However, the Chinese community came together and concentrated in Chinatowns. But, they constantly faced stereotypes from Canadian society. Various organizations and associations also began to emerge and they tried in any way to help the Chinese community. The Chinese Benevolent Association has become one of the most important organizations. This bachelor's thesis will therefore focus primarily...
Stress ribbon curved structure
Kocourek, Petr ; Stráský, Jiří (advisor)
The theme of this doctoral thesis is research of footbridges curved in plan that are formed by stress ribbon. Recently, several noteworthy curved pedestrian bridges, which decks are suspended on their inner edges on suspension or stay cables, have been constructed. However, curved stress ribbon bridges have not been built so far. The goal of this study was to answer the question whether the use of curved stress ribbon structures is even possible. For this reason, in the first stage feasibility study of these structures has been prepared. Knowledge of both curved pedestrian bridges, which decks are suspended on their inner edge and straight stress ribbon has been used. For the mathematical modeling FEM software ANSYS was used. The obtained findings were further used to design a new type of a modern, aesthetic curved bridge for pedestrians. The structure is formed by slender reinforced deck, which is through the steel brackets on the inner side stiffened by steel section. Torsion of the deck, caused by curved structure and asymmetrical cross-section, is reduced by cable situated in the handrail. Footbridge span is 45 m, arc camber in plan is 10 m, free bridge width is 3 m. Described is a general structure effect, detail static and dynamic analysis was carried out. Designed structure including construction stages were experimentally verified on a fully physical functional 1:6 scale model. The thesis describes the model analogy used for the design of the model, its structural design and its implementation. The model was subjected to a series of load tests including the final ultimate strength test. Performed tests confirmed the good match of calculation with the reality, correctness of the design and high resistance of designed construction. Acquired results and experiences from design and realization of model form the basis for practical realization of studied structures.

Footbridge across the expressway
Páleník, Petr ; Kocourek, Petr (referee) ; Nečas, Radim (advisor)
The aim of this master thesis is a design of the pedestrian bridge across the highway. The bridge is formed by a slab structure of 6 spans with lenghts from 9 to 51 m. The main spans are suspended on a V shape pylon. The deck of the span across the highway is assambled of precast segments and composite deck slab. The deck is in the lenghtways kept in the parabolic arch. The model of the construction is made in software ANSYS, the solution was done non-linear. The design and assessment are according to the europien standard.
