Ein Beitrag zur Erforschung der besetzten Hauptstädte Europas deals with the German occupation of Prague before and during World War II in the context of current research on the National-socialist occupation of Europe. The so-called Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia has been somewhat on the sidelines of current trends in international historiography as has the history of Prague in the Twentieth century. The thesis therefore first sketches out the broader research context as well as the roots for German occupation policy in the former Czechoslovak capital city, referring to the once prominent position of the German minority in Prague. One main focus of the thesis is then to try and analyse the (changing) structure and the population movement of the Germans in Prague during the years of occupation. In a next step, examples are given on how the German occupation regime tried to consolidate and expand the Germans' position in the city, aiming for an eventual re-modeling of the urban structure in terms of a "Germanisation" of the Bohemian capital. A chapter on the final collapse and dissolution of "German Prague" concludes the study.

The aim of this thesis are german-polish relationships that began to change during the 1980's and the 1990's. Poland was on the verge of political, social, and economical transformation. The BRD and DDR were about to unite and that was not possible without dealing with their past. Impact of the Ukrainian conflict on population mobility

Since spring 2014, an armed conflict has been taking place in the eastern part of Ukraine between the Pro-Russian separatists and the Ukrainian state. As a result of this armed conflict, there was a stream of forced migration. The statistics speak up to about 1.7 million people internally displaced and about a hundred other hundreds of people seeking international protection abroad. Of those seeking international protection, more than 200,000 have been granted temporary asylum in Russia. This thesis examines the impact of the Ukrainian armed conflict on the mobility of these displaced persons. The first way to study the impact of a selected conflict on population mobility is quantitative data analysis. In this analysis are compared the data on conflict intensity with data on internal migration in Ukraine and international migration to the states Russia, Poland and Czechia. The second way this diploma thesis examines the impact of the conflict on population mobility is based on the research of ten Ukrainians who left for Czechia from conflict areas and whose primary reason was the military conflict. The results show that there are links between the intensity of the military conflict and the migration strategy of the people of Eastern Ukraine.

Práce je věnována odškodnění českých obětí nacismu. Nejprve přibližuje, na čem byl založen původní západoněmecký zamítavý postoj a co vedlo k jeho změně. Dále je analyzován průběh fáze individuálního odškodňování a především pak důvody, které spolkovou vládu vedly k rozhodnutí usilovat v této oblasti o globální dohodu. Stejně tak je věnována pozornost postojům československé strany a jejím cílům při jednáních o dohodě.

An Isolated Island : West Berlin under Willy Brandt (1961-1966). The City behind the Berlin Wall

This thesis "An Isolated Island: West Berlin under Willy Brandt (1961- 1966). The city behind the Berlin Wall" concentrates on West Berlin between 1961 and 1966 and on the political initiatives of Willy Brandt as a Governing Mayor of the city. The city, which became immediately after World War II a central point of Cold War tensions between the East and the West, remained after the first Berlin Crisis the last gap in the Iron Curtain, where the two worlds - the East and the West - met face to face. After the construction of the Berlin wall the city experienced a shock, which it overcame very fast, and benefited from the subsequent changes thanks to extraordinary work of the Mayor Willy Brandt. His new political style and new communicative approach to politics transformed the situation in the city and led to rapid modernization and development. He was able to secure moral, political and above all financial support for the city for a long time period, which enabled to turn the city into a "showcase of democracy in the middle of the communist sea". Such a success in West Berlin elevated Willy Brandt into the highest political posts in Federal Republic of Germany.

Influence and Role of the Sudetengerman Organisations in the nineties in the Federal Republic of Germany

Sudetendeutsche Vereine bildeten in den 90er Jahren des 20. Jahrhunderts keine einheitliche Gruppe. In dem Zeitraum nach den revolutionären Umstürzen in der Mittel- und Osteuropa stellten sich die Sudetendeutschen Organisationen verschieden und mit verschiedenen Konzeptionen der Lösung vom historischen Problem, das mit der Vertreibung- Aussiedlung der nationalen Gruppe aus den böhmischen Ländern nach dem zweiten Weltkrieg in den Jahren 1945/1946 zusammenhängt. Die aktivste Organisation ist in der Zeit bis zur Verabschiedung der Tschechisch-deutschen Deklaration die Sudetendeutsche Landsmannschaft gewesen, die Organisationen der Sudetendeutschen Vereine umfasst. Von denen sind die bedeutendsten die katholische Ackermann Gemeinde, die sozialdemokratische Seliger Gemeinde und der national konservative Witikobund gewesen. Die katholische Ackermann Gemeinde hat sich am meisten um Vergleichung von historischen Streitfällen bemüht, dabei hat die Versöhnung mit Tschechen für diese Organisation die Priorität gebildet, die vorrangig vor Ansprüchen an Eigentumsentschädigungen und vor Aufhebung der nachkriegerischen Legislative gewesen ist, die Entrechtung der ganzen nationalen Gruppe und Vorbereitung auf ihre Aussiedlung bedeutet hatte.
