The study of mitochondrial energy-metabolism maturation
Křížová, Jana ; Hansíková, Hana (advisor) ; Pecina, Petr (referee) ; Rauchová, Hana (referee)
During intrauterine development in mammals, the fetus is exposed to a hypoxic environment. To allow proper postnatal adaptation to external conditions, a rapid transition from glycolytic to oxidative metabolism by mitochondria is required in fetal tissues after birth. Mitochondrial maturation is a complex process that is not only transcriptionally regulated. Using techniques such as microarray analysis, quantitative PCR, measurement of enzyme activities or coenzyme Q (CoQ) levels, we have described the acceleration of mitochondrial metabolism in rat liver tissue and skeletal muscle during the perinatal period and correlated the results with those in humans. Of the 1546 rat mitochondrial genes tested, we found statistically significant differences in the expression of 1119 in liver and 827 in muscle. The most significant shift in expression occurred in the rat liver between 20th and 22nd day of gestation, suggesting that the rat fetus is ready for the transition to external conditions at least 2 days before birth. Changes in CoQ levels in both rats and humans show that the amount of CoQ is low inthe prenatal period and increases after birth in both tissues. We have described the atypical kinase Coq8ap as an enzyme whose expression increases significantly after birth. It was previously predicted to...
Nutritional status of patients with acute leukemia during the oncological treatment
Kupilíková, Veronika ; Šťastná-Marková, Markéta (advisor) ; Křížová, Jarmila (referee)
Acute leukemia is defined as a heterogeneous group of malignant hematopoietic stem cell disorders. The aim of this study was to investigate the extent to which nutritional disorders occur in patients with acute leukemia during the cancer treatment, their severity, the most common causes of weight loss, and the extent to which different forms of nutritional intervention are applied in patients. The research was carried out in the Institute of Haematology and Blood Transfusion, during the hospitalization of patients in the inpatient ward, intensive care unit and transplant unit. The study population consisted of 40 patients diagnosed with acute leukemia. Outcomes from nutritional status screening (MNA questionnaire, BMI, weight, mid arm circumference, calf circumference, BIA, biochemical nutritional parameters), and functional assessment (ECOG PS, Chair-stand test, Hand grip test) were used to process the practical part and answer the research questions. Measurements were performed twice with approximately one month intervals. The study confirmed weight loss since the onset of the disease in 95 % of patients. The dominant cause of weight loss was identified in 80 % as lack of appetite. Nutritional screening by MNA evaluated the patient population with a mean score of 22,8 ± 2,9, referring to the risk...
Procedural principles relating to evidence
Křížová, Jana ; Macková, Alena (advisor) ; Pohl, Tomáš (referee)
FUNDAMENTAL PRINCIPLES OF COMMON PLEA SUMMARY (Resumé) The main topic of the thesis is fundamental principles of common plea. I have chosen the topic, because I am convinced that good orientation in this field of law is an excellent pre-requisite for good performance in all legal professions. The fundamental principles of common plea shall be known by judge leading the procedure, by attorney defending rights of his/her clients and helping them to prove facts of which they would take an advantage, as well as by state prosecutor participating under the setting conditions in the common plea. My thesis is divided into the five parts. The reason for choosing the topic and the main aim of my work has been explained in the first part. The second part is named "The Evidence". For the judgement, the court of justice has to have knowledge about legal issues (iura novit curia) as well as knowledge about facts of the case (those are proved by evidence during the procedure). Proving procedure is a legally entitled procedure which is considered to be essential for the common plea. First, it is necessary to define what has to be proved (the object of prove procedure) and by which means (proper evidence). The next chapter named "Development of the Common plea as a fight for changes of different principles" is dedicated to...
The analysis of digital archive Ask the Library
Křížová, Jana ; Bratková, Eva (advisor) ; Římanová, Radka (referee)
This bachelor's thesis seeks to analyze records of answered queries, saved in their online digital archive of the Czech national digital reference service called Ask your library. Two first chapters are based on studying sources, found within a bibliographical exploration of the subject. The first chapter briefly presents the service (development, current state, function, organization and administration, receiving and answering processes, etc.). The second chapter describes in detail the creation of online archive with answered queries and researching information from it. In the third chapter is detailed analysis of answered queries. The presentation of the results forms a major part of the work. The analysis includes the presentation and interpretation of basic statistics published on the Web site (eg. the proportion of questions within years, the share of stakeholders on answering queries, etc..), and analysis of the content of the answered queries within selected thematic categories (content and nature of the response, used and others recommended resources). Finally, the author evaluates the results of the analysis of the online archive of the answered queries and perspectives of next development of this service. Keywords: virtual reference services, Asky your library, reference query, analysis,...

Křížová, Jana ; Jarolímková, Adéla (advisor) ; Dvořák, Jan (referee)
The aim of the diploma thesis is to describe the HathiTrust Digital Library and analyze its content with respect to documents written in Czech language. The first and part of the second chapter is written on the basis of the studied sources and summarizes information about the partnership and the HathiTrust Digital Library. It also describes its objectives, various sub- projects and services (such as the HathiTrust Research Center, a US federal documents project and a metadata management system), membership options and benefits, and briefly summarizes some of the technical parameters of this digital library. The second chapter is partly based on practical experience with use of the HathiTrust Digital Library user interface. In addition to analyzing the user interface (including its mobile version), this section also includes description of metadata, its formats, standards, and movements. The last part of the second chapter is devoted to copyright issues, the possibilities of accessing full texts, and also to the lawsuit Authors Guild v. HathiTrust. The third chapter describes the analysis of the content of the HathiTrust Digital Library, with an emphasis on documents written in Czech. The results of this analysis are described and interpreted. Expropriation relating to construction lines (particularly under the Energy Act and the Electronic Communications Act.)
Křížová, Jana ; Handrlica, Jakub (advisor) ; Staša, Josef (referee)
The aim of this thesis is to analyse the problematics of expropriation by construction lines in the area of energetics and telecommunications, which are considered to be strategic net branches of industry. Expropriation itself is regarded as an utmost intervention in the law of property, whose guarantee is secured with the highest legal power in the constitutional order of the Czech republic. As far as the structure of this thesis is concerned, it is divided into three main chapters described as following: The first chapter deals with basic definitions of the key words of this work, namely: construction, construction line and expropriation. Construction can be perceived in the sense of not only Civil code, but also Building act and it is crucial to differ these two regulations one from another. Construction line seems to be the source of a wide range of complications due to the fact that there is no legal definition of this term in the Building act. It should be taken into serious consideration to define this term in the future. The term of expropriation has two different meanings in the czech legal system, the first meaning represented by the widely acknowledged legal theory, the second one expressed in the key regulation of this institute - the Act of expropriation. The regulation of expropriation itself...
Abraham in the New Testament
Křížová, Jana ; Mrázek, Jiří (advisor) ; Pokorný, Petr (referee)
The thesis Abraham in the New Testament commences with the narrative of Abraham in the Book of Genesis, evaluates responses to that story in the Old Testament as well as in the extra-biblical literature, and then examines its use in the New Testament. Abraham is introduced as God's friend, a model of faith, and a forefather. The questions are raised as to who are entitled to think of themselves as heirs to Abraham's promises and what are the consequences for the Curch. Appendices provide a list of Bible verses wherein Abraham is mentioned or which make allusions to his story. Other attachments present key texts from the Old and New Testaments and their literal translations as source materials supporting the conclusions of the main text.
