Prague Spring and Post-1968 Czechoslovakia from the Norwegian Perspective
Jirásek, Vojtěch ; Pullmann, Michal (advisor) ; Rákosník, Jakub (referee)
The purpose of this Bachelor's Degree Paper is to reconstruct the Norwegian perception of the process of democratization during the second half of the 1960s and to trace Norway's ensuing assistance provided to Czechoslovakia's independent initiatives. The work succinctly summarizes the development of Czechoslovak-Norwegian relations and the activities of the post- February 1948 and post-August 1968 exiles in Norway. It also explores the way Norway's foreign policy and general public were influenced by the historical milestones that had a determining impact on Czechoslovakia's post-World War II history. These landmarks include the Communist coup d'état in February 1948, the year 1968 with its Prague Spring movement and the following military invasion of the country, and the emergence of Charter 77 in 1977. In the process of the formation of Czechoslovak-Norwegian relations in the fifties and sixties, a major role was played by post-February 1948 exiles. The organization Norsk- Tsjekkoslovakisk hjelpeforening was particularly instrumental in this respect. The institution was headed and founded by Anna Kvapilová, who - formerly in her native country - had been an activist of the National Socialist Party and collaborator of Milada Horáková. During the WWII, she was imprisoned in the concentration camp...
Turkish Foreign Policy towards Syria between 2002 and 2011
Jirásek, Vojtěch ; Aslan, Emil (advisor) ; Horák, Slavomír (referee)
This thesis studies Turkish foreign policy in Syria between years 2002 and 2011. Justice and Development Party (AKP) ruled in this period. In comparison with its predecessors, AKP started to focus more on Middle East and its foreign policy was often called as "neo-Ottoman". AKP brought concepts of "zero problems with neighbors" and "strategic depth" into Turkish foreign policy. Turkey also started to use more "soft power" in this period. This work searches those four concepts in Turkish foreign policy with Syria. Although Turkish foreign policy with Syria in years 2002 to 2011 contains number of elements of neo-Ottomanism, "zero problems with neighbors", "strategic depth" and "soft power", it is impossible to say it was based only on these concepts.

Stimulation of demand versus stimulation of supply: tax reforms in the US in the second half of the twentieth century
Jirásek, Vojtěch ; Strejček, Ivo (advisor) ; Zeman, Martin (referee)
The aim of the thesis is to compare the Reagan tax reforms in the US in the 80s with the Kennedy-Johnson tax policy from the 60s. Tax policy is a key tool to influence the economic situation in a country. The topic of tax reform is particularly timely in connection with the United States presidential elections. The thesis responds to criticism of Hillary Clinton and of economic policy of R. W. Reagan. Stimulation of demand in the 1960s and stimulation of supply in the 80s (both stimuli conducted mainly through the reduction of tax rates) provide similar results. In the period after the reforms GDP grows and unemployment decreases. On the contrary, we can see a reduction in the amount of collected funds in the period shortly after the reforms that in the long term returns to its original value and continues to grow. The thesis therefore brings important recognition of the positive impact of tax cuts on macroeconomic aggregates and of the long term increase of tax revenue to the state budget.
