Plačková, Veronika ; Jelen, Karel (advisor) ; Šorfová, Monika (referee)
Title: Detection of rheological changes in the axial system of pregnant women using the TVS method. Objectives: The aim of this thesis is to evaluace the effect of pregnancy on the biomechanical properties of the spine. Methods: TVS vibration diagnostic methods were applied to six pregnant women twice during pregnancy. It was investigated ability of axial system to dampen vibration spreading through out the spine. The ability of every single segment to damp vibrations were compared with each other at the beginning and during pregnancy. Results: TVS method used for purpose of this paper has been proved adequate to provide information about the resonant frequencies and the total attenuation of the spine with sufficient accuracy, so that the biomechanice changes of axial system during pregnancy could be decidly identified. Comparison of the frequency dependency and total attenuation of spine indicated increase of total attenuation of the spine and also increase of flexibility of the spine in all investigated probands. Císařová, Jitka ; Jelen, Karel (advisor) ; Tlapáková, Eva (referee)
Title of the thesis: 2-D photographic analysis for evaluation of women posture in late stages ofpregnancy Aims: Based on literature search to characterize biomechanical changes in up-right posture of pregnant women. To propose a process of evaluation and segmentation of side-view photographic pictures of pregnant women. To evaluate prevalence and intensity of back pain among the group of selected pregnant women. Methods: The 2-D analysis of photographic pictures was used as the main method in the AutoCad® software, by which the body segmentation was carried out. Position of the center of gravity projection to the ground plane was found by the Kistler® device (Multicomponent force plate with glass top plate). Evaluation of back pain was realized by a questionnaire search. Results: Our analysis showed that the center of gravity projection to the ground plane does not change during pregnancy. The mechanism by which pregnant women balance the increased mass in the bottom part of the trunk consists in a backward shift of the upper trunk segment and in increased buttocks mass. The prevalence of back pain found among the group ofselected pregnant women was 92,3%. Key words: Back Pain; Center ofGravity; Posture; Pregnancy

Pavlová, Lenka ; Kubový, Petr (advisor) ; Jelen, Karel (referee)
Title: The influence of pharmacological substances from the SYSADOA group on knee osteoarthritis. Objectives: The aim of this work is to determine the effect of three - month usage of pharmacological substances from the SYSADOA group on the subjective perception of the difficulties associated with the knee osteoarthritis and on the reological changes in the joint. Methods: In collaboration with rehabilitation and orthopedic centres 18 probands with knee osteoarthritis in the second degree were obtained. These probands were divided into two groups - the experimetal group (including those who have taken Proenzi 3 plus) and the control group (including those who have taken placebo). With all the pacients the input clinical examination and the medical history were done. Probands had been using these preparations for twelve weeks. After this time, the changes in the subjective perception using the WOMAC test and reological changes in the joint were evaluated, using a special knee rheometer. Results: The results of objectively measured parameters clearly proved that the Proenzi 3 plus has a positive effect on the rheological properties of the knee osteoarthritis. The experimental group had a statistically significant improvement in both of these parameters, as opposed to the control group. Concerning...

Vaňous, František ; Jelen, Karel (advisor) ; Tlapáková, Eva (referee)
Damage to the knee joint represents in terms of both incidence and severity of the consequences in terms of the ever-increasing problem in the most productive age population (1). Development and application of modern technologies, especially three-dimensional kinematics, provides comprehensive insight into the pathogenesis of disorders of the musculoskeletal system. Title: Ventral Translation of the Tibia within the Knee Joint: Quanitative Analysis in 3D and the Rollimeter Device The aim of the thesis deals with the quantification of selected kinematic characteristics of the knee. Kinematic analysis will undergo anterior tibial displacement in tibiofemorálním joint. This small movement has a small range, but is an essential prerequisite for movement in the joint (2.27). The solution will be used photoelectric system Qualisys Motion Capture Systems (QMCS), a new device Rollimetr. Experimental data obtained from both methodological procedures will be handled by software, then compared and aligned with current kinematic and clinical knowledge. Benyovszky, Adam ; Jelen, Karel (advisor) ; Lopot, František (referee)
Transfer Vibration through Spine Abstract In the bachelor project we deal with the topic of Transfer Vibration through Spine. The problem of TVS is trying to be solved by the critical review method. We analyse some diagnostic methods and methods of treatment based on this principle. Close attention is paid to the method of Transfer Vibration through Spine that is being currently solved by The Research Institute of Thermomechanics in The Czech Academy of Sciences in cooperation with Faculty of Physical Education and Sport. In the text are also searched mathematical description and biomechanical qualities of spine system that are related to these mentioned methods. The project is also used as a theoretical base for future experimental part of the research. Keywords: mechanical wave, intervertebral disc, spine, Transfer Vibration through Spine, connective tissue.

Benyovszky, Adam ; Jelen, Karel (advisor) ; Tlapáková, Eva (referee)
Title: Quantification of the axial system of humans by the TVS method Objective: The aim of this thesis is to introduce the TVS method as an adequate method for determining the biomechanical properties of the human axial system (AS). Method: This thesis presents data analysis from a series of case studies, which were obtained during the development of the TVS method. The data for the analysis were selected by the TVS measurements two times during the pregnancy of six women. On two sections of AS (Th2-Th9 and T11-L2), we examined the ability to soften vibrations of AS with regard to the stage of pregnancy. The results are quantified and provide information about the resonant frequencies, stiffness and damping of selected parts of AS. Results: The TVS method seemed to be adequate to provide information about the change of mechanical properties in depending on the selected parameter and allows the quantification of the biomechanical properties of AS. The results showed the improvement of damping parameter in case of four respondents, whereas the deterioration in case of two respondents. The response of the visual system when driving a car in real conditions and in a simulator during a parallel motor task.
Čiháková, Lucie ; Jelen, Karel (advisor) ; Lopot, František (referee)
Work title: The response of the visual system when driving a car in real conditions and in a simulator during a parallel motor task. Aims: To implement a laboratory measurement in a driving simulator and in real conditions during a parallel motor task. To track the response of the visual system during the task and to determine potential differences in the response of the visual system and in the speed in the simulator and in the real car environment. Methods: The laboratory measurement was realized in a driving simulator OCTAVIA II. The measurement in real conditions was realized in Škoda Octavia as well. The eye-tracking method was used to track the drivers` eyes. Results: In the simulator the more experienced driver managed to do the parallel motor task within a shorter period of time than the less experienced driver, lower frequency of looks at the radio during the tasks with the more experienced driver was not proved. There was not an evidence of more balanced speed during the drive with the more experienced driver in the simulator. On the average the driver spent shorter time doing the tasks in the real environment than in the simulator and the total number of looks at the radio was lower. The speed of the drive in the real environment was lower than the speed in the simulator. Key words:...
Biomechanical response of scaffold on mechanical loading
Anděrová, Jana ; Jelen, Karel (advisor) ; Amler, Evžen (referee)
The purpose of this work is to identify the parameters of scaffold's mechanical properties by observing/monitoring their response to defined external mechanical strain. The first part of the work is summarizing the knowledge about the required properties of scaffolds, their production and the factors influencing production. The practical part of the work concerns itself with measurement, analysis and evaluation of data based on proprietary methodology. Based on the results at this stage of the research, we can confirm, that scaffolds have viscoelastic, or viscoplastic character and its response depends on the magnitude of deformation, state of hydration, ratio of solutions and period of networking. Keywords: scaffod, tensile test, rheologic model
