Profession of librarian in the eyes of future high school graduates

My thesis focuses on librarian profession. The theoretical part present the diference between todays librarian and librarian from the last century. It describes the profession from the point of view of public, including stereotypes; it also mentions librarian education and competencies. One part is focused on librarianship abroad. The research part was carried out using questionnaire that was aimed at how young people in their final year of high school view librarian as a profession, whether they agree with the stereotypes or not. The aim was to figure out if they identify with the stereotype or not. Students mostly do not know what exacly librarian does and even do not know that it is possible to study librarianship. Overall they have this field connected just with books. Some recommendations are derived from the survey results.
UX Principles and the City: Case Study of UX and UI in Public Transit Fare Transactions

The text of the thesis deals with the purchase of public transport fares in terms of user- friendliness and usability. The aim is to map the area of fare purchase theoretically and practically, including the user perspective. The theoretical ground is the concepts of User Experience, User Interface, Human-computer Interaction, smart city, the theory of the city as an interface. Important parts are also the theoretical aspects of the User Experience in the city environment. Literature review of current research in public transport ticketing systems with user-friendliness perspective presents current topics in the field of public transport ticketing. The practical part of the thesis describes the public transport ticketing systems in Prague and Copenhagen in detail, their possibilities, rules, and specifics. Primary research in the form of semi-structured interviews provides insight into the User Experience and reveals the perceived advantages and disadvantages of local systems.
Possibilities and restrictions of the VWI method in the process of technological and information overload monitoring

The aim of the thesis is to assess the capabilities and limitations of the so-called "Virtual Index scales" (Virtual Weight Index, hereinafter referred to as VWI). VWI D. Sieberg defines VWI as an indicator expressing the layout of the user's time between the online space and the real world. From the perspective of information science then you can represent one of the helper methods, setting out the degree of technological information flooding the individual. The theoretical part of the thesis is focused on the interpretation of the basic concepts and integrated into the broader contextual framework. In the practical part of the work, a qualitative research will be carried out, the basic part of which will represent the test method, supplemented by the "VWI diary". The group of the respondents are eight women aged 30-40 years. Measuring VWI run for a period of 48 hours. The result of the work of the evaluation methodology is to set out, evaluate the methodology, strengths and limitations, and the evaluation of research outputs for the target group. Seniors and Internet Payments

This Bachelor thesis concerns the theme ofinternet payments and subsequent provision of goods and services for seniors. The theoretical section of the thesis defines the key term 'senior' and covers issues of old age and current use of technology by the elderly. Also covered in this section are the education, knowledge and safety of seniors connected with their activities on the internet involving online purchases and payments. The theoretical section also describes payment methods used for online internet payments and the positives, negatives, and level of risk of such payments. Attention is also givenhere to issues of online payment fraud and other forms of abuse.The research section of the thesis is carried out through qualitative research in the form of partially structured interviews with respondents of between 60-74 years of age having prior experience with internet payments. The purpose of the thesis is to determine how knowledgeable seniors are about internet payments, including their practical experience and whether they know the risks involved and how to avoid abuse. The Status and Social Prestige of the Library Profession in Contemporary Information Society (Research in Smaller Local Libraries)

The bachelor's thesis deals with the prestige of the librarian profession in today's information society. The theoretical part analyses the current information society and its changes over time, characterizes the librarian profession in connection with the changing role of public libraries and deals with the issue of prestige both of the librarian profession and the professions in general. The thesis introduces the social problem, which is the underestimation of the librarian profession. Based on this problem, the research part of the thesis aims to evaluate the current social prestige of library staff from smaller local libraries in the context of the changing social role of public libraries. The research within the research part of the work took part during the years 2019/2020 in the Czech Republic, in the form of a mixed research combining qualitative and quantitative forms of research. The conclusion of the bachelor's thesis aims to analyse and summarize the results of this research. The diploma thesis deals with the issue of borrowing and information services in different types of libraries in the Pilsen region, extended of a preview about the current state of borrowing and information services in selected libraries abroad. Next topic of the theoretical part of the thesis is human resource management in libraries in Czech republic. The research part of the thesis compares borrowing and information services and human resources management in different types of libraries in Pilsen region. The aim of the analysis was to find problematic areas of the providing direct services in libraries in terms of organization and management of human resources. The research was carried out by semi- structured interviews with managers responsible for direct library services. Content metadata created by users and information professionals: a comparative analysis

The master thesis is focused on professional and user-generated metadata with emphasis on content metadata. It describes metadata in general, their important characteristics, functions, and types, and defines other related terms. The professional content metadata and user-generated metadata are described in more detail. The analytical part aims to compare professional and user-generated content metadata. For this purpose, a dataset of metadata statements on fiction books collected from dozens of databases was used. It also aims to determine whether user-generated metadata bring additional information to metadata created by professionals.
Information behavior and information needs of farmers

in English This diploma thesis aims to map information behavior and information needs of farmers. The theoretical part describe these concepts in connection with the field of agriculture and adds a description of information sources that farmers use or may use in practice. The practical part is focused on the formulation and answering of research questions. These questions were answered in qualitative research, which was carried out using in-depth interviews. The research took place in February and March 2020 among farmers in the Benešov region. It brought a large amount of information concerning information needs, used information sources and related information behavior of respondents. Title of the bachelor thesis: Ways of obtaining information about political events in the Czech republic by seniors Abstract: This bachelor thesis focuses on the ways in which seniors get information about political events in the Czech Republic. The main goal of the thesis is to find out how seniors get information about political events in the Czech Republic and what role have electronic sources in obtaining these specific information. The theoretical part defines the basic concepts related to seniors, information and media literacy and digital divide. This part also includes statistics mapping seniors in the Czech republic and an analysis of the manipulation tools that seniors encounter. The practical part contains research which analyses access to media and politics, electronic resources and verification of information by respondents. Information behavior of information workers in the process of providing medical information

This diploma thesis focuses on the problem of information behavior in the process of providing medical and health information. Research focuses on identifying information barriers. Research was implemented in several specialized workplaces: Homolka Hospital Library, National Medical Library, Institute for Clinical and Experimental Medicine: Scientific Medical Library, Institute for Postgraduate Medical Education: Department of Scientific Information and Bulovka Hospital Library. The following part is my own research listing the reference workstations and utilizing the information about the problem provided by the local employees. The information was gathered during monitored interviews. The thesis also introduces basic theoretical concepts of the area of information behavior, which are related to the topic. The final part is the evaluation of the results from the collection of information. The components are suggestions for changes to improve.
