Endohedral fullerenes: From exotic chemical bonding to molecular electronics
Jaroš, Adam ; Straka, Michal (advisor) ; Uhlík, Filip (referee) ; Patzschke, Michael (referee)
This work focuses on the theoretical study of the physical and chemical properties of endohedral fullerenes, which can be used either to study exotic chemical bond- ing or as components in molecular electronics. Part of this work is focused on the study of interactions of simple molecules enclosed in a fullerene cage, such as H2O, HF, NH3, or their dimers, and the observation of the so-called charge-shift bonding. We have also investigated the bonding interactions between actinide atoms in fullerenes and described general trends associated with this bonding. In the course of studying actinide endohedral systems, we have proposed and cali- brated a methodological approach to investigate the actinide-actinide bonding, applicable in future research. The acquired knowledge about the interactions in endohedral fullerenes al- lowed us to design molecular components usable in so-called non-von Neumann architectures. First, we published a proof-of-concept study on diatomic MX molecules (M = hydrogen or metal, X = halogen or chalcogen) enclosed in a C70 cage. The molecule enclosed inside the cage can be rotated by an external electric field; thus the whole system acts as a switch. We found that the conductivity of the system depends on the rotational state of the molecule enclosed within the system, and the...
Dipicolylamine modified with a bis(phosphinate) group
Jaroš, Adam ; Kubíček, Vojtěch (advisor) ; Matulková, Irena (referee)
Ligand DPABPin was synthesized by Mannich reaction. Acid-base properties of the ligand were studied by potentiometric titrations. Protonation constants and stability constants of complexes with Cu2+ , Zn2+ and Ni2+ were determined. Cu2+ and Ni2+ complexes were isolated and their geometry was determined using X-Ray diffraction analysis.
Application for an appeal rewiev in civil procedure
Jaroš, Adam ; Kubešová, Silvia (advisor) ; Frintová, Dita (referee)
The Application for an appeal review in civil court proceedings is an exceptional remedy, which may brought against final decisions of the Court of appeal. Through the application for an appeal review the Supreme Court of the Czech Republic not only corrects the defects of legal decisions of courts of appeal, but at the same time it keeps an eye on the unification of the decision-making practice of the courts of appeal. The legal regulation of the application for an appeal review is contained in particular in the Code of civil procedure, as amended, and its minor styling techniques can be found also in the Act on the special legal proceedings, and in the Act on courts and judges. Due to quite complicated legislation and high procedural demands that are placed on the application for an appeal review, is this extraordinary legal remedy a frequent subject of the decisions of the Supreme and the Constitutional Court, whose conclusions are in many decisions fundamentally distinguishing. These contradictions in such conclusions often makes legal regulation of an application for an appeal review even less transparent. The Code of civil procedure lays down the fundamental prerequisites to the admissibility of the application for an appeal review and its requirements. In the preparation of the application...
Macrocyclic complexes with open coordination sphere
Jaroš, Adam ; Kubíček, Vojtěch (advisor) ; Gyepes, Róbert (referee)
The aim of this work was to synthesize and study acid-base and coordination properties of ligands bearing a neutral or negative charge on their pendant arms. Acid-base properties of two ligands and thermodynamic stability of their complexes with gallium, copper, and zinc ions were studied using potentiometry, UV-Vis and NMR. Solid state structure of one of the ligands and its complex with copper ion was studied using RTG structural analysis. Structure of complexes in solution was studied using methods of computational chemistry.
