Interaction of tokamak plasma with selected fusion materials
Klevarová, Veronika ; Janeček, Miloš (advisor) ; Horáček, Jan (referee)
Title: Interaction of tokamak plasma with selected fusion materials Author: Veronika Klevarová Department: Department of Physics of Materials Supervisor: Doc. RNDr. Miloš Janeček, CSc. Supervisor's e-mail address: Milos.Janecek@mff.cuni.cz Abstract: The following work is devoted to structural analysis and study of relevant physical properties of materials with perspective use for the first wall and as construction materials of the tokamak device, prior to their interaction with the high-temperature plasma in Compass-D tokamak. The theoretical part contains an introduction to the interaction of tokamak plasma with fusion materials, including a description of the processes taking place during the plasma discharge (such as implantation, erosion, particles traveling in the tokamak vacuum vessel, redeposition, co-deposition with tritium etc.) and selection of appropriate fusion materials. The experimental part consists of structural analysis of selected materials by optical and scanning electron microscopy. Analysis of the structure revealed the presence of oxide layers in some samples prepared by the technology of plasma spraying; which was probably caused by sample preparation in the ambient air. Qualitative elemental analysis of the samples was performed by electron dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS) in SEM....
Self-study language learning software for upper-intermediate (B2) adult learners of English: do existing products meet the requirements?
Janeček Keller, Maurice ; Mothejzíková, Jarmila (advisor) ; Klégr, Aleš (referee)
This thesis examines comprehensive self-study software packages for upper-intermediate (B2) learners of English, in the context of adult language learning and computer-assisted language learning. The aim is to provide a holistic perspective. To determine whether contemporary self-study software is likely to deliver on its producers' promises, a list of evaluation criteria is elaborated and used to evaluate the newest versions of four products that are available on the Czech software market: Anglicky efektivne a Anglicka gramatika by the Czech company Landi, Anglictina Elements pro sti'edne pokroCile by Langmaster Intemational which is a Czech based company as well, Tell Me More Anglictina 3 by the French company Auralog and adapted for Czech leamers by the Czech publishing house Leda, and finally Rosetta Stone U.K. English Level 3 by the American company Fairfield Language Technologies. In addition to the theoretical evaluation, one ofthe products (Tell Me More) was subjected to a one-month trial in an authentic context. Although, each program has its strong points, it is pointed out that success can not be expected from leaming that relies exclusively on these self·study materials. The thesis concludes by proposing improvements with which learning software could be successfully used in self-study settings...
Physical properties of ultrafine-grained polycrystals of magnesium based alloys
Vrátná, Jitka ; Janeček, Miloš (advisor) ; Kužel, Radomír (referee)
The objective of the thesis is the study of microstructure evolution, mechanical properties, defect structure and corrosion resistance of ultra-ne grained magnesium alloy AZ31 prepared by a combined two-step process: the extrusion and the equal-channel angular pressing (ECAP). The microstructure development was studied using light and transmission electron microscopy and electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD). Mechanical properties were studied by microhardness measurement and tensile tests and the defect structure by positron annihilation spectroscopy (PAS). The results of tensile tests indicates that the characteristic stress 0.2 increases slightly with increasing number of ECAP passes only to the second pass and then decreases signicantly with additional ECAP straining. This behaviour is in accordance with the results of PAS. EBSD measurements show that the microstructure of extruded and ECAPed material has a bimodal distribution of grain sizes. The bimodal distribution becomes homogeneous with increasing number of ECAP passes and no remaining large grains are observed after 8 passes. The average grain size in the specimen after 8 passes is in the submicrometer range and the fraction of high-angle grain boundary (HAGB) is approximately 80%. The extruded specimens after 8 ECAP passes show the best...
Study of mechanical properties and microstructure development of fine-grained Cu and Cu alloy polycrystals
Srba, Ondřej ; Janeček, Miloš (advisor)
The objective of the thesis is the study of mechanical properties, microstructure development and corrosion resistance of technical purity copper and Cu-0.18 wt.% Zr polycrystals prepared by ECAP. The tensile tests showed that the characteristic stresses 0,2 and max increase with increasing strain imposed by ECAP. The improvement of mechanical properties is compensated by the drop of ductility in the deformed state. The microstructure after 8 passes of ECAP is almost homogeneous consisting of equiaxed grains of the average size of 200 nm. The severe plastic deformation resulted in the grain size reduction of the factor of 1000. The specimen after 8 passes contains almost 50% of high angle grain boundaries. From the thermodynamic viewpoint the deformation did not change significantly the corrosion properties. However, the corrosion in the deformed material is slower and much more homogeneous.
