Courageous Steps of Forefather Abraham: Inspiration for Pastoral and Social Workers
Mentlová, Marie ; Heryán, Ladislav (advisor) ; Jančařík, Zdeněk (referee)
Courageous steps of forefather Abraham, Inspiration for pastoral and social workers. This thesis deals with four biblical passages of forefather Abraham's story (Gn 12,1-9; Gn 13,1-18; Gn 18,16-33; Gn 22,1-19). These parts show unusual courage of Abraham, when he follows God's promise, leaves what is secure and familiar and steps towards the unknown. These steps can be done only with faith and obedience. In the first story Abraham leaves his family and country and sets for the promised land. In the second story Abraham shows his wisdom and gives up the fertile land because he knows that blessing is more than properity. In the third story he boldly argues with God and in the name of justice and compassion he intercedes for the inhabitants of the sinful cities. In the last story he goes through the hardest ordeal when he is to scrifice his beloved son Isaac. Each passage is analysed in order to find and explain the main topics. In the second part of the thesis I tried to find the inspiration in these biblical stories for the pastoral and social workers. There have been revealed strong topics such as meaning of ordeal, courage to be truthful, courage to stan up against evil and also topics that can be easily overlooked in everyday life, such as how to withstand uncertainty, topic of the obedience in small...

Woman from the view of the Old and New Testament
Hlaváčková, Kateřina ; Heryán, Ladislav (advisor) ; Jančařík, Zdeněk (referee)
The thesis is a survey of the social and religious status of the woman in the times written about in the Old and New Testaments. It is a description of everyday life customs, traditions, regulations and habits of women in that time. I compare the Old Testament perception of the woman and how it changed in the years later. I am trying to describe revolutionary ideas and life of Jesus Christ in comparison to one of his follower Paul of Tars. The theses is divided into separate chapters and parts. I have drawn on many commentaries and passages which I have made use of for the presentation. I have also exploited some resources on the Internet. My thesis supervisor helped me to adjust and tune it all up. While looking for ideas and topics, I have found out that there has been a lot written on the given theme. Nevertheless, it is interesting to find answers to many of my questions. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)
