The Preeschool Child in the Grandmother's Care

This Bachelor thesis deals with preschool children, who are given into the care of their grandmothers. There are different reasons of grandmother´s care (mother´s leaving, mother´s death, mother´s inability to take care of the child because of her drug addiction). In the theoretical part there are mentioned important specifics of a preschool child development, importance of attechment, topic of separation and loss of caregiver. There are outlined certain forms of the foster care and its specifics. In the practical part there are described five case reports of children, who are raised by grandmothers. These case reports are described in detail and based on the long-term observations. Main attention is paid to adaptation of children, their relationships with teacher and classmates, and specifics of their emotional development.
