Design of a knowledge base for choosing a profession for people with Asperger's syndrome
Radkovová, Iveta ; Ivánek, Jiří (advisor) ; Papík, Richard (referee)
The topic of this work is "A knowledge-base creation for choosing a profession for people with Asperger's syndrome". In the theoretical part of the work I focuse on description of knowledge-based system NEST, its characteristics and architecture. There are also described uniforms signs and manifestations of Asperger's syndrome. The practical part of this bachelor thesis described a knowledge-base creation in the NEST, gradual creation of attributes and their rules, which are then used in selected model professions. The individual professions were chosen on the basis of the general characteristics of persons diagnosed with Asperger's syndrome. I draw from professional literature and from my own experience. KEYWORDS Knowledge-based systems, expert systems, knowledge base, inference engine, artificial intelligence, Asperger's syndrome, professions, employment.
Comparing of selected textual data compresion methods
Malý, Ondřej ; Ivánek, Jiří (advisor) ; Dvořák, Jan (referee)
The bachelor thesis focuses on the comparison of selected methods used in text data compression. In the introduction of the thesis, the general issues of data compression, basic breakdown, terminology and methods of compression measurement are presented. The theoretical part discusses the selected compression methods and the algorithms on which they are based. It focuses in particular on the methods that form the basis of this problem and from which many other methods still in use today were derived. In the practical part, we discuss selected compression or archiving programs and compare the methods on which they are based and their documentation and, furthermore, we compare their effectiveness on selected text data, both within the program itself and with each other.
Effective knowledge management within a business organization
Havelka Trusová, Alexandra ; Ivánek, Jiří (advisor) ; Šlosar, David Jiří (referee)
Public Abstract: In the current era, characterized by an overwhelming volume of information and data in organizations, effective knowledge management is indispensable. The advancement of technology has elevated the management and security of these systems to a high standard, facilitated by a plethora of programs designed to enable these processes. However, they differ in environment, functions and price. The theoretical part of the work focuses on summarizing knowledge in the field of knowledge management, its history, organization, management itself, knowledge and information in the organization with the application of knowledge management. The analytical part focuses on the comparison of two selected programs, SharePoint and Confluence. A comparison of the given programs showed differences in access to knowledge, its processing and flexibility. The analytical part also contains a comparison of the results of the questionnaire filled out by 71 respondents who work with the given programs. It was found that both programs were rated about the same. Based on the results, it is possible to confirm that the programs intended for knowledge management are at approximately the same level for an ordinary user.

Current methods of computer face recognition
Krčková, Johana ; Ivánek, Jiří (advisor) ; Dvořák, Jan (referee)
This bachelor thesis deals with methods of computer facial recognition, which is an important field in computer vision. The aim of the thesis is to compare and create a survey of the most well-known face recognition methods, with an emphasis on 2D picture-based methods. In the theoretical part of the thesis, the field of biometrics is first introduced and then the whole process of face recognition is described step by step. Recognition methods are then classified and the procedure, advantages and disadvantages are described for the most significant methods. The practical part of the paper focuses on testing three methods - Eigenfaces, Fisherfaces and LBPH on a small face database called Georgia Tech Face Database. The LBPH method achieved the highest success rate and the Fisherfaces method the lowest.
Invaluable Library Services
Řehák, Tomáš ; Souček, Martin (advisor) ; Ivánek, Jiří (referee) ; Šušol, Jaroslav (referee)
The paper deals with the issue of valuation and calculation of efficiency of public library services. In the introduction the paper explains the motivation for the research undertaken. The first (theoretical) chapter places the whole issue in the general economic and legislative framework, in particular relating libraries to the concept of public goods and describing different approaches to determining their value. It explains the concepts of efficiency and return on investment (ROI). It describes specific approaches to measuring the efficiency of libraries as a whole, with particular attention to the contingent valuation method and its development. It describes in detail several studies that the author considers to be of particular methodological value. The chapter concludes with information and descriptions of two key ISO standards that are directly related to the issue. Chapter 2 describes research on the efficiency of the library as a whole (referred to as ROI 1.0) conducted in 2012 at the Municipal Library in Prague (MKP) and verified in three other cities. Chapter 3 captures the effort to determine the effectiveness of one selected service (ROI 2.0), namely lending services (i.e. circulations of library items). It describes the chosen taxonomy of individual library services and the basic...
Data mining of the database of Consulting centre for metabolism disorders
Senft, Martin ; Ivánek, Jiří (advisor) ; Musil, Vladimír (referee)
This thesis applies the data mining method of decision rules on data from Consulting centre for Metabolism disorders from University hospital Pilsen. As a tool is used the system LISp-Miner, developed at University of Economics, Prague. Decision rules found are evaluated by a specialist. The main parts of this thesis are followings: an overview on main data mining methods and results evalutation methods, description of the data mining method application on data and description and evaluation of results.
Conceptual Structures As a Tool for Knowledge Representation
Ferbarová, Gabriela ; Ivánek, Jiří (advisor) ; Souček, Martin (referee)
(in English): Conceptual graphs are a formal knowledge representation language introduced by John F. Sowa, an American specialist on Artificial Intelligence, at the end of the seventies. They are the synthesis of heuristic and formalistic approach to Artificial Intelligence and knowledge procession. They provide meaning and knowledge in form, which is logically precise, human- readable and untestable, and it is applicable in the computing domain in general. Conceptual graphs can be expressed through a first-order logic, which makes them a quality tool for intelligent reasoning. Their notation CGIF was standardised by norm ISO/IEC 24707:2007 as one of the three dialects of Common logic, which frames the set of logic based on logic. Conceptual graphs are also mappable to knowledge representation languages standardised for the Semantic Web; OWL and RDF (S). This work introduces the conceptual graph theory in the context of scientific fields like linguistics, logic and artificial intelligence. It represents the formalism proposed by John F. Sowa and some extensions that have emerged over the past decades, along with the need for improvements to the representational properties of graphs. Finally, the work provides an illustrative overview of the implementation and use of conceptual graphs in practice....
Knowledge-based systems in medicine
Rybář, Zdeněk ; Ivánek, Jiří (advisor) ; Basl, Josef (referee)
Tato diplomová práce se zabývá problematikou znalostních systémů v oblasti medicíny. Cílem diplomové práce je zpracovat přehled různých typů znalostních/expertních systémů v oblasti medicíny, přiblížit stávající situaci a dále i případné trendy vývoje daných systémů.
