Mačková, Zuzana ; Hulíková Tesárková, Klára (advisor) ; Kurtinová, Olga (referee)
Regional analysis and forecast of the number of pupils in upper secondary education Abstract The goal of this thesis is to analyze the current structure of secondary school pupils according to the main KKOV classification scheme within individual regions of the Czech Republic and to estimate the future development in the schoolyear 2024/2025. Two main methods were used for this purpose, the method of participation in education from population classes and the method of quotient of transitions between individual years. The first part of the thesis focuses on the history of the development of the educational system and the methodology of classification of the educational system in the Czech Republic. The second part of this thesis deals with the application of selected methods to data for the regions of the Czech Republic. The ratio of newly admitted pupils to the size of population in the region per age and field of study and in schoolyears 2006/2007-2015/2016 is determined. Further, numbers of newly admitted pupils, pupils in each year of study, and graduates according to selected groups of disciplines are estimated in the schoolyear 2024/2025. This information can facilitate decision-making and planning of educational capacities in individual regions and the direction of the labor market in the region....
Mortality of females from selected malignant neoplasms in the context of preventive programs in the Czech and Slovak Republic since 1994
Antošová, Marie ; Hulíková Tesárková, Klára (advisor) ; Fialová, Ludmila (referee)
Mortality of females from selected malignant neoplasms in the context of preventive programs in the Czech and Slovak Republic since 1994 Abstract The main aim of the thesis is to compare the differences in mortality due to female malignant neoplasms (neoplasm of the breast, cervix and colon) in the Czech Republic and Slovak Republic during 1994-2015. Changes in mortality levels have been associated with the implementation of relevant preventive programs. The development of mortality is analyzed according to age only for female population and causes of death using the standardized mortality rate of selected causes of death and age specific mortality rate and using the decomposition of life expectancy at birth between the years 1994-2001 and 2009-2015 in terms of age groups and causes of death. Results of the analytical part of the thesis show that mortality decreased during 1994-2015 but the differences among mortality in both selected countries occurred. Mortality in both the analyzed countries differed above all for malignant neoplasm of the breast. Higher efficiency of established preventive programs has been demonstrated in the Czech Republic than in the Slovak Republic. Keywords: Czech Republic, Slovak Republic, mortality by causes of death, females, prevention programs, malignant neoplasms, decomposition

Knížová, Karolína ; Hulíková Tesárková, Klára (advisor) ; Fialová, Ludmila (referee)
Male mortality excess by causes of death in selected European countries in 2000-2013 period Abstract The aim of this thesis is to analyse and to evaluate current differences in mortality between males and females in selected European countries by causes of death. The thesis tries to capture the main features of so-called male mortality excess, and also tries to find its specifics in each individual state. Selected countries (the Czech Republic, Sweden, France and Spain) represent individual European macro-regions. The analyzed causes of death (neoplasms, diseases of nervous system, diseases of circulatory system, diseases of respiratory system and external causes) were selected based on the highest difference in the proportion of standardized mortality rates in total mortality between males and females. In the analytical part of the thesis, the methods of standardization, mortality tables and Pollard's two-dimensional decomposition of the difference in life expectancy at birth between males and females are used. To illustrate the situation of male mortality excess on the different groups of causes of death, contour plots of contributions to the difference in life expectancy at birth between males and females were created. The most significant differences in life expectancy between males and females were...
Mortality from infectious and parasitic diseases in selected countries of Latin America at the turn of the millennium
Šorelová, Michaela ; Hulíková Tesárková, Klára (advisor) ; Kalibová, Květa (referee)
Mortality from infectious and parasitic diseases in selected countries of Latin America at the turn of the millennium Abstract This thesis deals with a group of causes of death called Certain Infectious and Parasitic Diseases defined by The International Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems. The aim of the thesis is to evaluate mortality of this group of causes of death in selected Latin American countries at the turn of the millennium. It is generally known that in developing countries mortality rates from infectious and parasitic diseases are higher than in developed areas, where in the context of an epidemiological transition, when infectious diseases tend to be replaced by degenerative (civilization) diseases, mortality rates from infectious and parasitic diseases are significantly decreased. The main task was therefore to find out whether there is a reduction in mortality rates from infectious diseases in selected Latin American countries (Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Mexico and Peru). The intensity of mortality is expressed by standardized mortality rate and age-specific mortality rate which reach different values across countries, but a downward trend in mortality rates has been found in all countries over the reporting period. It was also found that groups of diseases such as...
Analysis of mortality from selected respiratory diseases in the Czech Republic in the 1994-2014 period
Vančurová, Mariana ; Hulíková Tesárková, Klára (advisor) ; Burcin, Boris (referee)
The main objective of this thesis was to analyse the development of mortality from selected respiratory diseases in the Czech Republic in the 1994-2014 period. Selected respiratory diseases were defined due to common characteristics, risk factors and mutual effects on each other and they are lung cancer, pneumonia and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. The first part of the thesis contains the definition of studied diseases, their risk factors, incidences and general trends of mortality from selected causes of death. The second part is devoted to the development of mortality from selected respiratory diseases regarding sex, age and seasonal effect. The methods for calculating in the analytical part were standardized mortality rate, two-dimensional decomposition and decomposition of the time series. The results showed different development of mortality from selected diseases between men and women and age distribution in consequence of the mortality from selected respiratory diseases. In terms of seasonal mortality, there was an effect found on pneumonia and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
Development of regional variations in suicide mortality in the Czech Republic in the period 1994-2013
Vondrášek, Martin ; Burcin, Boris (advisor) ; Hulíková Tesárková, Klára (referee)
Development of regional variations in suicide mortality in the Czech Republic in the period 1994-2013 Abstract The purpose of this bachelor thesis was to identify the development of regional variations in suicide mortality in the Czech Republic in the period 1994-2013. In view of the fact that the level of suicide mortality is different between genders, was the analysis carried out individually for each sex. The level of suicide mortality was researched through age-standardized suicide mortality rates, index of masculinity of suicides and rate of selfmurderers who chose hanging, strangulation or asphyxiation. These indicators enabled a regional comparison, which total results indicate the decrease of the age-standardized suicide mortality in the Czech Republic against the level in the second half of the nineties. However, it increased in some particular regions. Keywords: Czech Republic, mortality, suicides, suicide methods, suicidial tendence, regional analysis
The relationship between religion and reproductive behavior in demographic perspective
Fajfrová, Doris ; Hulíková Tesárková, Klára (advisor) ; Velková, Alice (referee)
The relationship between religion and reproductive behavior in demographic perspective Abstract The aim of this thesis is to provide a deeper discussion of the relationship of religion to reproductive behavior at the theoretical, methodological and practical level. The secondary objective is to introduce a recently formed branch called religious demography. The main part of the thesis is of a theoretical and methodological character, and is built on the comprehensive elaboration of the foreign literature, which is dealing with the theme of religion and reproductive behavior. In the first chapter, the latest processes and changes that occur on the religious scene and difficulties associated just with the research in this area are described. The second chapter is dealing with general methodological problems, which are mainly related to the operationalization of religion and the availability of data needed to examine the relationship of religion to reproductive behavior. The third chapter then presents two demographic prospects, which reveal two different ways of relationships, showing how to deal with the religion and the demographic reproduction. In the final part a model example is introduced, based on principles of religious demography. The example is built on data of the individual categories of...

Vávrů, Tereza ; Hulíková Tesárková, Klára (advisor) ; Kleňhová, Michaela (referee)
Analysis of the secondary education in the Vysočina Region in context of demographic development Abstract The aim of this thesis is to show the link between the demographic development and the development of the educational system, particularly on the example of the demographic development of the Vysočina Region and its impact on the secondary education in this region. The Vysočina Region was chosen because it is characterized by numerous specifics that distinguish it from other regions (e.g. a large number of small municipalities, rural and traditional characteristics of the region and lower education attainment of the population). Firstly, the current demographic development of the region is evaluated, secondly the development of the educational system is evaluated in its context. Afterwards, we examine the development of the number of secondary schools, the structure of their fields of education and their territorial distribution in the region. We also evaluate the current capacity of the secondary schools. The core of the analysis is the creation of derived forecast of the number of pupils in the various districts of the region through the use of rates of participation in secondary education in the districts. Because the estimate is carried out at the district level, it is possible to take into account...
Development of regional differentiation of avoidable mortality in the Czech Republic
Bedřichová, Eva ; Burcin, Boris (advisor) ; Hulíková Tesárková, Klára (referee)
Development of regional differentiation of avoidable mortality in the Czech Republic Abstract The main goal of the thesis is the evaluation of development of avoidable mortality in the Czech Republic during 1994-2012. According to concept of avoidable mortality there are two main categories which differ among the authors in terms of selection of avoidable causes of deaths. Indicators based on category of preventable mortality show efficiency of prevention, indicators based on category of treatable mortality correspond with quality of health care and health policies. The intention is to compare a development of avoidable mortality from three different aspects using three different lists of causes of avoidable deaths focusing on regional differentiation. Results of the thesis indicate that the intensity of avoidable mortality was declining during 1994-2012 in all the regions. The level of this mortality differed depending on a list of avoidable causes of deaths and also among districts. Keywords: avoidable mortality, treatable mortality, preventable mortality, causes of death, regional differentiation, Czech Republic

Sykáčková, Petra ; Fialová, Ludmila (advisor) ; Hulíková Tesárková, Klára (referee)
Mortality in Cisleithania in 1881-1911 Abstract The aim of this thesis is to analyze mortality in Cisleithania in general and its parts within 1881-1911. Trends in mortality and its level during this period were significantly influenced by the contemporary social situation and economic development which were parts of the process of modernization. Therefore when analyzing mortality rates the economic and social situation of each country was taken into account. The analysis showed significant regional mortality differences. Important factor affecting the mortality level in the above mentioned period was proportion of the population working in industry and agriculture sectors and related proportion of the population living in urban and rural areas. The mortality analysis in this thesis is based on the standardized crude death rate, the infant mortality rate and abridged life tables. The changes in mortality level were additionally analyzed by various decomposition methods providing more comprehensive information about mortality in Cisleithania. Keywords: mortality, Cisleithania, process of modernization, proportion of the population working in industry and agriculture sectors, proportion of the population living in urban and rural areas, decomposition
