Characteristic parameters of combustion of low calorific fuels
Kvapil, Matěj ; Bělohradský, Petr (referee) ; Hudák, Igor (advisor)
The diploma thesis is focused on the combustion of the low calorific gaseous fuels. The first part is devoted to the characterization and usage of low calorific fuels. Then combustion theory focused mainly on emissions and thermodynamics. Next characterization of burners and their modifications for low calorific value fuels is described. Safe storage and handling of chosen gases is also included in the last chapter of the theoretical part. Practical part includes the description of the laboratory experiment, which was a part of this thesis. It consists of the experiment description, experimental plan, calculation and evaluation of emissions, high and low heating value, density, flame temperatures and heat flux. Laboratory experiment was carried out with different fuels. Low calorific fuels were simulated by gradual increase of the concentration of inert gasses in the natural gas. Increased concentration of inert gasses had positive effect on the emissions. Measurement of the flame temperatures confirmed that the decrease of emissions corresponds to the inert gas addition to the noble fuel. Heat flux and thermal efficiency of the combustion was almost identical for each configuration.
Possibilities of educational MOOC courses
Kocháň, Matouš ; Hudák, Igor (referee) ; Lošák, Pavel (advisor)
The diploma thesis explores the possibilities of MOOC online courses and their implementation for ČSN EN 1591-4 standard. Firstly, Czech and global providers of MOOCs are discussed and compared. There are over 220 million MOOC active users globally. Then, the content of a course regarding the ČSN EN 1591-4 standard is created. This standard defines the necessary knowledge that mechanicians must acquire to install flange joints in critical applications. In the experiment, the importance of lubricating the fastener is pointed out. The outcome of the thesis is ten videos in Czech and in English that cover the courses' content and the experiment. The author entered a discussion with a Dutch Engineering Trainer platform which expressed interest in the ČSN EN 1591-4 course. In the end, the possibilities of course commercialization, fees, and profit are explored. There are several MOOC platforms open to publishing a course. Nevertheless, it is not possible to post the same course on two platforms simultaneously.

Characteristic parameters of oxygen-enhanced combustion process
Dřímal, Jiří ; Hudák, Igor (referee) ; Bělohradský, Petr (advisor)
The thesis is focused on the experimental investigation of the oxygen enhanced combustion technology (OEC), which uses the combustion air with higher concentration of oxygen, i.e. more than 21 %. The OEC technology is used in those industrial applications, which requires higher thermal efficiency, increased productivity, improved character of the flame, reduced equipment cost, lower volume of exhaust gases and improved product quality. Although this technology involves a number of advantages, it is appropriate to mention some of its disadvantages such as refractory damage, inconsistent heating, increased pollutant emission or flame disturbance and/or flashback. The combustion tests of OEC were carried out at the burners testing facility that enables to test many types of burners (gaseous, liquid, or combined). The two-staged low-NOx burner fired by natural gas was used during the tests. The observed parameters include the effect of oxygen concentration in the combustion air on the NOx emissions, heat flux into the wall of the combustion chamber, in-flame temperature distribution in the horizontal symmetry plane of the combustion chamber and also the shape and dimensions of the flame. The combustion tests of the air-enrichment, air-oxy/fuel and O 2 lancing OEC methods were carried out at the burner thermal input of 750 kW and air excess of 1,1 for two combustion regimes, namely one-staged and two-staged fuel supply.
Biomass - a promising source of energy
Pauk, Marek ; Hudák, Igor (referee) ; Skryja, Pavel (advisor)
The thesis deals with possibility of exchanging gas boiler for biomass boiler for heating communal buildings. The goal is to count economic and environmental impacts of combusting biomass compared to combusting natural gas. The last two parts of the thesis proves that. The beginning of the thesis contains introduction of getting biomass for communal boiler room and suggests different boiler constructions. Then it divides types of biomasses and determines which are suitable for energy purposes specifically for combustion. The calculation part solves heating losses and necessary heat output for example buildings. Then the thesis suggests possible solutions of heating communal buildings. One of the solutions is communal boiler room with one boiler with 350 kW heat output, second solution is with two boilers with 200kW and 150kW heat outputs, last solution describes just exchange of old boilers for new ones that can combust biomass. Then all the solutions are compared for financial return, which is 6 years for both communal boiler rooms and around 13 years for solution that counts with exchanging boilers. It describes ecological impact of combustion of these two fuels. There it describes amount of emission of harmful substances during their combustion. At the end it explains carbon dioxide neutrality of biomass combustion. Biomass has several times higher emissions at the place of production during combustion then natural gas, but it is still more environmentally friendly.
Dosing of particulate matter in rotary driers and rotary kilns
Kubín, Pavel ; Hudák, Igor (referee) ; Bojanovský, Jiří (advisor)
The bachelor thesis is focused on particulate matter dosing into rotary dryers. In the theoretical part, the thesis focuses on the mechanical properties of particulate matter (PM), especially the flow properties. The method of determining these properties is also men-tioned. The following part deals with the currently used PM dosing methods. The basic methods of dosing are listed here and their combination can subsequently lead to a complex dosing system. The practical part contains two designs of sewage sludge dosing systems and a comparison of their advantages and disadvantages. It also lists the boundary conditions to be considered before starting the design of such a dosing device.

The influence of the combustion air temperature on parameters of the combustion process
Množství emisí NOx a CO naopak rostlo s teplotou spalovacího vzduchu.
