Thorium as an environment stressor for plant growth.
Hrdinová, Aneta ; Lhotáková, Zuzana (advisor) ; Podlipná, Radka (referee)
Thorium is an element belonging to heavy metals, which is characterized by its radioactivity similarly to uranium and radon. Thorium is not commonly used in industry, but becouse of its radioactive properties it has a great potentional for future use in nuclear energetics. Thus, increasing release of Th into the soil, water and atmosphere can be expected in near future and through plant biomass it could become a part of food chains and webs and, thus, to represent a considerable health risks to humans. Studies devoted to research on thorium and its effects on plants has not been published much yet. The majority of these studies focus mainly only on plant abilities to accumulate thorium and/or monitoring distribution of thorium in plant body. But till now, a study is still missing, which would monitor the effect of thorium on the physiological characteristics of plants. Plants of Nicotiana glutinosa (L.) medium Thorium accumulatin were hydroponically cultivated Hoagland nutrient media differedin the presence of thorium, tartaric acid, putrescine and phosphates. In first part of the present study I monitored accumulation of thorium by tobacco plants under the influence of the above-mentioned modifications of media. In the second part, I studied the Th effect on the photosynthetic apparatus (contents...
Lichens and (heavy) metals
Hrdinová, Aneta ; Peksa, Ondřej (advisor) ; Malíček, Jiří (referee)
My thesis is focused on liches and heavy metals. In first part includes the general characteristics of lichens, the short description of their biology, morphology and anatomy. The next part is focused on the characteristics of the methods of absorption of metals by lichens, their physiological effects on the body and the mechanisms of defense against the toxicity of metals lichens. The work includes the list of species of lichen, and their relationships to particular heavy metals. Key words: Lichens, heavy metals, metal tolerance, detoxification, copper

The effect of heavy metals on the physiology of lichens
Hrdinová, Aneta ; Peksa, Ondřej (advisor) ; Svoboda, David (referee)
Lichens are known for their sensitivity to environmental changes, however, the tolerance to different changes may vary among particular taxa. There are lichen species extremely sensitive as well as very tolerant to pollution. The species growing in areas with a higher content of heavy metals belong to the second group. These sites may by of natural origin (ore), but very often they have arose as a result of anthropogenic activities (imissions in industrial and urban areas, various heaps etc.). The interaction between photobiont and mycobiont in the thallus can probably explain the success of lichens in environment enriched by heavy metals. The stress caused by heavy metals leads to increasing production of reactive oxygen species in cells of photobiont and mycobiont. Reactive oxygen species cause lipid peroxidation, damage of proteins and nucleic acids, and the degradation of chlorophylls. Although mycobiont provides the photobiont cells partial protection (particularly thanks to binding of metal ions to the cell wall and the formation of water-insoluble secondary metabolites), photobiont is exposed to high amounts of metals. Therefore, both symbionts have developed a range of detoxification mechanisms. The aim of this thesis was to summarize the findings on the effect of heavy metals on the...

Comparation of Czech and Finnish pension systems
Hrdinová, Aneta ; Krebs, Vojtěch (advisor) ; Lukášová, Tereza (referee)
The thesis will be aimed on problematics of the social politics, concretely on comparison of the Czech republic pension system and Finland pension system. Aim of the theoretical part of thesis will be to explain and clarify problematics of social politics with focus on pension systems. Diploma thesis will also contain strict preview of the pension system from the political view, because pension system is influenced by the political decisions a lot. Aim of the practical part of thesis will be pointing out between pension systems, reveal their pros and cons and finding appropriate implications, if there are some for Czech pension system and suggest possible improvements to the future. Basic hypothesis of this thesis will be then tested on this comparative analysis. Conclusion of this thesis should reveal answer to the question, if there are some principles and mechanisms, Czech republic can be inspired from Finland and if it is appropriate to implicate these principles to the Czech system.
