Author: Bc. Zita Matoušová Supervisor: Mgr. Kateřina Vondrová Title: The Influence of the Use of Modern Technologies on the Dexterity of the Hands of Healty Czech Adult Population Abstract: Manual dexterity is activity, which is based on the ability to control the movement and strength of the fingers. Many aspects impact dexterity, including the use of modern technologies. These have become part of our daily lives and have changed the way we perform many activities. Therefore, I consider it important to address this context within occupational therapy. The main aim of this thesis is to determine whether there is a causal relationship between the use of modern technologies and manual dexterity in a healthy Czech adult population in the age range of 20 to 64 years. A secondary aim is to map the extent and pattern of modern technology use in the same research sample. In this pilot study 208 probands participated. Each proband completed a questionnaire. They were asked how much time they spend using a computer, mobile phone, tablet and how they use these electronics. After that, they were tested with the Nine Hole Peg Test. The analysis of the study sample was done based on the questionnaire. Pearson chi-square test was used to determine the relationship between the phenomena under study. At the set...

DIPLOMOVÉ PRÁCE Jméno, příjmení: Bc. Šárka Altmanová Vedoucí práce: PhDr. Kristýna Hoidekrová, Ph.D. Title: Distance therapy and telerehabilitation in occupational therapy: contemporary use in patients after acquired brain injuries Abstract: Acquired brain injuries (ABI) are the most represented type of injuries in neurorehabilitation. In the Czech Republic, there is a shortage of outpatient occupational therapists. The involvement of telerehabilitation appears to be a possible solution to the lack of therapists. These methods are already being used with a good effect around the world. The aim of this thesis is to compare the possibilities of telerehabilitation against conventional occupational therapy in patients with ABI. A partial goal is to undertake a SWOT analysis of telerehabilitation and evaluate the communication platform eAmbulance. There are four single case studies. The patients are aged between 27-81 years (two women and two men) with different severity of right-sided hemiparesis. These patients underwent interventions of 60 minutes per week for a period of four weeks. The content of each therapy was different. Patients filled in a feedback questionnaire following each intervention. The results show that a large variation of approaches from conventional therapies can be used. The...

All patients were evaluated for eligibility and underwent initial testing (T1). Patients in both groups had therapy (unimanual / bimanual) for three weeks (15x), retest (T2) was performed after completion of the intervention, and a follow-up evaluation was performed after 1 month (T3). Patients were always evaluated by the Upper Extremity Motor Activity Log (UE MAL), Motor Assessment Scale (MAS), Action Research Arm Test (ARAT), Box and Block test (BBT) and Motricity Index (MI). Results: According to the results of the MAS test in group A, there was a statistically significant improvement in upper limb function in category 8 at...
Occupational therapist's methodics of work for patients with myoelectric prosthesis
Hoidekrová, Kristýna ; Pavlů, Dagmar (advisor) ; Jeníček, Jan (referee)
The aim of this study was to develop methodics of occupational therapy for patients with moelectric prosthesis, which is used by patients with amputation of upper limbs as well as patients with congenital problems. In the Czech republic there are no complex methodics about occupational therapy and myoelectric prosthesis, despite the huge mount of foreign studies of this topic. Myoelectric prosthesis uses the principle of sensing myoelectrical signals which are then transformed to the motor output in the terminal portion of the prosthesis. Occupational therapy intervention begins at the preprosthetic phase, the occupational therapist assesses the general potential for the use of myoelectric prosthesis and picks up myoelectric signals from the stump. In interprosthetic phase occupational therapist is dedicated to the training of activities of daily living with myoelectric prosthesis and training residual stump on the basis of myotest. The phase after prosthetic content of occupational therapy evaluation and assessment, which focus on patients ability of myoelectric control and prosthesis involvement in activities of daily living and training of grip. Within the training of grip, occupational therapist is dedicated to training proper grip within the pace, grip strength and targeted movements. The...
Determining reliability of Grip Test for patients after stroke
Kvapilová, Barbora ; Hoidekrová, Kristýna (advisor) ; Krivošíková, Mária (referee)
Standardization of motor tests has recently been on the rise in all healthcare professions, including occupational therapy. This diploma thesis deals with the determination of test - retest reliability of the Grip test in patients after stroke. The Grip test was developed at the Rehabilitační ústav Kladruby in the 1980s, based on the need of occupational therapists to evaluate the grip function of the hand. The theoretical part deals with grip, evaluation in occupational therapy and standardization. For the practical part, 60 patients were tested in the subacute stage of stroke. The sample contained 36 men and 24 women aged 35-65 years. Patients had different degrees of paresis, from light to very severe. The testing took place at two different times. The first testing took place in the 1st week of hospitalization in the Rehabilitační ústav Kladruby. Retest was performed 3 weeks after the first test by the same person. The data of both measurements were correlated for total score Grip test and for 21 test items separately. The Grip test correlation coefficient is 0.89. The correlation was higher than 0.7 for all 21 items. In most cases, the correlation was 0.8 - 0.9, which means a high level of test - retest reliability. Furthermore, the research part contains an interview with Mrs. Anna Horká, who...

Aquired brain injury is still a current topic and a serious problem nowadays. After a treatment, a lot of consequences appear which cause a long-term inability to work and invalidation of many people. One of the serious problems is a disorder of cognitive functions which disables people to get back to a normal life. One of the options how to affect the cognitive functions impairment is a system called CogniPlus. Theoretical part of this work presents aquired brain injury, its dividing, basic classification and the consequences. Furthermore, this work dedicates to rehabilitation of cognitive functions using both computers and conventional methods. It also shows the work of the occupational therapist and the possibility of cognitive function testing. The aim of the research is to find out if CogniPlus cognitive function training is more effective than the conventional pencil-paper method. 20 people were tested in this study. Unfortunately, one of them had to quit due to health problems. The experimental and the control group had a therapy once or twice a week. All the participants went through Addenbrooke cognitive test and through a questionnaire of cognitive mistakes at the beginning and at the end of the testing. The experimental group showed a significant improvement in the global score ACE and in the...
