Preparation of semiconductor samples for transmission electron microscopy
Bajo, Viktor ; Bukvišová, Kristýna (referee) ; Horák, Michal (advisor)
This bachelor thesis deals with the preparation of samples from semiconductors for transmission electron microscopy. In the theoretical part, the most common methods of pre-preparation and finishing methods used to create ultrathin regions transparent to the electron beam of the microscope are generally described. This is followed by an overview of the experimental equipment used in the practical part for the actual sample preparation. I prepared two single crystal silicon samples, one by mechanical preparation followed by ion polishing, the other in the form of a lamella fabricated using a scanning electron microscope equipped with a focused ion beam. Mechanical preparation is significantly more time-consuming, is performed on several specialised instruments and risks destruction of the whole object under investigation. Preparation of the lamellae is relatively fast and allows a very small area of interest to be selected, leaving the rest of the sample intact but, on the other hand, requires at least basic skills in scanning electron microscopy. Both methods can be used to prepare good quality samples suitable for analysis in a transmission electron microscope. I have documented the whole procedure in the practical section that can serve as a guide for the preparation of these samples.
Determination of operating costs depending on production technology of casting
Černocký, Libor ; Horák, Michal (referee) ; Záděra, Antonín (advisor)
The diploma thesis compares the costs of potting instrument transformers and sensors using vacuum potting technology and potting technology of automatic pressure gelation. The principles of managerial accounting, which are theoretically summarized, were used for the solution. The analysis of the potting operation of instrument transformers and sensors was carried out in the company ABB s. r. o. The technological processes of potting of transformers and sensors were described in their production, and the reasons for the cost of potting technologies were found. The relationships between higher costs and the amount of instrument transformers and sensors produced by a given potting technology were determined. For the year 2023, the costs of potting technologies were estimated and the hourly technology rate was determined, according to which individual transformers will cover the technology costs for this year. Furthermore, the break-even point of the total technological costs of both potting technologies was calculated. It was found for the current condition that for the number of transformers up to the break-even point is more advisable to use vacuum potting technology, and when exceeding the break-even point quantity, it is more advantageous to choose the technology of automatic pressure gelation. Finally, it was created a tool to select the necessary number of casting molds of the new type of transformer and to choose the potting technology according to the predicted production volume.

The deposition was done in the complex UHV system in the ÚFI VUT labs in Brno. The nanocrystals were analysed by SEM and AFM.
Fabrication of plasmonic antennas for analytical transmission electron microscopy by focused ion beam lithography
Foltýn, Michael ; Kejík, Lukáš (referee) ; Horák, Michal (advisor)
This bachelor thesis is focused on sputtering of thin gold layers and manufacturing of plasmonic antennas using focused ion beam lithography. I optimised the process of sputtering of gold layers by ion beam assisted deposition. Furthermore, I optimised processes connected to manufacturing of plasmonic antennas by focused ion beam lithography. I sputtered thin gold layers 20, 30 and 40 nm thick by various deposition rates. In terms of grain size, the best layers were those deposited with rate of 2 /s. From view of crystallographic composition, the best results were achieved by using deposition rates of 0.2 and 3 /s. I made 3 types of antennas. Rod shaped antennas of 240 nm in length and widths of 40 and 80 nm, and bowtie antenna with 20 nm gap in between its wings. I further optimised parameters of ion etching for each thickness and deposition rate of sputtered layers used for creating antennas mentioned before. The highest quality of antennas was achieved when using layers 20 and 40 nm thick. For manufacturing of bowtie antennas however, layers of all thicknesses deposited by rate of 3 /s were optimal. I discovered, that for layers deposited with rate of 2 /s a lot of redeposited material got sputtered back on to antennas, which can bring the diameters of antennas closer to the desired value at least in one axis.
Modelling of the Gear Pump Manufacturing
Horák, Michal ; Rožňák, Ing Martin (referee) ; Videcká, Zdeňka (advisor)
The diploma thesis deals with the analysis and optimization of production lines of the gear pump components. Specifically, it is pre-production, ie a production line for machining gears and production line for machining of bodies. These two components are then assembled on the assembly line. The creation of a simulation model in the Tecnomatix Plant Simulation program, which corresponds to the real state of production lines, is used for optimization. The simulation model is then used to perform the proposed experiments in order to optimize production lines and select the ideal solution with respect to the selected objectives.

Špičáková, Tereza ; Horák, Michal (referee) ; Křápek, Vlastimil (advisor)
This thesis concerns plasmonic antennas and the electromagnetic field of surface plasmon polaritons. In the first chapter we look at the theory of the electromagnetic field and the electromagnetic wave associated with the interface between metals and dielectric materials and we explain Babinet’s principle. In the next part of the thesis we describe the process of fabrication of plasmonic antennas using Kaufman ion source and focused ion beam. We continue wuth the theoretical description of the electron energy loss spectroscopy and the application of this method for characterizing the optical response of these structures. In the last part we introduce the principles of processing the measured data and the conclusions drawen frome this data. Next we will analyze the limits of the validity of Babinet’s principle and using this principle, we will image the magnetic field of the antennas. Finally, we discuss the possibilities of describing this problem with computer simulation.
Electron microscopy and spectroscopy in plasmonics
Naše studie umožnila identifikovat několik módů lokalizovaných povrchových plazmonů v těchto anténách a charakterizovat jejich vlastnosti včetně energie módu, rozložení elektrické a magnetické složky blízkého pole módu, a kvalitativní rozložení uzlů náboje a proudu souvisejících oscilací elektronového plynu.
