The source might be biogas produced during anaerobic sludge stabilization. This bachelor thesis deals with using biogas in cogeneration units at sewage water plant. First section covers the main Czech and EU legislation and regulations in the field of water treatment, sewage sludge treatment and cogeneration. The next section is devoted to production of biogas and possibility of utilization in cogeneration. The thesis divides cogeneration systems and mentions the main parameters such as energy efficient and wattage. Local and European companies are chosen from the fields of manufacturer. The practical part deals with designing of cogeneration unit at sewage water plant Zdar nad Sazavou. According to calculated and measured parameter adequate unit from local manufacturer Tedom is chosen. Moreover, there are other solutions for replacing the engine in the current unit (by Tedom) or general repair (by Motorgas). All options are evaluated from the view of profitable investment. The conclusion is that It would be preferable to replace the engine.

Energetic utilisation of sewage sludge
Tlašek, Miroslav ; Stříteský, Luboš (referee) ; Hlavínek, Petr (advisor)
Diploma thesis deals with issues related to final treatment sludge. Sewage sludge is an inevitable product of wastewater treatment. Also, most of them concentrated pollution. Most of pollution are concentrated in to them. And because it contains a large percentage of combustibles. Before thermal utilization, it is necessary to appropriately adjust the sludge. Thermal sludge utilization offers the most effective method of energy recovery. It is an energy conversion in the sludge, to heat and electricity. In the vast majority, if not the co-firing, it is necessary to modify the sludge and so it is dried. This is the optimal use of modern technology. There are several variations possible use. Unfortunately it is not in general able to propose the most appropriate technology or methodology, how to make best use of sewage sludge. Specific assignment usually have their own characteristics. In my work I will therefore first try to outline possible technology and in the second part to suggest sludge terminal for WWTP Hodonín.
Energetic optimisation of WWTP´s operation
Čížová, Veronika ; Vachovec, Roman (referee) ; Hlavínek, Petr (advisor)
The reduction in energy consumption is nowadays of increasing importance also within the field of waste water treatment. In combination with increasing requirements for the WWTP (waste water treatment plant) outlet quality, the energy optimization becomes very challenging for the plants operators. This thesis presents possible approaches to the energy optimization and summarizes technologies and measures, where some of them are in the research phase while others are already implemented successfully. In particular, the contribution of the activation tanks aeration process to the overall energy consumption of a plant is highlighted. A change in the aeration control is tested using a mathematical model of WWTP in Mikulov, South Moravia in Czech Republic. In the new setting the aeration is regulated based on the concentration of nitrogen compounds in the activation tank. There is also a brief survey of the energy consumption of the plant and an outline of other possible energy conservation measures.
Problems of disposal with rainwater from a communication
Oprchalová, Marie ; Pollert,, Jaroslav (referee) ; Palčík,, Jiří (referee) ; Hlavínek, Petr (advisor)
Transportation has unfavorably influence on a quality of enviroment. Increase of traffic leads to construction of new motorways and to intensify the traffic on current comunications. A consequence is more polluted hard surfaces, when surface-wash contaminate soil, surface water and underground water. Devices for treating contamined water, such as oil-separators, are very actual in these days. The subject of this thesis was to test the possibilities of increasing effectiveness of mechanical separator for light liquids by installing various types of constructions. Target was to determine effectiveness of this conventional technology, which is energetically and technically simple and find out applicability for first step cleaning and further usage.
Wastewater pretreatment at sewerage network

The first chapter explains the need AOPs, water quality, pollution and substances that are present in the water. Further, the first chapter outlines approach of the current legislation to micropollutants. The second chapter explains the theory and principle of operation of AOPs. This chapter is divided into two sections. The first section describes AOPs, which were tested at selected WWTP. In the second section, there are described some other AOPs. The third chapter is a literature retrieval of AOPs dealing with the removal of micropollutants. This chapter is focused on the removal of hormones by AOPs using ozone-based AOPs. The fourth chapter describes the actual testing of selected AOPs. The chapter describes selected WWTP, pilot-scale AOP unit and test results. In the last chapter there is designed and described full-scale AOP tertiary unit for removing of micropollutants. The last chapter also contains economic analysis of the proposed tertiary unit.
Design of WWTP at locality with extreme demands on quality of treated wastewater
Krupica, Radek ; Vachovec, Roman (referee) ; Hlavínek, Petr (advisor)
This diploma thesis deals with the wastewater treatment technologies by means of which high quality of the treated wastewater is attained, especially with regard to removing nutrients. The introduction of the thesis contains, among others, descriptions of the reserves in the Czech Republic where it is extremely important to insist on the highest quality of the discharged wastewaters. Then follows a summary of the quality requirements on the discharged wastewaters as stipulated in the legislation. Furthermore, I analyse the impact of the nutrients – nitrogen and phosphorus – on the environment and the principles of their removal from the wastewaters. In the next section I concentrate on the technological processes by means of which the required quality of the wastewater is achieved. The conclusion includes a list of technologies used as the tertiary wastewater treatments with emphasis on membrane technologies. The second part of my thesis is a study of a project of a wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) with membrane technology for the villages of Sloup and Šošůvka located within the protected landscape area of Moravian Karst.
